Surfer bitten in 4th shark attack off Australia’s east coast in 3 days

Fourth Shark Attack Off Australia's East Coast in Three Days Leaves Surfer with Minor Injuries.

A surfer suffered minor injuries after being bitten by a shark on Tuesday at Point Plomer, 290 miles north of New South Wales state capital, in the fourth attack off the coast in three days.

According to Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Life Saving Club captain Matt Worrall, the man was lucky to survive with only minor cuts. The incident occurred around 9 a.m., when the shark attacked the surfboard at Point Plomer, an isolated location that lacked shark netting.

The victim made his own way into shore where he was assisted by locals and later taken to hospital, but fortunately discharged without any further complications.

This is the fourth attack in three days, with earlier incidents involving a 12-year-old boy who suffered critical leg wounds, a 39-year-old man who escaped minor cuts after being bitten on the leg at North Steyne Beach, and an 11-year-old boy whose surfboard was attacked by a shark at Dee Why Beach.

Beaches along New South Wales' northern coast have been closed indefinitely due to these attacks. Authorities warn of poor water quality in areas, which increases the risk of bull shark attacks.

"It's unsafe out there," said Surf Life Saving NSW chief executive Steve Pearce. "If you're thinking about heading into the surf this morning anywhere along the northern beaches, think again."

In November, a Swiss tourist was killed and her partner seriously injured while swimming off a national park north of Sydney.

The situation has raised concerns among beachgoers, with local authorities urging them to stay away from the affected areas.

The attacks have also led to increased calls for shark netting in popular beaches along the east coast.

shark attack 4th in 3 days 🦈😬
can't believe people are still getting bitten... like, what's going on? 🤯
i know some ppl think shark nets r a good idea but i dunno... they look kinda ugly 😐
what about improving water quality tho? that's the real problem here 💧
can't let beachgoers be scared off forever... gotta find a balance or somethin' 🤔
shouldn't we b focusing on making beaches safe for surfers & swimmers alike? 🏄‍♂️🌊

Ugh, I'm so sick of these Aussie beaches being terrorized by sharks 🦈😩! Four attacks in three days? That's just not safe at all 🤕. And now they're closing down beaches indefinitely? I get it, better to be safe than sorry, but what about the surfers who love their spots? Can't they just take some precautions or something? Like wearing wetsuits with shark protection gear 🧶🦈. And why do these areas always have poor water quality?! It's like, can't we get that sorted out for once? 🙄 And now there are calls for shark netting... I'm all for it, let's just keep people safe! 😊

🦈😬 gotta wonder if these beach closures are enough? i mean, its not like they can just slap up some nets and expect everything to be fine 🤷‍♂️ sharks are wild animals and you cant control their behavior 100%. might as well start implementing more advanced monitoring systems or drone patrols to keep people safe 👀

omg like what's goin on out there?? 🤯 four shark attacks in three days is insane!! i feel so bad for that dude who got bitten at point plomer, lucky he made it to shore and didn't end up worse 😬 minor cuts tho is still some major drama. beaches getting closed and people are all like "stay away" i get it, but what's the alternative? shark nets everywhere 🌊👀 need more info on this tho

Omg sharks are like the ultimate party crashers - they just show up uninvited and ruin the vibe 🤣. Like, I'm not saying we should cancel all beach days or anything, but maybe add some extra 'security' to our coastal faves? 🌊 Shark netting is a pretty solid idea, even if it's a bit of an eyesore 😅. On the bright side, at least we're getting some good surf pics out of this deal... RIP shark selfie victims 📸. Seriously though, gotta respect those lifeguards and locals who are trying to keep us safe 🙏. Can't wait for some epic beachy memes to pop up anytime soon 😂🌴

🤔 idk about these shark attacks 🦈... sounds like a classic case of "bad luck" to me 🙅‍♂️. 4 incidents in 3 days? that's just crazy talk 😲... and now they're closing beaches and warning people not to surf? seems like overkill to me 🤦‍♂️. what's the stats on shark attacks per year vs these recent incidents? we need some data to back up this "shark infestation" narrative 📊... I'm just saying, let's keep things in perspective here 👌.

omg i'm telling u, shark nets are not the answer 🐟😬! they're just gonna catch some other marine life too and harm the ecosystem. and what's with all these shark attacks lately? it's like the sharks are more aggressive or something? 🤔 don't get me wrong, safety first and all that, but i'm so over all this hype about sharks... can't we just enjoy our surf sessions without worrying about getting chomped? 😩

Ugh, I'm getting so worried about these shark attacks 🦈😬! First, it's a 12-year-old boy, then an 11-year-old kid, and now another adult. It's like they're just waiting for someone to come out and swim. The beach is closed because of poor water quality, but I still can't believe sharks are in our waters 🤕. Can't we just have some peace while we're enjoying the sun and surf? 😩 And all these calls for shark netting... it's like, how do those things even work? 💡 Do they need to be super thick or something?

Ugh, this is getting crazy 😩! Four shark attacks in three days? That's just not right! I mean, I get it, sharks are wild animals and all that, but can't we do something to keep people safe out there? 🤔 Shark netting, at least, seems like a no-brainer. It might be expensive, but think about the lives that could be saved... 12-year-old kid gets critical leg wounds, poor guy! And now a surfer just got lucky and escaped with minor cuts. What if it wasn't that easy? 🤯

I'm all for preserving our beaches and coastline, but we need to find a way to balance that with keeping people safe. Maybe we can look into more innovative solutions, like using drones or underwater cameras to spot sharks before they attack? Something has gotta change here... 🌊

shark attacks r getting outta hand 🤯

I don’t usually comment but... it's so weird how these shark attacks are happening all at once 🤯. I mean, I've been surfing a lot in Cali and never had any issues, and now this is happening on the East Coast? Like, what's going on with those bull sharks? 🦈 They're supposed to be pretty rare, right?

And it's not just the attacks themselves that are worrying – it's also the fact that beaches along New South Wales' northern coast have been closed indefinitely. I mean, I get it, safety first and all that, but what about all the surfers and beachgoers who rely on those spots? 🤷‍♂️

I don't know if shark netting is the answer, though... I've heard it's super expensive to install and maintain, and it might not even be effective against every type of shark. 🤔 Maybe they should look into other solutions, like increasing surveillance and monitoring in those areas?

omg dont even get me started on these shark attacks lol its like australia's east coast is shark central 🤯 i mean, ive heard of shark attacks before but 4 in 3 days? thats just crazy! 🙅‍♂️ and poor guy who got bitten at point plomer, lucky to be alive with just minor cuts 🤞. beaches r closed indefinitely rn, i get it tho, safety first 🌊.

but come on shark netting needs to happen ASAP 🚧. its not like the ppl r asking for it or anything they jus wanna enjoy the beach w/o worrying about getting chomped 😬. and another thing, what's up w/ poor water quality? cant we jus have clean beaches w/o having to worry about sharks 🌊🤷‍♂️. anyways, stay safe out ther ppl 👍.

I'm getting a bit concerned about these shark attacks 🐟😬. Four incidents in three days? That's just crazy talk! The fact that they're all happening at isolated spots with no shark netting is really worrying. I mean, we know sharks can pop up anywhere, but it seems like the situation is getting out of hand.

I'm not saying we should just cancel all beach trips or anything (although I do think some of these beaches might be a bit sketchy right now 🤔), but seriously, what's going on? Can't we get some more shark netting up and running ASAP? The authorities are warning people to stay away, which is totally fair, but it feels like they're not doing enough to prevent these attacks.

I'm sure there are sharks out there that won't attack humans, but when they do... well, you can see how quickly things can get serious 😬. I just hope the surfers and beachgoers in affected areas are taking this seriously and staying safe until it's all sorted out 🌊💪
