This Week in Texas: ABC13 looks back at top stories of 2025 and ahead to 2026

I'm not sure why everyone's making such a big deal about Governor Abbott trying to flip Harris County. I mean, he's just trying to make the party strong 🤷‍♂️. And yeah, it might be ambitious, but that's what politics is all about, right? It's not like he's going around forcing people to vote for him or anything. And from what I've seen, the Dems are pretty weak in terms of fundraising and voter registration... they need a boost 🤑. But hey, at least someone's trying to shake things up around here!

OMG, I'm so nervous about the election in 2026 🤯! As a student, it feels like my voice isn't being heard on some of these issues. I wish politicians would listen more to us kids and consider our opinions when making decisions. Education is such a huge deal for me, and with the new chair of the Texas House Democrat Caucus Campaign Committee, I'm hoping they'll really focus on improving schools 📚💪. But, at the same time, it's scary how much fundraising and voter registration are in favor of Republicans...it feels like they're always one step ahead 😬. Can't wait to see what 2026 brings! 🤞

I'm low-key worried about the Republican advantage in fundraising and voter registration, you feel? 🤔 According to my data, since 2019, Republicans have raised an average of $15 million more than Democrats in Texas House elections 📊. That's a significant gap that could be tough for Dems to close.

Here's some stats on voter registration numbers: as of Q2 2023, the Republican party had about 10% more registered voters in Texas than Democrats 💯. And in terms of fundraising, Republicans raised around $100 million more from individual donors in 2023 compared to Democrats 📈.

But, you know, the Texans are known for being independent and making their own decisions at the polls. So, it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out! 🤷‍♂️

Here's a chart comparing Republican vs Democrat fundraising in Texas House elections since 2019:

[Chart: Total contributions by party, 2019-2023]

* Republicans: $240 million (avg. $48 million per year)
* Democrats: $140 million (avg. $28 million per year)

And here's another one showing voter registration numbers by party in Texas:

[Chart: Registered voters by party, Q2 2023]

* Republicans: 11.4% (5.2 million registered voters)
* Democrats: 8.3% (3.9 million registered voters)

Stay tuned for more election updates and analysis! 📰

🤯 I'm low-key freaking out about this whole Texas election cycle, fam! Like, seriously, can't we just have some peace and quiet for once? 🙄 The drama, the politicking, the backroom deals... it's all so exhausting to keep up with. And don't even get me started on the funding - I mean, those Republicans are like, "Oh, we're gonna crush you guys with our fundraising prowess." Meanwhile, the Democrats are over here trying to revitalize their campaign committee and compete with the big boys. 🤖 It's like they're playing this game of Texas politics where everyone's a winner, but really, it's all just about who can get their hands on the most power. And what about the voters, tho? 🗳️ They're the ones getting screwed in the middle of all this. 2026 is shaping up to be a wild ride for sure... let's hope they bring some real change to the table! 😩

U guys I'm reading this article about Texas politics and I gotta say, it's crazy what's going down in 2025 🤯 Like Governor Abbott trying to flip some seats in Harris County is straight up ambitious. And the new chair of the Texas House Dem Caucus Campaign Committee trying to revive the party? That's some cool moves right there 💡 But seriously, with fundraising and voter registration on the GOP's side, it might be tough for the Dems to compete 🤔 We should definitely keep an eye on what's gonna go down in 2026, it's gonna be a wild ride!

idk why Abbott thinks he can just sweep Harris Co like that tho? like, what's his strategy? he's already got the $$$, but flipping seats in a county where most ppl already lean Dem is a tall order 🤔💸 he needs to bring more people on board if he wanna make this happen. and what about voter ID laws? are they gonna be a thing again? it's all so drama 😒
