The truth behind the disappearance of Charlene Downes: 'She was reduced to this salacious, shocking story'

ugh, 20 years after charlene downes went missing and her family is still dealing with the trauma... and it's all because of how the media sensationalized her case making her sound like some kinda "kebab girl" 🤢 4k+ ppl on a facebook group trying to solve her murder but it's all just a bunch of trolls & hostsilts towards witnesses... police failed her cuz she was poor & from a lower class... it's all about class & social status in this case & no one is even talking about the grooming gangs & rapists involved... ray munro, who was gonna get sentenced for child sex offenses at the time, still free... charlene's family deserves justice & i'm so tired of true crime being used as entertainment instead of a call to action

🤕 the way charlene's disappearance has been handled is just heartbreaking, so many ppl still believe those 2 guys got away with murder 🚫 I think its time we focus on how her family was failed, especially cuz of her social status... like she was labeled a "runaway" instead of being taken seriously. and the media sensationalizing her story? no thanks 😒 i also feel for nicola thorp, who's trying to expose the truth & make ppl think about how charlene's case can be used to change the system 🤝 instead of just being another true crime podcast. we need more awareness about systemic issues like grooming gangs & police mishandling cases 💔

I'm so done with all these true crime podcasts 🤯. They're always sensationalizing the same cases, making them sound like some kinda twisted fairy tale. Charlene Downes' story is actually really sad - she was just 14 when she went missing and her family has been searching for answers for ages. But instead of getting a good investigation, she's being used as some kinda "kebab girl" trope 🚮.

It's not like the police were incompetent or anything... they're just so caught up in their own biases. Like Nicola Thorp said, Charlene was a "runaway" because of her social status, but what about all those times she got bullied at school? Doesn't that count as a reason to take her disappearance seriously? 🤔

And don't even get me started on the media 📰. They're always so quick to jump on sensationalized stories and make them into clickbait headlines. It's like they've forgotten that people are actually human beings behind these cases.

I do love Nicola Thorp's idea of making a podcast series, though 💡. It's about time someone brought some balance to the true crime scene and gave voice to the victims' families. But can we please just focus on actual justice for once? 🤷‍♀️
