Three siblings succumbed to icy waters in Texas during the ongoing winter storm, their mother recalling the desperate moments when she desperately tried to save them.
In a heart-wrenching account, Cheyenne Hangaman said her three sons, aged 6, 8 and 9, fell through an icy pond across from where they were staying. The siblings' tragic fate was sealed as Hangaman, who had warned them about the dangers of the pond, frantically jumped into the freezing water to try and save them.
"I was just screaming, telling me to help them," Hangaman recounted, her voice trembling with grief. "And I watched all of them struggle, struggling to stay above the water. I watched all of them fight." Despite her valiant efforts, Hangaman managed to grab onto a rope thrown by a passerby and was eventually pulled to safety.
The siblings' tragic demise has sent shockwaves through their community, with the Bonham Independent School District cancelling classes for the day due to extreme weather conditions. The school district's superintendent expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the victims, describing the loss as "unimaginable."
As Hangaman reflected on her children's bubbly personalities, she said: "You couldn't really stop their bubbliness." Their sudden passing has left a gaping hole in the lives of those who knew them.
The region affected by the severe cold has witnessed over 40 reported deaths so far.

i feel like i'm gonna cry thinking about this poor woman and her 3 kids 
their mom is still shaken up and it's just heartbreaking to think about how fast everything went from bad to worst...like she was literally warning them about the pond but she couldn't save them 
and now they're just gone 
i can imagine how hard it must be for her to process all this grief right now 
she keeps talking about their bubbly personalities and it's like, my goodness, they sound like such sweet kids...and now they're not here anymore

Oh man this is like totally heartbreaking!!! How can you even be alive after witnessing something like that?!?! I'm literally sobbing thinking about those poor kids, they were just 6, 8 and 9 years old, what do they know about death?!?! And their mom, she's still trying to process it all, I don't think anyone could ever go through something like this and come out unscathed. Those kids' memories are now forever tainted by the tragedy of that icy pond... 
. Losing three kids at once must be just devastating. And to think about all those people who were out there trying to help her in that moment... it's just a reminder of how selfless we should strive to be as humans

This tragic event is like, what's going on with our infrastructure? I mean, isn't it common sense to have warning signs around icy ponds during winter storms? 
And why didn't they get proper training on how to respond in emergencies? It's not like we're expecting a major catastrophe or anything, just basic precautions. You know how this is going to affect the next election - the opposition party will be all over this, saying our governor isn't doing enough to protect citizens. I'm sure it'll be a big talking point at the next town hall meeting...
