The whole thing is just so messed up... I mean, think about it, Trump decides to share some racist video on his social media account and then deletes it hours later because he knows how much backlash he'd get. Meanwhile, his White House team is trying to downplay the whole thing by saying it's just a "lion king meme"

. Newsflash: that meme has been used to spread racism for years, and it's not okay to use it to mock Black people.
And what really gets my goat is that the White House is still trying to justify allowing racist content to spread on their platforms. I mean, come on guys, you can't just pretend like this isn't a problem. It's time for some real accountability and sensitivity training around here.
I'm also really disappointed in the lack of outrage from other Republican lawmakers. Where were they when Trump was posting this video? Shouldn't they be speaking out against racism too?
This whole incident makes me wonder if we're taking racism seriously enough in our country. We need to have some tough conversations about what's acceptable and what's not, and we need to hold people like Trump accountable for their actions.
Anyway, I'm glad the video is gone, but it's also a reminder that we still have a long way to go in terms of treating each other with respect and dignity.
