The Guardian view on deprived neighbourhoods: incomes as well as places need a boost | Editorial

omg this is like totally heartbreaking 🤕 these ppl stuck in economic traps gotta be livin on edge daily 💸 cant believe the gov's lack of effort on lvl up strategy it feels like they're all talk no action rn 😒 but i do love that labour party is takin matters into their own hands 👏 and the fact that they're plannin to invest more in the north-east during this parliament is def a step in the right direction 🚀 lets hope they can make a real difference 💖

omg u gotta believe this data on England's most deprived areas is straight fire!!! 🚒 like its no surprise that labour party heartlands are stuck in economic traps tho idk how else u can explain it lol the north-east gettin all the investment love meanwhile london's inner city is just getting more expensive by the day 😩 housing costs are literally makin it impossible for ppl to afford a place to live... its all about affordable housing, gov u gotta step up ur game 💪

I'm surprised I'm even commenting on this now 😂... like, weeks after everyone's moved on. But seriously, the data on these deprived areas really hits home. It's crazy how many Labour heartlands are struggling. Blackpool and Middlesbrough? That's not what I'd associate with the party.

I feel like the Tories' benefits cap is a huge issue here... or should be! The government needs to rethink their approach to tackling poverty, instead of just throwing money at it. And affordable housing is key. Pride in Place sounds all well and good, but it's not a silver bullet. We need real change, not just cosmetic fixes.

The levelling up strategy seems like a nice idea on paper, but if it doesn't deliver tangible results... I'm sure Labour would be happy to take the reins. At least they're promising something concrete this time around 🤞
