Trump says Zelensky ‘isn’t ready’ to approve US peace plan to end Russia-Ukraine war

US President Donald Trump has claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not ready to approve a US-authored peace proposal aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump made this statement after three days of talks between US and Ukrainian negotiators failed to reach an agreement on the proposal.

According to Trump, the issue is that Zelensky's people love the proposed plan but their leader himself has not read it or expressed his readiness to sign off on it. The president believes that Russia is fine with the plan, but he is uncertain about Ukraine's stance due to Zelensky's hesitation.

However, in a surprising development, Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated that some aspects of Trump's proposal are unworkable. Putin did not publicly express approval for the US peace plan.

The talks between US and Ukrainian officials have been ongoing since Saturday, with Zelensky stating that Ukraine is committed to working in good faith to achieve peace. The White House has released a new national security strategy document that outlines its core foreign policy interests and seeks to improve relations with Russia.

The US administration hopes that the document will lead to further constructive cooperation with Moscow on the Ukrainian settlement. Speaking at the Reagan National Defense Forum, Trump's outgoing Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg said that efforts to end the war are in "the last 10 meters," emphasizing that a deal depends on resolving two key issues: terrain and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has led to significant human suffering, with civilians struggling to access basic necessities like heat, light, and running water due to what Ukrainian officials call "weaponising" the cold. The US and its Western allies have condemned these tactics as unacceptable.

so trump is saying zelensky's not on board with his peace plan 🤔 but i think he's missing the point here... yeah, maybe zelensky hasn't read it or anything, but that doesn't mean he's not committed to working towards a solution 🙏. and what's up with russia being all secretive about their approval for the plan? 🤷‍♂️ if they're not on board then why are they holding us hostage in this conflict?

and don't even get me started on those talking points about ukraine needing to resolve two key issues... terrain and the zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant 💡. i mean, come on, can't we see that's just a smokescreen for them trying to keep us from making any real headway in this war? 🚫

and have you guys seen those pics of ukrainians struggling to access basic necessities like heat and light? it's heartbreaking ❤️. we need to be focusing on finding ways to get aid to these people, not getting bogged down in endless negotiations that are never going to lead anywhere 😩.

🤔 I don't get why Zelensky can't just read the plan 😒. If Russia's okay with it, that's good enough for Ukraine, right? 🤷‍♂️ And what's with all these "last 10 meters" 🚶‍♂️? Is that like a countdown to war or something? ⏰ Can't we just figure this out already? 😩

Here's a simple diagram to represent the situation:
```
+---------------+
| US Proposal |
| Russia (maybe) | | Ukraine (no) |
I hope this simple Venn diagram helps illustrate the situation 🤓. Can we just make peace already? ❤️
😕 this whole situation is so frustrating... i mean, we've all been rooting for a peaceful resolution to this war, but it feels like we're getting nowhere fast 💔. trump's right, though - zelensky needs to be on board with the proposal if it's gonna work 🤝. and putin being all mysterious about his approval or disapproval? no thanks 😒.
anyway... i think kellogg is trying to say that it's not just about the words we write in papers, but actually working through the tough stuff together 💪. like, those last 10 meters he mentioned? 🤯 we need concrete solutions, not just talk 🗣️. and ukraine needs access to heat, light, and running water - i mean, is this even human rights or what?! 😩
man, this is so frustrating 🤯... like, can't they just get along? I'm reading all these comments from ppl saying Trump's plan is all about gaining leverage over Russia, but it feels like Ukraine's not getting the support it needs from its own leaders 🤷‍♂️. Zelensky seems genuinely committed to peace, but then he has his team and gov't backing out on the proposal... it's like they're holding up progress. Putin just kinda says one thing, but what does that even mean? 🤔 Russia's not exactly known for its transparency. And have you seen the numbers of ppl affected by this war? It's heartbreaking 💔.
I'm thinking we're not seeing enough transparency from both sides... 🤔📊 Did you know that in 2023 alone, Ukraine reported over 100,000 civilian casualties, with a significant portion due to extreme cold? 🚨💥 That's like 1 death every 8 seconds! 💀 The world is paying attention, let's hope we can get this peace deal done ASAP. 🕰️ By the way, did you know that Russia's nuclear arsenal has around 3,500 active nuclear warheads, while Ukraine only has about 10? 🌟💣 It's a tough negotiation, but someone's gotta try...
this is getting super complicated lol... think trump is right in a way but also kinda clueless 🤷‍♂️. zelensky's gotta be read on this proposal or it's all for naught, don't get me wrong, Russia's not helping either 🤔. Putin just threw some curveballs and now trump's stuck 💥. the real question is what's in that national security strategy doc? trying to rebrand us as peace lovers? 👀
omg I just saw this news and I'm like super confused 🤔... so Trump thinks Ukraine's president isn't ready for his peace plan? that doesn't seem right to me... can someone pls explain why Zelensky wouldn't want to sign something if everyone else loves it 😒?
and btw have you guys ever tried to do a group project and one person just didn't read the plan or anything? 🤦‍♀️ it's like, how hard is that?! 🙄
anyway... back to this Russia thing... Putin saying Trump's proposal has some unworkable parts kinda makes sense, I guess 🤔. but I'm still not getting why Ukraine can't just agree on something already 🤷‍♂️
is it like, really hard to make a peace plan or is that just me 😅?
🤔 I'm a bit confused about this situation. Trump thinks Zelensky is hesitant on the peace proposal but Putin didn't seem too happy with it either, so like, what's up? 🤷‍♂️ And can we talk about how rough things are for Ukraine right now? They need help, you know? Like, access to basic stuff like heat and light... that's not okay. 😔 I wish there was a way to get everyone on the same page, but it seems like it's going to be a tough road ahead. 💯
I'm getting so frustrated with this whole situation 🤯. It's like they're all playing a game of chess without actually checking if their pawns are still standing on the board. Trump thinks Zelensky's not ready to sign off, but what does he know about Ukraine's politics? And Putin just goes and says some parts of the plan are unworkable... that's like saying "I'm outta here" before you've even laid down your bet 🤑.
What really gets me is that they're all so caught up in their own egos. Trump thinks it's about Ukraine, but I think it's really about him wanting to prove something after being kicked out of office 🤦‍♂️. And Putin? He's just trying to show the world he's still a player in the game. Meanwhile, the people who are actually getting hurt – the civilians, the soldiers on both sides – they're just sitting there waiting for someone to make up their minds 💔.
I mean, can't we all just sit down and talk like civilized humans? 🤝 It's not that hard to find some common ground. But no, it seems like everyone's too busy trying to one-up each other to care about the human cost of this war ❤️🦽.
OMG, like, I'm totally surprised that Trump thinks Zelensky isn't ready with his proposal 🤯... I mean, come on, didn't he just say Russia is fine with it? 😒 Like, doesn't Putin's team already tell him what's unworkable?! 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I'm all about the US trying to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia, but like, we can't just ignore Putin's concerns, right? 💡 Maybe Trump should've read up on it before making that statement lol. And can we pls talk about how cold has been weaponized in this conflict?! It's like, basic human rights are being ignored here 🚫.
🤔😕 This is so frustrating! 🙄 Zelensky's people love the plan, but he's holding back? 🤷‍♂️ It feels like a lack of trust between Ukraine and the West 💯. And now Putin says some parts are unworkable? 🚫 That's not helping 😒.
The US is trying so hard to bring peace to Ukraine 🌈, but it's like they're stuck in neutral 🌀. The talks have been going on for days, but no progress? ⏱️ It's heartbreaking for the civilians affected by this war 💔.
I wish Zelensky and Putin could just sit down and talk 🤝, instead of all these back-and-forths 🔄. And what about the national security strategy doc? 📜 Is that supposed to make things easier or more complicated? 🤷‍♀️
I feel so sorry for the people affected by this war 😔. It's not just about politics, it's about human lives. I think we should focus on helping those in need instead of debating plans. Putin saying that some aspects of Trump's proposal are unworkable isn't a surprise, considering Russia's actions in Ukraine have been pretty aggressive 🤖. The US needs to be realistic about its expectations and work with Russia if they're willing to compromise. But at the same time, we can't let Ukrainian leaders off easy if they don't want to approve the plan. It's all so complicated... 🤯. I just wish world leaders could put aside their differences and focus on finding a solution that works for everyone 🌎.
