Detroit's popular plant-based pop-up, Street Beet, is expanding to a brick-and-mortar location in Corktown. The restaurant, which has garnered a cult following for its vegan takes on classic American comfort food, officially opened its doors in the former Bobcat Bonnie's space at 1800 Michigan Avenue.
To celebrate this milestone, Street Beet will host a grand opening event from Thursday, December 11th, with festivities running from 4 pm to 11 pm. The venue boasts not only a plant-based menu that includes mouth-watering options like meatless coney dogs, smashburgers, and nachos but also an arcade featuring classic games from Offworld Arcade.
Guests can dine in or order carryout from the walk-up window, making it easy for foodies to enjoy Street Beet's delicious offerings. The restaurant plans to expand its menu soon with a brunch option, full service bar, coffee counter serving vegan pastries, and patio seating – all part of the company's vision to make Street Beet a beloved gathering spot in Corktown.
"We've dreamed of this space for years," said founder Meghan Shaw. "Bringing Street Beet home to Corktown feels unreal – this is our biggest leap yet, and we can't wait to feed everyone again." With its unique blend of plant-based eats and classic arcade games, Street Beet promises to be a must-visit destination in Detroit's vibrant food scene.
