This is so frustrating - I mean, how can an entire racial group be targeted like this in our own city?! The numbers are just mind-blowing - 84% of Black and Latino motorists being searched without reason? That's insane! It's not even close to fair. And the fact that only a tiny percentage of those searches lead to actual charges is just cherry-picking statistics. I think what really gets me is that the NYPD claims they're doing this for "public safety" but it's clear they're just perpetuating systemic racism. They say their goal is to confiscate illegal firearms, but if you look at the data, it's like, why are so many of these searches yielding nothing? It doesn't add up.
And what really bugs me is that this isn't even a new issue - we've been talking about stop-and-frisk for years and how unfair it was. So to see it re-emerge in this form, with vehicle stops instead of pedestrian stops, just feels like more of the same old problem. The fact that only now are people speaking out against it is frustrating because we should have seen this coming years ago.
We need to demand change here. We need our leaders to listen to the concerns of communities like these and work towards real reform. Not just lip service or token gestures, but actual concrete action.
they're saying it's all about targeting high crime areas but honestly how many times do we need to see these numbers before we know it's just a bunch of racial profiling going on? 84% of Black and Latino drivers are being searched like what does that even say about our city? 
I mean we already knew we had issues with policing but this is just insane. And only 4% of white people are getting searched what's the logic behind that? 
This whole situation is wild, you know? The fact that 84% of Black and Latino drivers are being targeted for no reason just because of the color of their skin is straight up crazy. It's like they're saying "oh, this guy looks suspicious" without even having a legit reason to believe so. Meanwhile, white people get a free pass. I mean, what's the logic here? If it's supposed to be about keeping us safe, then why are only Black and Latino drivers getting stopped more often? It's all about profiling, period. 
. anythin less is jus not gonna cut it for these civil liberties groups.
