... like, I was really looking forward to another trek movie... but at the same time, I don't even know what a kelvin timeline is

. Maybe this cancellation is an opportunity for them to focus on other projects and explore different corners of the Star Trek universe

This is a classic case of Hollywood's all-or-nothing approach - either you're fully committed to a project or you're completely done with it! I think this decision will set back the Star Trek franchise big time 
Now we'll just have to wait for more TV shows to keep me satisfied
