Sudan army withdraws from Darfur’s el-Fasher, UN warns of RSF atrocities

Sudan's Army Withdraws from El-Fasher Amid Fears of RSF Atrocities

A shocking development in the ongoing conflict in Darfur, Sudan, saw the army chief announce a withdrawal of troops from their last stronghold, el-Fasher. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have taken control of the city, leaving over 250,000 people - half of them children - under the control of the paramilitary group.

As reports pour in, aid groups describe chaotic scenes, including killings, arrests, and attacks on hospitals. The RSF has been accused of widespread human rights abuses, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres labeling the situation a "terrible escalation in the conflict" that is "unbearable".

The RSF's actions have been met with outrage from humanitarian organizations, who report summary executions, ethnic killings, and arbitrary detentions. Volker Turk, the UN high commissioner for human rights, warns of an escalating risk of further atrocities.

The situation on the ground is dire, with footage showing RSF fighters celebrating in el-Fasher while others are detained or killed. The Sudan Doctor Network has reported dozens of deaths, including a local journalist who was among those detained by the RSF.

The Darfur Network for Human Rights describes the RSF's actions as "systematic targeting" and warns of potential war crimes. The situation is eerily reminiscent of past atrocities committed by the Janjaweed militia during the Darfur conflict in the 2000s.

As the humanitarian crisis deepens, the international community has been urged to take action, with some calling for the RSF to be classified as a terrorist organization. Meanwhile, aid organizations are struggling to reach those affected, with Mathilde Vu of the Norwegian Refugee Council stating that civilians in el-Fasher are in grave danger and "no one is safe".

The withdrawal of Sudan's army from el-Fasher raises concerns about the stability of the country, which has been plagued by conflict for over a decade. With the latest war having claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced over 12 million people, it remains to be seen what the future holds for this embattled nation.

The International Criminal Court is investigating alleged war crimes, while the UN continues to sound the alarm about the escalating situation in Darfur. As the world watches with bated breath, one thing is clear: the people of el-Fasher and Sudan as a whole need urgent attention and support to prevent further suffering.

idk how much more of this darfur stuff we can take 🤕 it's like, the RSF is just running amok & no one's doing anything about it 💔 the situation's so dire with all these reports of killings, arrests, & attacks on hospitals... it's just heartbreaking. and now they're celebrating in el-fasher while others are detained or killed? 😱 what kind of 'celebration' is that supposed to be? 🤷‍♀️ i'm literally shaking thinking about all the people caught up in this mess... 250k+ ppl, half of them kids, living under paramilitary control. it's just so bleak 💔

OMG 🤯 this is getting crazy!!! The RSF taking over el-Fasher and just doing whatever they want is wild. Like, what even happened to the army? Did they just ghost on their own people? 🤔 I'm low-key worried about the 250k ppl under control of these paramilitary thugs... is anyone gonna help them? 🚨 The UN is trying but it's like they're speaking one language and the world is all "huh?" What's next? Are we just gonna sit here while more people get killed or arrested? 😩 It's like, where's the accountability? 🤷‍♀️

🤕 OMG what's going on in darfur?!?! 250k ppl trapped under RSF control it's like a nightmare come true 🌪️ i mean what's happening to all those kids? The UN is like "terrible escalation" but what can they do? the ICc needs to step up and do something already 💥 and aid groups are struggling to reach those in need 🤝 it's so frustrating that no one seems to be safe rn 💔 el-fasher is literally a war zone now 😱 and we're all just sitting here watching on our screens like "wait what" 📺

OMG u gotta know whats goin on in sudan rn 🤯! so theres this army that just pulled outta el-fasher & now its all about the rapid support forces (rsf) takin control 😱 theyre talkin about human rights abuses & atrocities left & right & the UN is like "terrible escalation" 💔 what's even more wild is how aid groups are describin chaotic scenes w/ killings, arrests, & attacks on hospitals 🚑🤕 its like war crimes 2.0 🚨 the situation is super dire & i'm dyin to no how things will play out 👀 we gotta keep an eye on it tho & make sure those affected get the help they need 💖

omg what's going on in sudan?? 😱 i'm reading this article about how the army just withdrew from el-fasher and now it's all controlled by the rapid support forces (rsf) which has been accused of so many human rights abuses... like, 250k people are under their control including half of them being kids 🤯. is this even possible? why hasn't anyone stopped these atrocities yet? 🤔 i'm getting so worried for the civilians in el-fasher and sudan as a whole... what can we do to help? should we be calling for the rsf to be classified as a terrorist organization? or what's being done by the international community right now? 🌎💖

omg this is so crazy 🤯 the rsf is literally committing atrocities left and right and no one's doing anything about it 😡 i mean what even is the point of having human rights orgs if they're not gonna do anything? 🤷‍♀️ the international community needs to step up their game and take action against these warlords ASAP 💪 meanwhile, those poor civilians in el-fasher are literally living in hell 🌎 250k people under control of a paramilitary group is just insane 🤯 need more aid and support like now ⏱️

🚨😱 this is so heartbreaking i cant even imagine whats going on in that place 250k ppl trapped under rsf control is like a nightmare coming true anyone thought it was possible for human rights abuses to escalate that much? 🤯 its just a never-ending cycle of violence and suffering we need more help getting to these ppl ASAP the intl community needs to step up their game we cant just sit back and watch while these innocent lives are lost. the situation on the ground sounds like hell ⚠️

🤕 this is just another example of how "progress" can quickly turn into chaos... i mean, who thought it was a good idea for the RSF to take control of el-Fasher? its like they're trying to recreate the Janjaweed's worst nightmares from 2003 🌪️

and 250k people stuck in this mess? that's just insane... aid groups should be doing more than just reporting on it, you know? like, get some real action happening 💔

international community needs to step up and take responsibility for these atrocities. classification as a terrorist org is long overdue 🚫. but what's the point if we just keep sending reports and not any actual help?

its heartbreaking to think that people are actually celebrating in el-Fasher while others are getting killed or detained... it just feels like they're not even human anymore 🤖

we should be working towards peace, not just reacting to another crisis. this is just a symptom of a bigger problem: our society's complete lack of accountability 💔

omg is this happening in real life? like they're being held captive by some group and killed or arrested... what's going on 🤯 how can this be happening in 2025?? shouldn't we have tech that stops these kinds of things from happening?

i feel so bad for those kids, 250k people are affected and half of them are kids... it's like, how do we even know where to start helping them out? 🤔 do you think the international community is doing enough? should we be classifying this group as a terrorist org or something? i don't get why aid groups can't just send in more drones to deliver food and medicine or something... tech would make it so much easier, right? 💻

🚨 this is getting crazy ... i mean, 250k ppl under RSF control & aid groups r sayin it's chaos over there 🤯 like what kinda situation do we have in sudan these days? 🤔 i read that UN sec gen antonio guterras says its a "terrible escalation" ... how can they just let this happen? 💔 the pics of rsf fighters celebratin while others r detained or killed is insane 😱 we gotta see some real action from the intl community tho, not just talk about it 🗣️

I'm literally shaking my head over this latest development 🤯. 250,000 people are under the control of these paramilitary group and we're still doing nothing 🙅‍♂️? It's like, how many times do we need to see human rights abuses before something is done? The situation on the ground sounds absolutely horrific - I can only imagine what those kids must be going through 😔.

It's not just the number of deaths that's shocking, it's that these atrocities are happening right under our noses. We need to wake up and demand action from our leaders 🌟. If we don't, who will? It's heartbreaking to think about all the lives lost and families torn apart over the years.

I'm so glad there are organizations like the Norwegian Refugee Council trying to reach those affected, but it's clear that more needs to be done 💪. We need to hold these groups accountable for their actions and ensure that justice is served. This isn't just about Sudan; it's about human rights and dignity everywhere 🌎.

I'm not sure what the future holds for this country, but one thing is certain: we can't keep standing by while innocent lives are lost 😢. We need to take action now, or risk facing a world where these atrocities become the norm 💔.

🤕 this is getting crazy what's happening in darfur?? 250k people stuck in the middle of a war and no one can get there to help 🚨 the international community needs to step up their game ASAP 🙅‍♂️

also, how can we even have peace talks when the rsf has shown such brutality? it's like they think they're above the law 🤷‍♀️ the international court should be doing more to hold them accountable 🚔

what's with the military withdrawing from el-fasher? is that just a tactical move or do they actually plan on taking over the whole country? 🤯 either way, it's just going to lead to more chaos and suffering for innocent civilians 😱

🤕😱 this situation in darfur is just getting worse... 🌪️ the rsf's actions are straight outta horror movie 😨 with 250k ppl trapped under their control, it's like they're being held hostage 💔 and those human rights abuses? 🚫👎 it's a total mess. 🤯 we need to take action now, like classifying them as terrorists or something 👮‍♂️. aid organizations are doing the best they can, but it's just not enough 🤕. we gotta step in and help those ppl out 🌈. can't let another genocade happen 🚫💔

I'm so worried about what's happening in Darfur 🤕. The thought of those many innocent lives being lost or mistreated is just heartbreaking. As someone who's lived through my fair share of struggles, I can tell you that these conflicts have a ripple effect on people for years to come.

It's appalling how quickly things escalated and how hard it is for aid groups to get in there and help now 🌎. The RSF's actions are not only human rights abuses, but also causing widespread fear and displacement among the population. I've seen so many stories of people losing their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones - it's just devastating.

The international community needs to step up and take action, whether that means providing more aid, supporting those who are speaking out against these atrocities or even taking more concrete steps like holding people accountable for war crimes 💪. It's not going to be easy, but something has to be done. We can't just sit back and watch as innocent people suffer.

🤕 I'm seriously getting so tired of these platforms where we're supposed to be discussing important issues but it's always a hassle trying to navigate through all the noise and unnecessary drama 🗣️. Like, can't we just focus on the facts for once? 😩 The situation in Darfur is heartbreaking and it feels like no one is doing enough to address the atrocities happening there. I mean, what's with the RSF being labeled a "terrorist organization" yet nothing concrete gets done about it? 🤔 And don't even get me started on how hard it is to find credible sources amidst all the speculation and misinformation 💻. It's like we're stuck in some kind of online echo chamber where no one wants to listen to opposing views 👀.

🤔 I'm not sure how reliable this info is coming from... seems like we're getting reports from multiple sources now? 📰 But seriously, 250k people trapped under RSF control? That's insane 🚨. What's the timeline looking like for aid to get in there and help these civilians? And what about the International Criminal Court investigation - will it be enough to bring some accountability to these war crimes? 💔

🚨 this is so worrying, 250k ppl stuck under RSF control, sounds like total chaos, summary executions & ethnic killings? 🤯 how can human rights orgs not be outraged when vids show RSF celebrating while others are being killed or detained? 📹 need more info on what's happening on ground. also, mathilde vu says civilians in el-Fasher r in grave danger, 1st time heard of aid orgs strugglin to reach affected areas. 🤝 need urgent action from int'l community, esp classifying RSF as terrorist org could help. but war crimes investigation by ICC is still ongoing... 🕰️ can't just sit back & watch ppl suffer, needs more than just alarm bells. 💔

🤕 this is so sad i can barely read about it our history class actually covered darfur like 2 years ago remember how many deaths we learned about it's crazy that it's still happening now with the same groups involved what can be done to stop the rsf tho? maybe if more people raised awareness it could make a difference 🤞 my friend's cousin lives in khartoum and he's been saying some pretty bad things about the srf but i don't think they're actually doing much to help the people out there 🤔
