Teen charged in Queens drag racing meetup that led to attack on couple on their lawn

Teenager Embroiled in Drag Racing Meetup Turned Violent Attack on Queens Couple Faces Up to 25 Years Behind Bars

A 19-year-old from Far Rockaway, Justin Aguilera, is facing severe penalties if convicted of participating in a violent attack on a couple in Queens. The alleged assault occurred after a group of drag racing enthusiasts descended upon the neighborhood, causing chaos and destruction. According to authorities, Aguilera was part of the group that engaged in reckless behavior, including speeding, doing doughnuts, and setting off fireworks.

The situation escalated when members of the group set fire to an empty car in the middle of the street. The couple, Blake and Melissa Ferrer, had been confronted by several individuals from the group outside their home, where they were subjected to a violent attack that left them with multiple injuries. The Ferrers' front door was allegedly breached during the assault, which saw Aguilera punch and kick the victim in multiple locations.

The Queens District Attorney's office has accused Aguilera of gang assault and assault charges, with prosecutors alleging he participated in the beating alongside at least three other individuals. He is also facing riot and trespass charges.

"We will not allow our streets to be treated as racetracks," said Melinda Katz, the Queens District Attorney. "This violent incident has outraged our city."

The couple, Blake Ferrer, suffered broken ribs, a shoulder fracture, nose damage, and swelling on his head as a result of the attack. Melissa Ferrer was also injured.

Aguilera's lawyer has yet to comment on the charges. The teenager is being held on $100,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond, with his next court date scheduled for Wednesday.

Police are still searching for three other individuals believed to be involved in the incident and have seized the main vehicle used in the drag racing meetup that night. City Councilmember Vickie Paladino, who represents Malba, has expressed outrage over the NYPD's initial response to the situation and vowed to continue pushing for consequences for those responsible.

Paladino stated that Aguilera was previously arrested for a suspended license after his involvement in another incident in Malba, which helped police identify him as a suspect. She also announced plans to meet with city officials to discuss infrastructure improvements aimed at preventing similar car meetups in the future.

i mean, can you believe this dude aguilera is looking at 25 years behind bars for what basically amounts to being part of a giant party that got outta hand? ๐Ÿคฏ like, i get it, he was there and stuff but come on, how many times do we have to see this kind of thing before people start taking responsibility for their actions? ๐Ÿ™„ and what's with the authorities not cracking down harder on these drag racing meetups in the first place? seems like they're more worried about being popular than keeping people safe ๐Ÿ’”

ugh, can't believe these kids think they own the place ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. first, it's drag racing on the streets, now people getting beaten up... what's next? police are doing their job but city council needs to step up and take responsibility too ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ. and another thing, why can't we just have one decent community meetup without it turning into chaos?! ๐Ÿคฏ and seriously, 25 years in jail is harsh, but I guess you have to make examples out of these reckless kids ๐Ÿš”.

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฌ This is just crazy! These kids are out of control, doing donuts on the street and setting off fireworks. And then they go after an innocent couple? No way. It's like they think the world owes them a thrill ride or something. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ The fact that Justin Aguilera was involved in another incident before this one just makes it worse. He should be held accountable for his actions, no question. ๐Ÿ’ฏ I'm not surprised the city is stepping up to try and prevent these kinds of meetups from happening again. We need more community policing and a crackdown on reckless behavior like this. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ช

It's crazy what can happen when people let their passion get out of control ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, drag racing can be fun and all, but not if it involves causing chaos and putting innocent people in harm's way ๐Ÿšจ. This situation just goes to show that we need to find a balance between having some freedom to enjoy our hobbies and making sure everyone's safety is considered too ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I'm worried about the couple who was attacked - their injuries sound really serious ๐Ÿค•. And with Aguilera facing up to 25 years behind bars, it just goes to show that there are consequences for reckless behavior ๐Ÿ”’. As a city, we need to come together to find solutions to prevent these kinds of incidents in the future ๐Ÿ’ก.

Maybe we can talk about finding community spaces where people can enjoy their passions without causing harm ๐Ÿž๏ธ? It's not that simple, I know, but it seems like something worth exploring ๐Ÿค”.

this is so messed up ๐Ÿค• a 19-year-old gets charged with up to 25 years for causing chaos and setting fire to a car? what's next, is he gonna get a trophy for being part of a wild street party? ๐Ÿ˜’ and btw, $100k bail? that's peanuts for someone who caused real harm. the fact that they were doing doughnuts and fireworks in the middle of the neighborhood is just crazy ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ก This is so crazy how some people think they own the streets and can just do whatever they want ๐Ÿคฏ. If you're gonna set off fireworks and speed around, expect consequences ๐Ÿ’ฅ. And what's with these groups of people thinking they can just take over a neighborhood and attack innocent ppl? ๐Ÿšซ No tolerance for that kind of behavior ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The fact that the cops didn't handle it better on scene is also super suspicious ๐Ÿค”. Should've been more serious, especially considering the severity of the injuries ๐Ÿฅ.

OMG, this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, who does that?! Justin Aguilera needs to learn that dragging is not about racing, it's about respect and community ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ The Queens District Attorney is right on point, we gotta keep our streets safe and prevent these reckless meetups from happening again #JusticeForTheFerrers ๐Ÿ’•

I'm so frustrated that this teenager got a second chance after his previous incident with a suspended license ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's not enough to just slap him on the wrist and expect him to learn from his mistakes. He needs serious consequences for putting innocent lives at risk #AccountabilityForJustin #StreetSafetyMatters ๐Ÿ’ช

And I gotta say, I'm all about supporting our city officials like Vickie Paladino who are pushing for changes that can prevent these incidents in the future ๐Ÿ™Œ From improving infrastructure to increasing community engagement, we need to work together to keep our streets safe and peaceful #QueensDeservesBetter ๐ŸŒ†

The recent incidents of violent drag racing meetups have really got me thinking about public safety and community responsibility ๐Ÿค”. I mean, when you think about it, reckless behavior on the streets is not just a nuisance, but can also lead to some serious injuries and property damage. It's concerning that Aguilera was part of a group engaging in this kind of behavior, which escalated into a violent attack on an innocent couple.

I think what's even more disturbing is the fact that there were already previous incidents involving Aguilera, which led police to identify him as a suspect. The lack of coordination between law enforcement and local authorities is alarming, and it's clear that more needs to be done to prevent such events from occurring in the first place.

It's also interesting to note how Paladino's announcement about infrastructure improvements aims to address the root causes of these incidents. By investing in community development and public safety initiatives, we can potentially reduce the likelihood of similar events happening in the future. Overall, I think it's crucial that we prioritize responsible behavior and public safety, especially when it comes to high-risk activities like drag racing meetups ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

This is super sad what happened to that couple! ๐Ÿค• I feel for them, they must be going through so much pain and recovery time. But you know what's even more concerning? The fact that it all started because of a group of reckless teenagers doing drag racing on the streets ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ. It's crazy how one bad decision can lead to such chaos.

But I do think it's great that Melinda Katz is speaking out about keeping our streets safe, and Vickie Paladino is pushing for changes to prevent something like this from happening again ๐Ÿ’ช. And you know what? Maybe there's an opportunity here for the city to invest in some community programs or initiatives that can help teens like Justin Aguilera find healthier outlets for their energy and creativity.

I mean, we've all been there at some point or another - feeling restless, looking for a rush, wanting to let loose. But there are always better ways to do it than putting people's lives at risk ๐Ÿค. Let's hope that from this tragedy, something positive comes out, like a renewed focus on community building and public safety ๐ŸŒˆ.

๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ’” this is just horrific what kind of people engage in such violent behavior just because they want to have some fun?? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and now that poor couple Blake and Melissa are facing a long road to recovery ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’• we need to come together as a community to support them and make sure justice is served ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”’ hope Justin's lawyer can get him the best help possible and that he learns from his mistakes ๐Ÿ’ก

Man, this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ. I'm all about speeding and having fun on the track, but taking it out on innocent people? Not cool ๐Ÿšซ. Drag racing can be intense, but when you're putting lives at risk, something's gotta give ๐Ÿ’ฅ. The fact that a group of teens were causing chaos and destruction just for the sake of it is wild ๐Ÿคฏ. And to make matters worse, they set fire to an empty car in the middle of the street? That's straight-up reckless endangerment ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

I feel so bad for Blake and Melissa Ferrer, who were just trying to live their lives and then got caught up in this crazy situation ๐Ÿ˜”. Broken ribs, a shoulder fracture, nose damage... that's no joke ๐Ÿ’”. And it's not like they did anything wrong - they didn't even do anything to provoke the group of teens.

It's great that the DA is taking this seriously and charging Aguilera with some serious crimes ๐Ÿš”. And I'm glad to see City Councilmember Vickie Paladino speaking out against the NYPD's initial response ๐Ÿ˜ก. We need better infrastructure in our city to prevent these kinds of incidents from happening, and we need it now โฑ๏ธ.

Anyway, I hope Aguilera gets the help he needs and that the Ferrers recover from their injuries soon ๐Ÿคž.
