I'm not sure what's gotten into our country right now... Reminds me of when they brought in those National Guard troops to LA back in '92 during the Rodney King riots . Thought that was a huge overreach at the time, but I guess it's business as usual for this admin now? I mean, what's next? Deploying the military to enforce traffic laws or something ? It just seems like they're trying to do everything themselves and not listen to anyone else. And what about all those families who are actually fleeing violence or persecution in their home countries? Are we really going to send our troops after them? It just doesn't sit right with me...
This Operation Swamp Sweep thing just doesn't sit right with me ... I get that everyone wants to keep their country safe, but deploying National Guard troops to a city like New Orleans? It's gotta be more than just about border enforcement, you know? I've lived in cities where the minority communities feel like they're being targeted all the time, and it's really scary. Can't we find a way to address these immigration issues without putting innocent people in harm's way? What's gonna happen when these troops start showing up at community centers and churches? I just wish there was more dialogue and less drama around this whole thing... can't we all just try to find some common ground here?
this feels like another step towards dividing ppl by politics meanwhile ppl in new orleans are worried about their city becoming a militarized zone with no clear rules on who gets stopped & questioned by national guard... it's not just about border enforcement, it's about how we treat our own communities
OMG, what is going on here?! Deploying National Guard troops to New Orleans just to crack down on undocumented immigrants? That's like putting a bouncer at a music festival to control who gets in! Newsflash: nobody wants a bunch of military police patrolling their city streets. This is gonna cause more problems than it solves and I'm not buying the "broadening law enforcement capabilities" excuse either. It feels like they're just making stuff up as they go along. What's next? Sending the FBI to give out speeding tickets in Brooklyn?! And what about the people who live there, their businesses, their lives? This is all just a big mess and I hope someone puts a stop to it ASAP!
