‘SNL’ recap: Best moments from Teyana Taylor hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’

Teyana Taylor brought her signature sass and style to the hosting chair of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) on January 24, delivering a solid performance that showcased her impressive range as a performer. The actress, singer, and model, who recently took home a Golden Globe for her role in Paul Thomas Anderson's film, proved herself to be an engaging and entertaining host.

Taylor kicked off the show with a confident opening monologue, tackling topics such as awards season, social justice, and her own experiences as a woman of color. She effortlessly wove in humor and personal anecdotes, setting the tone for what promised to be a memorable episode.

One highlight from Taylor's set was her appearance in a mock kids' toy commercial featuring highly provocative action figures – a nod to her recent Oscar nomination. The sketch demonstrated her ability to pivot between silly and irreverent, as well as tackle complex issues with wit and nuance.

During the show, Geese took the stage as musical guests, delivering an energetic performance that showcased their catchy indie rock sound. Their two songs, "Au Pays du Cocaine" and "Trinidad," were woven seamlessly into the evening's entertainment, providing a perfect blend of sonic variety to keep viewers engaged.

Throughout the episode, Taylor continued to prove herself as a versatile performer, effortlessly shifting between comedic relief and dramatic moments. She showed an impressive ability to connect with her co-stars, trading hilarious one-liners and heartfelt moments that left audiences laughing and cheering in equal measure.

Some standout sketches included a spot where a series of gate agents were hilariously dismissive of passengers' luggage; another featuring a group of rowdy football fans on ESPN; and a comedic take on an upscale "confidence class" for stressed-out adults.

While some viewers may have experienced minor disappointment due to the episode's pacing, Taylor's performance was undoubtedly one of the highlights. Her talent, charisma, and sharp wit made her an absolute joy to watch, cementing her place among the ranks of memorable SNL hosts.
