US Treasury Drafts Coin Featuring Trump, But It's the Wrong Way to Honor Him

The US treasury has unveiled a design for a $1 coin featuring Donald Trump on both sides, with the intention of celebrating America's 250th birthday and his own presidency. This move seems like a step in the right direction – or should I say, a step backwards?

In reality, this coin is just one part of Trump's efforts to immortalize himself through various tributes and monuments. The former president has been pushing for a new stadium to be named after him, as well as a $300m ballroom in the White House that's already bearing his name.

Now, I'm not arguing against honoring America's history or its leaders. But Trump's brand of self-glorification is different from what we would consider typical in a democracy. Fascist dictators have long used monuments to elevate themselves above their subjects. We, on the other hand, prefer to remember our heroes after they've passed away, often with public consensus.

What Trump has done, however, is anything but heroic. He's been involved in a coup attempt, claiming an election was "stolen" without evidence and inciting violence at the US Capitol that resulted in five deaths and 174 injuries to police officers. After being re-elected, he pardoned thousands of people connected to the Capitol attack and attempted to erase the nation's memory of his actions.

Rather than celebrating this treachery, we should be working to ensure that future generations remember Trump for what he did – not how he wishes to be remembered. A simple building constructed of iron and cement, with records of his attacks on democracy and names of those who aided him, would serve as a more fitting tribute.

Over its doorway, the words "Trump's Treason" could be inscribed, serving as a warning to future leaders about the dangers of undermining democratic institutions. The structure itself could be situated on the White House lawn where Trump's ballroom once stood, facing outward toward Pennsylvania Avenue so that families visiting the capital can easily access it.

This is not a monument to Trump himself, but rather a reminder of his impact on American democracy. It would be a fitting tribute to those who have fought to protect our freedoms and institutions.

Honestly, I think this is a super bad idea 🙅‍♂️. I get that the US wants to celebrate its 250th birthday, but featuring Trump's face on a coin? It just seems like he's trying to cement his own legacy in a way that's really narcissistic 💁‍♂️. I mean, we should be honoring our leaders for what they've done for the country, not just for themselves. And let's be real, Trump's actions have been super divisive and hurtful, especially towards certain groups 🤕. We should be focusing on preserving democracy and freedom, not glorifying someone who's tried to undermine those very things 🔒. A monument or memorial that actually acknowledges his role in undermining democracy would be way more fitting, imo 💔.

I gotta say, this $1 coin design with Trump's face all over it is just plain weird 😕. I mean, can't we just focus on honoring the people who actually helped build America instead of glorifying someone who tried to undermine its foundations? I'm all for remembering our history, but when it comes to figures like Trump, we should be more nuanced in our approach. What's next? A coin featuring his face and a selfie with the Statue of Liberty? 🤣 It just feels so... self-serving.

I'd much rather see a monument or building that actually reflects on the impact of Trump's actions, you know, something that warns future leaders about the dangers of extremism and erosion of democracy. That would be a fitting tribute, in my opinion 💡. The current design just comes across as petty and attention-seeking, which isn't exactly the kind of vibe we want to send to our kids when it comes to role models 🤦‍♂️.

I just saw this thread about that new coin with Trump's face on it 🤑 and I gotta say, what a total misfire 😂. Like, come on, guys, can't we just honor the country without turning into fascist dictators? 🤯 It's all about how you spin it, right? I mean, we're not celebrating Trump's presidency, we're commemorating America's 250th birthday... yeah sure 💸. The real question is, what's next? A statue of him too? 😩

omg this coin thingy is such a bad idea 🙅‍♂️ like what's next, a statue of trump in the middle of DC? no way, we shouldn't even commemorate him with a building lol. i mean, he did some super sketchy stuff like trying to overturn an election and inciting violence at the capitol... that's not something you wanna glorify or make it seem cool 😳. a proper monument should be a reminder of how serious his actions were, not a way for him to stroke his ego 🤣. we need somethin' that says "don't mess with democracy" instead of "look at me i'm trump". idk about puttin' it on the white house lawn tho... maybe just leave it in a dark corner where no one can see it 👀.

🤔 this new $1 coin idea is kinda rich coming from trump's crew, given all the drama he stirred up at the us capitol 🏛️ it's like they're trying to create a whole new brand of hero worshiping 🙅‍♂️ would rather see somethin' more meaningful, like a memorial for those who lost their lives during the storming 🌪️

omg u guys i just cant even with this new trump coin 🤯 like what is wrong with the ppl in charge?! can't they see that honoring him this way is literally the opposite of what we should be doing? it's like they wanna erase his history and replace it with a bunch of lies about how great he was as president lol. i mean have u seen all the monuments and tributes he's been trying to get for himself? it's wild. instead of making a coin or building a stadium, shouldn't we be focusing on remembering the real heroes who've fought for our country's freedoms? like, what about all the ppl who got injured at the capitol during his presidency? shouldn't they be remembered more than trump?! 😡 anyway i just had to share my two cents on this...i think a memorial building with records of his attacks on democracy would be so much better. it'd be a way for us to remember what really happened and not get fooled by trump's propaganda 🤥
