TV tonight: the return of a sparkling Scottish comedy

Scotland's sparkling comedy makes its return to our screens tonight with Dinosaur, the tummy-tickling tale of thirtysomething autistic woman Nina, played by Ashley Storrie, who follows her passion for paleontology.

As Nina is asked to stay at an Isle of Wight dig, she finds herself torn between her dreams and a potential love interest, Lee. With the help of her sister Evie (played by Kat Ronney), Nina must decide what's truly important to her as they navigate the ups and downs of life.

On Channel 4, ultra-athlete Ross Edgley embarks on an incredible journey as he swims the entire 1,000-mile coastline of Iceland in a science project. But things take a turn for the worse when he succumbs to hypothermia, making this three-part documentary an unmissable watch.

Meanwhile, Professor Alice Roberts continues her quest to traverse every ancient empire by public transport on Channel 4. This time, she explores the Roman Empire, starting in Pompeii and delving into its engineering, art, and the role of slaves.

Later tonight, BBC One's Waiting for the Out wraps up as Dan speaks to a man who knew his father, while ITV1's The Jonathan Ross Show features Hugh Bonneville and Riz Ahmed among its guests.

Finally, on BBC Two, Reel Stories shines a light on Rick Astley's unusual career, from tea boy to hit factory, and features an exclusive look at Glastonbury 2023.

Other highlights include the premiere of Crossing on BBC Four, where Lia searches for her lost transgender niece in Istanbul, and live sport coverage of the Winter Olympics, T20 World Cup Cricket, and Premier League Football.

ugh, just watched a vid of someone swimming 1000 miles in iceland and they had to be pulled out after getting hypothermia... meanwhile, rick astley's career is kinda fascinating i guess πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ but seriously, can we talk about how many ppl have to deal with hypothermia every year? it's like, a real thing people πŸ‘Ž

I'm so over these "inspirational" documentaries that just make me roll my eyes πŸ˜’. Like, who thought it was a good idea to put Ross Edgley out in the freezing cold for 1,000 miles? Poor dude's gotta be dead by now 🀣. And don't even get me started on Professor Alice Roberts - she's like the ultimate "ladventurer" πŸš‚πŸŒ‰, always traipsing off to ancient empires without any actual expertise or preparation. Give me a break! πŸ™„

I'm so hyped for tonight's TV line-up! πŸ“Ί Dinosaur sounds like a total laugh-out-loud fest with Ashley Storrie playing Nina - I love how Channel 4 is bringing back Scotland's comedy scene. On the other hand, Ross Edgley's Icelandic swim documentary sounds super intense and a bit scary 😬. I mean, hypothermia? Not cool! But hey, it's all about the adventure and science, right?

And Professor Alice Roberts' Roman Empire public transport journey is so fascinating - who knew she'd be exploring Pompeii? πŸ€” I'm also stoked to see The Jonathan Ross Show with Hugh Bonneville and Riz Ahmed - always a good vibe! 😊

πŸ“ΊπŸ’‘ I'm so down for tonight's lineup! 🀩 Dinosaur looks hilarious πŸ˜‚, I love Ashley Storrie's stuff - she's always made me laugh in her YouTube vids. And I've been meaning to watch Ross Edgley's Iceland swim doco for ages... hope he's okay after hypothermia 😬!

Professor Alice Roberts is like a dream come true - all about ancient history and travel 🌏! Pompeii, here I come! ✈️ The Jonathan Ross Show sounds like fun too - Hugh Bonneville always cracks me up πŸ˜†. And Rick Astley? What's not to love? 🎀

I've also been curious about Crossing on BBC Four... how does Lia search for her lost niece in Istanbul? 🌍 Anyone else excited about the Winter Olympics and Premier League Football? βš½οΈπŸ…

I'm so down to see Ashley Storrie shine as Nina in that new comedy drama Dinosaur πŸ πŸ’«! A thirtysomething autistic woman navigating love, family, and paleontology sounds like a perfect combo of quirky humor and heartwarming moments. Can't wait to see how Ross Edgley copes with hypothermia while swimming the Iceland coastline - that's some crazy endurance stuff! πŸ’ͺ And I'm intrigued by Professor Alice Roberts' Roman Empire adventure, exploring ancient engineering and art on public transport πŸš‚πŸ›οΈ. It's gonna be a wild ride tonite with all these awesome shows and events πŸ“ΊπŸ˜„

aww mann πŸ€— i feel so bad for Ross Edgley πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ he's such an amazing guy and to go through that experience... i can only imagine how tough it must've been for him πŸ’” but on a more positive note, i'm super hyped for Rick Astley πŸŽ‰ his story is literally the most iconic and i love how Reel Stories is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at his tea boy days to hit factory journey πŸ“šπŸ’« ashley storrie as nina in dinosaur sounds like such an amazing role and i'm so down to watch it with my squad tonight πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ let's get cozy and laugh together πŸ’•

I'm hyped that comedy is back on TV! Dinosaur looks so funny, but I do worry about Nina's journey being romanticized for autism - we need more nuanced portrayals like this! πŸ€” Ashley Storrie's acting skills are gonna bring the laughs, but can we also talk about representation and how it affects people with autism? πŸ’ Anyway, Ross Edgley swimming Iceland sounds crazy, I'd probably hypothermia too lol. Professor Alice Roberts' travels look super cool, maybe she'll inspire me to take a bus trip across Europe next year! πŸ˜‚ Can't wait for Rick Astley's Reel Stories, who knew he was tea boy material? 🍡

Ugh, I'm literally so done with all these amazing shows being released at the same time 🀯. Like, how am I supposed to choose between Nina's hilarious misadventures in Dinosaur and Ross Edgley's epic swim around Iceland? And can we please give it up for Professor Alice Roberts already? She's like my spirit animal or something, wandering around ancient empires on public transport πŸšŒπŸ’¨. But seriously, I'm low-key excited to see what Rick Astley's story is all about... who knew the guy was a tea boy? πŸ˜‚πŸŽ‰

omg i'm so stoked to see Dinosaur back on our screens tonight!!! 🀩 Ashley Storrie is going to bring Nina to life in such a beautiful way, can't wait to watch her journey with Lee and Evie! πŸ’• also Ross Edgley's Iceland swim doc sounds like an absolute wild ride, hope he makes it out alive πŸ˜‚πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ meanwhile Professor Alice Roberts is just the coolest, I love how she explores ancient empires on public transport, so inspiring πŸš‚πŸ’«

I'm so excited to see Ashley Storrie taking on this role as Nina 🀩! I love how Dinosaur tackles autism with such sensitivity and humor. It's essential we have more shows like this that showcase neurodiverse characters in a positive light πŸ’–. And can we talk about Ross Edgley's Iceland swim doco? 1000 miles of swimming sounds like a crazy adventure πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ...I hope he was prepped for hypothermia and had an amazing team behind him! πŸ’ͺ

I'm so glad to see more autism representation on TV! Dinosaur looks like such a heartwarming show 🌟 Ashley Storrie is talented, can't wait to watch it with my own kiddo who's all about dinosaurs too πŸ¦–. And I love that Channel 4 has Ross Edgley doing this crazy Iceland swim doco - hypothermia is no joke! 😬

I don't know about this new show Dinosaur, but I'm a bit skeptical about the whole "autistic" thing being portrayed as some kind of superpower πŸ€”. I mean, autism is just something people have, you know? It's not like it's going to make someone more interesting or relatable just because they're autistic. And what's with all the emphasis on Nina finding her passion for paleontology? Is that really what's important here? Can't we just watch a show about someone who likes dinosaurs without making it all about their "struggle"? πŸ¦–

🀩 I'm so down for tonight's comedy night πŸ“Ί! Dinosaur looks like it's gonna be hilarious πŸ˜‚ and Ashley Storrie is a talented actress πŸ‘. Plus, Ross Edgley swimming 1000 miles in Iceland is insane 🌊😲! The doco on Professor Alice Roberts traveling ancient empires by public transport sounds fascinating πŸš‚πŸ―. And Rick Astley's story is so extra 🀣... who knew he used to be a tea boy? πŸ˜†

🌟 OMG, I'm so excited to see some awesome shows tonight! πŸ“Ί Dinosaur sounds like such a cool show, can't wait to watch Ashley Storrie as Nina πŸ€©πŸ¦– And Ross Edgley's Iceland swim documentary looks super intense β„οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ Alice Roberts' Roman Empire adventure on public transport is also a must-watch for me πŸš‚πŸ’Ό

I love how Reel Stories is highlighting Rick Astley's unique career, who knew he was a tea boy?! πŸ˜‚ And the Jonathan Ross Show with Hugh Bonneville and Riz Ahmed sounds like so much fun πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜„

Ugh, I'm so done with these feel-good TV shows right now πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ! Don't get me wrong, I love a good laugh from Dinosaur's comedy vibes πŸ’€, but can we please talk about how the protagonist Nina is literally struggling to make ends meet? Like, her passion for paleontology isn't even enough to keep her afloat financially?! πŸ€‘ It's not all rainbows and unicorns out there, you know? And don't even get me started on Ross Edgley's sciency project – who cares about swimming 1,000 miles in Iceland when there are so many pressing issues in the world that need attention? πŸ˜’ Not to mention the lack of representation for autistic individuals in media 🀝. Can we please have more nuanced portrayals of complex issues like autism and mental health?! I swear, sometimes I just wanna scream at the TV and be like, "Can't they see this is a bigger problem than just a funny show about dinosaurs?!" 😩

I'm so stoked to see more autism representation on TV πŸ™Œ! Dinosaur looks like such a heartwarming show, tackling real issues with humor and love πŸ’•. I hope it gets people talking about acceptance and support for autistic folks πŸ‘₯. That Ross Edgley documentary though? Mind-blowing 🀯, how can you even attempt to swim 1k miles in icy waters?! 😱 And Alice Roberts' travel adventures always bring history to life 🌍️. Last night's shows had a great mix of comedy, drama, and just chill vibes 😎... now I'm excited for the rest of the lineup!

OMG u guyz!!! 🀯 just watched this ep of Dinosaur on Channel 4 & I'm OBSESSED!!! πŸ’– Ashley Storrie is like the queen of autistic rep in media & I love how they're tackling real issues like neurodiversity, mental health, and identity. And Kat Ronney's sister Evie is so adorbs πŸ€— can't wait to see what happens next! 😁
