Trump rules out VP run in 2028, but says he ‘would love’ a third term

US President Donald Trump has stated that he would love to serve a third term in office, despite being barred by the US Constitution from doing so. The 79-year-old president made the comments on Monday during a press conference on board Air Force One as he flew from Malaysia to Japan.

When asked about his intentions for the 2028 presidential election, Trump stated that he would not run for vice president, citing concerns over its constitutionality. He referred to the idea of serving as vice president as "too cute" and said that it wouldn't be right with the American people.

However, Trump did express interest in potentially running for a third term as president, stating that he has his "best numbers ever." When pressed by reporters on whether he was ruling out another presidential bid entirely, Trump responded ambiguously, saying that he would have to be told if he was or not.

Some scholars have pointed out that Trump is also barred from running for vice president because of the 12th Amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibits individuals who are constitutionally ineligible for the presidency from holding the office of vice-president.

Trump did, however, express support for his potential successors in 2028, praising Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as "great people" who could potentially seek the presidency. He also suggested that they would form an unstoppable team if they were to run together.

The US president's comments have sparked renewed speculation about his intentions for the future and whether he will attempt to circumvent the two-term limit set by the US Constitution.

You know, I've been following this whole Trump situation for a while now 🤔... and honestly, it's all just getting a bit too much for me. He thinks he can just waltz in for another term? Newsflash, Donald: 3 terms is still way over the limit 📝... trust me, I've been around the block a few times, seen my fair share of power struggles and politics 🕰️. The thing that worries me isn't so much the constitutional limits, but what happens when he decides to push those boundaries even further? What's good for him might not be so good for everyone else 🤝... I just hope we all keep a close eye on this one 👀

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 🤯 Trump's comments are definitely getting under everyone's skin right now! I mean, serving a third term? It's like something out of a movie or a crazy conspiracy theory 😂. And what's with this "too cute" thing about being vice president? I don't get it either... But for real though, some people might think he's just trolling us at this point 🤷‍♂️.

I'm not sure what's more concerning – the fact that he thinks he can get away with serving a third term or that he's still got that spark in him to run for office again 💥. Either way, it's gonna be super interesting to watch how this all plays out over the next few years 📆.

What do you guys think? Do you think Trump has any shot at running again? 🤔

idk how much longer he can keep going on like this... 79 is old even for a politician lol. but seriously, a third term? that's just crazy talk. what's next? trying to overturn the constitution or something? i'm all for him having an opinion and all, but come on man, gotta follow the rules. doesn't seem like he's done with politics yet though...

🤦‍♂️ Oh boy, here we go again... 79 years old and still trying to cling to power? 🙄 Like anyone's surprised at this point, right? The guy can't even follow the rules he wrote for himself (see: term limits). I mean, come on, Donald, either be a martyr or move on. Your ego can't handle the embarrassment of losing an election? 🤔 Newsflash, Donny: America doesn't need your "best numbers ever" – we need competent leadership that doesn't make us wonder if we'll have to use a Ouija board to figure out what's going on. 😂

OMG, I don't even know what's going on anymore 🤯! Trump is literally thinking of serving a third term as President? Like, isn't that against the law already? 🙄 And now he's saying it wouldn't be right if he ran for VP too? Isn't that kinda weird considering he can't run for President again? 🤔 I get that he might wanna stay in office but come on, dude! Can't we just follow the rules like everyone else? 🚫 It's like he's trying to find a loophole or something... 😬 Anyways, it's gonna be super interesting to see what happens next. Maybe JD Vance and Marco Rubio will team up with him and try to change the law? 🤯 That would be some wild stuff!
