Trump rejects new Venezuela election until US can "rebuild the oil"

US Seeks Control of Venezuela's Oil Sector Before Holding New Elections

President Donald Trump has indicated that Venezuela is not yet ready for free and fair elections, stating that the country would need to "rebuild" its oil industry before such a move could be considered. The US government's assertion of control over Venezuela comes after the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, with Vice President Delcy Rodríguez currently serving as the acting president.

According to Trump, the current state of Venezuela makes it impossible for the country to hold elections, saying "They couldn't have an election...The country's become Third World, and they wouldn’t know how to have an election right now." In order for new elections to take place, Trump believes that the US needs to exert control over Venezuela's oil sector, with estimates suggesting an investment of at least $100 billion.

Trump plans to meet with top oil executives on Friday to discuss rebuilding efforts in Venezuela. He has stated that he expects significant investment from oil companies and will be involved in overseeing the reconstruction process. While Trump claims that this will ultimately lead to free and fair elections, opposition leader María Corina Machado has expressed skepticism about the feasibility of such an outcome.

Machado, who won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, has stated that she is confident of winning a majority of votes in any future election, but her claim seems unlikely given Trump's assertion of US control over Venezuela.

$100 billion for oil? That's like putting all their eggs in one basket 💸. I'm not sure what's more concerning – the fact that Trump thinks he can fix Venezuela or the fact that the rest of the world is just sitting around waiting to see what happens next 🤯. And what about the people of Venezuela who actually live there? Don't they deserve a say in their own country's future? It's like they're not even on the radar 📍.

I mean come on... $100 billion? That's just crazy talk! 🤑 They're gonna bring in the big guns and basically tell Venezuela who to run their oil industry like they're some kinda kid's playground 🤣. I'm no expert, but it seems like Trump's got his mind made up already and isn't listening to anyone else's opinions. What even is the point of holding elections if they just gonna manipulate the system? And what about all these corruption allegations against Maduro? It's not like Trump's solution is gonna magically make everything okay 🙄

man this is crazy 🤯 I dont think its right for the US to try and take over Venezuelas oil sector before they even have elections lol whats next? they're like "hey we'll only give you a fair chance to vote if you let us run your country"... its like, no thanks 🙅‍♂️ and btw did she really just win the Nobel Peace Prize this year?! that's wild 💥

this whole situation with venezuela just feels so shady 🤑...like trump is more interested in getting his hands on their oil than actually helping the country stabilize. and now they're saying venezuela can't even hold elections because it's "third world"? that's just a pretty weak excuse if you ask me 😒. plus, machado winning the nobel peace prize in 2025? 🤯 what a coincidence! seems like trump is trying to undermine any opposition with his control over the oil sector. not sure what's more alarming, the fact that venezuela's government is being puppeteered by the us or that trump thinks $100 billion is even enough to "rebuild" their entire economy 💸...anyway, i'm keeping a close eye on this situation 👀

🤔 this is getting serious, you guys think trump thinks he can just waltz in and take control of venezuela like it's his own backyard? and what even is with the $100 billion investment? that's like asking a small country to solve all its problems overnight 🙄. newsflash, trump: venezuela ain't gonna change because you say so. they got their own ways of doing things and if you wanna keep meddling in their affairs, you're gonna have some serious pushback 🔥

I dont think its fair that the US wants to take control of Venezuelas oil sector before they hold elections 🤔🚫. Its like they're saying we cant be trusted to govern ourselves until you step in and fix everything 💸. And what about the people who want more than just an investor's profit? Where does their voice come in? 😐.

I mean, I get it, Venezuela needs help, but isnt that what international aid is for? 🤝 We dont need the US telling us how to run our country or extract our resources. It feels like a case of corporate interests over people's lives 💔.

And by the way, has anyone seen any plans from Trump on how he plans to make sure those $100 billion investments actually benefit the Venezuelan people? 🤑 Its all about the benjamins, right? 🙄
