The great Christmas taste test: I tried seven fast food offerings. Which will make me feel festive?

I embarked on a quest to sample seven festive fast food offerings, armed with nothing but my taste buds and a healthy dose of skepticism. The mission was simple: would any of these meals transport me to the merrymaking world of Christmas?

First up was the Chicken Cranberry Katsu from Wagamama. At £15.30, it's an investment, but one that pays off in spades. A katsu curry is a familiar tale, but the addition of cranberries – and a sprinkle of festive flair – elevates this dish to something special. My son devoured his plain katsu, while I savored each bite of our limited-edition delight. The only knock is the extra calories; still, it's a minor transgression for a Christmas treat that's nothing short of delightful.

The Festive Bake from Greggs was next on my list, with its promise of warm, comforting goodness. This is no turkey-themed abomination; rather, a loving tribute to the classic chicken bake. The herb dusting and sage add depth, while the bacon – yes, bacon – injects a welcome salty kick. My only quibble? The white sauce overpowers the other flavours slightly.

Now we arrive at the Double Big Tasty meal from McDonald's. This is a Big Mac with a smoky twist – a bold move, even if it doesn't quite hit its mark. Two bubble and squeak croquettes, however, are a curious choice, casting doubt on Nando's festive credentials.

Krispy Kreme, on the other hand, gets it spot-on with their Festive Dozen donuts. These aren't just sweet treats; they're an immersive experience. Snowmen, Santas, and Christmas trees adorn each donut – and that's the spirit of Christmas in a box.

Last but not least, there's the Stuffing Tower Burger from KFC. This is a tasty burger with a cranberry twist, elevated by the absence of stuffing. While sage and onion may evoke memories of school dinners, it's a minor detour for a truly excellent meal.

As I concluded my festive fast food tasting, I couldn't help but wonder: do any of these meals transport me to the world of Christmas? Some – like Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen – are unapologetic, embracing their seasonal identity. Others, while delicious in their own right, struggle to tap into that same magic.

Ultimately, it's about what you're looking for: a meal that resonates with the spirit of the season or simply something tasty to warm your belly on a chilly winter's day. For this reviewer, at least, Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen is the one to beat – but there are plenty of other festive fast food offerings worth exploring along the way.

I'm tellin' ya, all these new-fangled festivity treats are a bit too extra for me 🤣. Back in my day, we just had a nice roast dinner with the fam and called it a Christmas feast! I mean, have you seen the prices of those fancy Wagamama katsu curries? £15.30?! That's just outrageous! 😱 And don't even get me started on these new "festive" burgers with cranberry and stuffing - what's wrong with a good ol' fashioned turkey sandwich like my mum used to make? 🤷‍♀️

But, I gotta give it up for Krispy Kreme, those Festive Dozen donuts are genius! They're like little Christmas trees in a box 🎄. And the Stuffing Tower Burger from KFC is actually pretty tasty too - all that sage and onion business makes me think of my nan's famous stuffing recipe. Mmm... comfort food at its finest 😋

Anyway, I reckon it's all about what you're lookin' for in a festive meal - if you wanna go all out with the glitz and glamour, Wagamama might be the way to go. But if you just wanna warm your belly on a cold winter's day, then KFC's got you covered 🍗👌

I just tried that new Christmas menu at school canteen and I'm still thinking about it 🤔. The turkey burger was actually really nice, but I think they should do a chicken version like some of these other places 🍗👀. And why not get some festive doughnuts in the canteen too? It would be so cool to have them for breakfast or as a special treat after lunch 😋. But you know what's even better than fast food? A warm cuppa and a chat with friends about our exams... that's my idea of Christmas ☕👫

idk what i did right in 2024 but im hyped for 2025 🤞. anyway, just read this article about festive fast food and gotta say, krispy kreme's got it goin on 👍 their festives dozen donuts sound like a real holiday treat 🎅. personally, im all about that crispy donut life rn 💖 but seriously, its cool how they incorporated the whole christmas thing into the design and presentation of those bad boys 🤩

I gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed that none of these festive fast food options actually transported me to a merry Christmas wonderland 🎄😐. But hey, Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen came close - those snowmen and Santas on the donuts were straight fire 🔥! The rest...meh. Like, I mean, Wagamama's Chicken Cranberry Katsu is solid, but £15.30 for a fast food meal? 🤑 that's just ridiculous. And Greggs' Festive Bake was pretty cool, but that white sauce was like the Grinch - it stole the show 😒. All in all, I'm gonna have to give Krispy Kreme my festive fast food crown 👑...but only because they didn't disappoint me 🤷‍♀️

I'm kinda obsessed with how some food places totally nail the holiday vibe 🎄🍰 like Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen - it's like they're speaking Christmas language or something! The extra details on those donuts, the festive packaging... it's all just so well done. And honestly, who doesn't love a good snowman-shaped donut? 😂 But at the same time, I can totally see why some of these meals might not hit the mark - like that dodgy bacon in Greggs' Festive Bake. It's all about finding that perfect balance between taste and festivity. And let's be real, sometimes it's just about having a yummy meal on a cold winter's day 🍴.

I gotta say, I'm lovin' that article about festive fast food 🤩! You know, people always go on about what they're lookin' for in a holiday meal, and it's all about findin' that perfect balance of taste and atmosphere. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned Christmas treat? The author's right, some places like Krispy Kreme really get into the holiday spirit with their Festive Dozen – it's like a box full of magic ✨! But at the same time, you gotta appreciate the effort that other places put in, even if they don't quite hit the mark. It's all about havin' a good time and enjoyin' what the season has to offer 🎄.

omg i just had the craziest thought... what if we made christmas a fast food holiday 🍔❄️? like, we'd have special menus every year at all restaurants and we'd have to try every single thing on them before the holiday is over 😂🎅. that would be so much fun... but also kinda weird... i mean, would they have cranberry katsu for halloween too? 🤔

I gotta say, I was kinda feeling nostalgic while tryin' out these festive fast food faves 😊. You know what? Some of 'em were pretty close to the Christmas magic, if you ask me! The Wagamama's Chicken Cranberry Katsu was straight fire - it was like a taste explosion in my mouth! And don't even get me started on Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen... I mean, who wouldn't want a whole box of snowmen and Santas just chillin' with their donuts? 🎄🍩 Those things were straight-up festive.

But, you know what the thing is? Some of 'em, like Greggs' Festive Bake, they're more like Christmas cookies in disguise. They're still yummy, but they're not exactly transportin' me to a winter wonderland or nothin'. 🎅👀 And McDonald's Double Big Tasty... I mean, it was okay, but it felt kinda like the festive version of their usual Big Mac thing. Not bad, just not exactly special.

Anyway, if you're lookin' for that Christmas magic in your fast food, I'd def recommend checkin' out Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen. But hey, if you wanna try somethin' new and see what sticks, go ahead! It's all about findin' that holiday cheer, right? 🎁

I think it's pretty cool that Krispy Kreme got it right with their Festive Dozen donuts 🎅👍 They just nailed the whole Christmas vibe and made it into a super fun experience. And I gotta agree, some of those fast food options were like "meh" 🤔 like McDonald's Double Big Tasty meal - what was up with that bubble and squeak croquette thing? 🤷‍♂️

OMG, I'm so down for trying all these festive fast food faves! 🍰🎅️ I mean, who doesn't love a good Christmas treat? But, like, some of them are totally on point, you know? Like, Krispy Kreme's Festive Dozen is a total win - those donuts with the snowmen and Santas? Genius! 🤩 And the Stuffing Tower Burger from KFC? That sounds so good, I need to try it ASAP! 😋

But, at the same time, I can see why some of them might not be entirely festive... like that weird Double Big Tasty meal from McDonald's. Bubble and squeak croquettes? What? 🤔 And the Festive Bake from Greggs was pretty good, but that white sauce did overpower the other flavors a bit.

I think what it all comes down to is finding that perfect balance between deliciousness and festive spirit. Like, if I'm gonna get my Christmas fix, I want it to be amazing, you know? 🎄 And Krispy Kreme definitely delivers on that front! 👍

I gotta disagree with this whole thing... 🤔 I mean, what's the point of doing a special Christmas meal just because it's Christmas? Can't we just enjoy our burgers and fries like normal people? The fact that these places are trying to make a big deal about their holiday food is just kinda cheesy. And don't even get me started on how overpriced everything is... £15.30 for a katsu curry? That's just ridiculous. I'm good with my regular old takeout any day of the week 🤷‍♂️

🍰 I think what sets Krispy Kreme apart is their ability to create an immersive experience around their Festive Dozen donuts 🎄. It's not just about the taste, but the aesthetic and the nostalgia that comes with it. I can totally see why those would transport you to a festive state of mind! 😊 Meanwhile, McDonald's Double Big Tasty feels like a bit of a misfire 🤔. Who thought bubble and squeak croquettes belonged in a Christmas meal? 😂
