‘Therapuss’ Podcaster Jake Shane to Star In Hulu Comedy Project Based on His Own Life (EXCLUSIVE)

Hulu Set to Bring Jake Shane's Life Story to Screen in New Comedy Series

A half-hour comedy series based on the life of "Therapuss" podcaster and comedian Jake Shane is in development at Hulu. The show, which stars Shane playing a version of himself, follows him and his best friends as they navigate online fame, its impact on their friendships, and the tension it causes in their suburban neighborhood.

Shane will executive produce and star in the series, with Genevieve Aniello set to write and executive produce the pilot. Paul Briganti will direct and executive produce, while Alec Berg ("Barry," "Silicon Valley") and Amy Solomon are also attached as executive producers via their overall deal with 20th TV.

Shane's success with his podcast, which launched in January 2024, has led to numerous high-profile guests including Tate McRae, Renee Rapp, Glen Powell, Charli XCX, Ben Platt, Ed Sheeran, Joe Jonas, Saweetie, Rosé, FKA Twigs, Katy Perry, Coco Jones, Lisa Rinna, Lea Michele, Lorde and Addison Rae. The show has also led to a live tour, "Live With Jake Shane," which hit 36 cities this year.

Shane's recent credits include guest starring on the HBO series "Hacks" and releasing his debut comedy album "Puss & Poems," featuring 13 tracks written and produced with Alexander 23. The album reached the top 5 on Billboard's comedy chart.

The project is a prime example of how creators are leveraging their online presence to build successful careers in television and film. Shane's success with his podcast has not only led to this new series but also numerous high-profile collaborations and appearances, cementing his status as one of the most in-demand comedians in the industry today.

omg can't wait for this show 🤣 imagine jake shane navigating online fame and still managing to be a decent human being lol what's next a show about tim heidecker's struggles with being a "trendsetter" 🙄 anyway i'm stoked hulu is investing in more comedy content that actually resonates with people like me who are stuck in the suburbs 🤦‍♂️

OMG 🤩 like I'm literally super stoked about this news! Jake Shane is literally my ultimate fave comedian ever 😍 and to see him bring his life story to screen on Hulu? 📺👏 it's gonna be soooo lit!!! 🎉 i mean, have you seen his podcast tho? 🤣 he's got such amazing chemistry with his friends and guests. I'm literally counting down the days till this show drops! 🕰️ I've already gotten my Hulu subscription just for this 😂 and I know I'll be binging every episode in one sitting 💀 Can't wait to see him slay on screen again!!! 💁‍♂️

I'm low-key hyped for this new comedy series on Hulu about Jake Shane 🤣. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a show based on their life, especially when it's got that online fame thing going on? It's like, how relatable can you get, right? 😂 I'm curious to see how they'll tackle the whole suburban neighborhood drama and friendship struggles. And with all those big-name guests, this is gonna be a wild ride! 🎉 The fact that creators are leveraging their online presence to make it big in TV and film is just proof that social media isn't going anywhere anytime soon 💻.

Man... I think what's cool about Jake Shane's story is how he's turned online fame into something real... I mean, we've all been there, creating content just to share it with people and get some validation, but when you're able to make a career out of it? That's next level. It's like, the internet can be both a blessing and a curse, right? But for someone like Jake Shane, who's willing to put himself out there and be vulnerable, it can lead to amazing opportunities. And I think that's what this show is gonna explore - not just the highs of online fame, but also the lows and how you navigate all the drama that comes with it. It's a reminder that success isn't just about the external validation we get from others, but also about staying true to ourselves and our values 🤔💡

I'm kinda excited about this new comedy series on Hulu based on Jake Shane's life 🤣. As a fan of his podcast "Therapuss", I've enjoyed watching him tackle real-life issues with humor and wit. But, at the same time, I worry that the show will be all about him being a social media star rather than actual storytelling 📺. Still, with Genevieve Aniello on board as writer, maybe we'll see a more nuanced exploration of online fame's impact on our lives 💻. And hey, if it leads to even more amazing collaborations and appearances, I'm all for it 😊. Just hope they don't overdo the "online fame" aspects... that could get messy 🤪

🤔 This is gonna be an interesting show... I mean, who wouldn't wanna watch a comedy series about someone who's basically created their own online persona? It's like they're documenting themselves 24/7. I'm curious to see how it'll tackle the whole "online fame" thing, though. Will it just be a shallow look at social media antics or will it delve deeper into the actual impact on Shane's personal life? 🤷‍♂️ Also, 36 cities for his live tour? That's wild... I'm not sure if I'd wanna pay to see someone I only know from their podcast. Still, I'll keep an eye on this and might even tune in just out of curiosity 😏

OMG 🤦‍♂️, can't believe Hulu is cashing in on Jake Shane's online fame already 🤑. Like, I get it, he's got a popular podcast and all that jazz 🎙️, but do they really need to turn his life into a comedy series? It just feels like a desperate attempt to cling to relevance 😒. And what's with the "Therapuss" part? Is that even relevant to his actual work or is it just trying to be edgy? 🤔 I'm not sold on this one, guys...

OMG 🤯 I'm low-key obsessed with Jake Shane's "Therapuss" podcast and I think this new comedy series is gonna be fire 🔥! It's so cool to see how he's leveraging his online presence to create even more content and opportunities for himself and his friends. I love that the show is gonna explore the ups and downs of online fame and its impact on their personal relationships. Can't wait to see what they come up with 🤔📺!

I'm loving this news! 😊 A show about navigating online fame? It's like they're speaking my language! 📺 I mean, who hasn't struggled with social media pressure or FOMO (fear of missing out)? 🤯 Jake Shane's story is so relatable and hilarious. Plus, he's got an amazing team behind him - Genevieve Aniello and Paul Briganti are gonna bring the funny! 💃 And can we talk about his impressive guest list? 🤩 I'm excited to see how they'll tackle the darker side of online fame (e.g., mental health, relationships) in a lighthearted way. This show is gonna be so good for people who've been feeling like they're stuck between their online and offline selves - it's time for some authentic humor! 😂

lol what's up with all these podcasts turning into TV shows? it's like we're living in a never ending episode of "The Office" 🤣💁‍♂️ anyway, i'm hyped for this new show, it sounds like Jake Shane is just being himself (which we can all relate to) and navigating the wild world of online fame. gotta say, his guest list tho... who wouldn't want to hang out with Jake Shane? 🤩🎉

omg u gotta see this!!! 🤣 so jake shane is like a podcaster/comedian and he's getting his own show on hulu! it's gonna be a comedy series about him and his friends navigating online fame lol what even is that?! anyway i'm low-key excited for the show, especially since genavieve aniello is writing the pilot 🤔 also can we talk about how cool is jake shane already? he's like a social media rockstar with all these famous guests on his podcast! 💥

aww this is so cool I can imagine how crazy life must be for Jake Shane after making it big with his podcast lol its like a fish out of water situation navigating online fame and keeping friendships alive too much pressure? 🤔 still super excited to see him bring his story to screen and hope the show does justice to his wild ride 🎉

I'm really stoked about this new comedy series at Hulu 🤣! I mean, who wouldn't want to see Jake Shane's hilarious takes on online fame and suburban life on screen? 😂 As a fan of his podcast, I've gotten to know him pretty well (or at least, I think I have 🤷‍♂️), and I can already imagine the witty banter and relatable moments that'll be packed into this show. Plus, having Genevieve Aniello on board as a writer and executive producer is a huge plus - her work on "Schitt's Creek" was amazing, and I know she'll bring that same heart and humor to this project.

It's also pretty cool to see Jake Shane using his platform to explore the ups and downs of online fame. As someone who's been following him from the beginning, I've seen how he's used his podcast to connect with fans and build a community around his content. This show is going to be a great way for him to share that experience with an even wider audience.

One thing that's really interesting about this project is how it reflects the changing ways we consume comedy and entertainment today. With Jake Shane's podcast success, he's become a prime example of how creators can leverage their online presence to build successful careers in TV and film. It's a pretty exciting time for comedy fans, and I'm stoked to see where this show takes us! 🎉

omg i'm so stoked about this new comedy series on Hulu 🤣! jake shane's life story is literally so relatable especially with all these celebs coming to collaborate with him idk how he does it but i guess having a huge following online must be super helpful in getting those big-name guests on his podcast 📻 it's wild to think about how one person can just build an entire career from scratch like that. and 20th TV is attached as exec producers which means this show is gonna be fire 🔥!

omg i'm so down for a comedy series about jake shane's life 🤣 he's already killing it with his podcast and now this? can't wait to see him bring the funny on screen! 👏 gotta love how creators are using their online presence to build their careers, it's like proof that all those hours spent making content pay off 💸 20th tv is really bringing out the big guns for this one, with alicec berg and amy solomon attached as exec producers 🤩 anyway, i'm curious to see how jake shane will portray himself on screen, will it be a accurate depiction of his life or more comedic take? either way, i'm here for it! 😂

omg can u believe jake shane is making a show about himself lol what's next? a sitcom about my aunt's life story 🤣. but seriously tho, it's kinda cool that he's getting his own thing on hulu. i mean, who wouldn't wanna watch a show about online fame and suburban drama? it's like a fish out of water situation for him, navigating the 'real world' after being so comfortable in his online bubble 🤯. also i'm low-key hyped that genevieve aniello is writing the pilot, she's got some sick comedic skills 💁‍♀️. fingers crossed the show doesn't turn into a cringy trainwreck 🚂
