Two suspects arrested in late-night shooting near East Bay elementary school

Two Minors Arrested in Stolen Car Shooting Near Elementary School

Police have taken two minors into custody after a high-speed car chase that ended with the suspects firing shots at an innocent man outside his car. The incident occurred early Monday morning near Iron Horse Elementary School in Oakley, California.

According to authorities, the two suspects were arrested for attempted homicide and other serious charges following a frantic pursuit by police. The men, who are under 18 years old, were allegedly involved in a kidnapping and carjacking that began when they became angry with three people in another vehicle who refused to buy marijuana for them at Cypress Grove Park.

The suspects held the two female victims and one minor girl hostage at gunpoint before forcing them to drive. They eventually spotted their would-be pursuer, a young man who had been following them on foot, and fired shots through his car's windshield. The victim suffered a graze wound to the head and was treated for injuries.

As police closed in on the suspects' vehicle, they led authorities on a wild goose chase across Contra Costa County, including parts of Orinda, where they were eventually apprehended after their car became disabled on Highway 24. Both minors are now being held at juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted homicide and other serious charges.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but police say it appears to be linked to a dispute over marijuana purchases. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by violent crime and the importance of law enforcement working to prevent such incidents before they escalate into full-blown tragedies.

🚨😬 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this crazy story... like, what's wrong with these kids?! 🀯 They're not even out of high school yet and already resorting to violent crime. It's just heartbreaking that a innocent guy had to get grazed by a bullet because of their stupidity πŸ’”. And can we talk about how reckless it is for them to be driving around with guns in the first place?! 😱 I mean, what were they thinking?! The fact that they led cops on a wild goose chase across Contra Costa County just shows how out of control they must have been πŸš—πŸ’¨. Anyway, glad no one was seriously hurt, but still... πŸ˜•

πŸ˜±πŸš—πŸ’₯ This is so sad πŸ€•, especially near an elementary school 🏫! Two young minds lost their freedom already πŸ’”, and a innocent person got grazed by a bullet 🎯... it's just not right 😒. The kids involved were just trying to score some weed at the park 🌿, but things went totally outta hand πŸ”₯. We need better support systems for our youth 🀝, like mental health services and job training programs πŸ’Ό. And what about their families? 🀝 How will they cope with this news 😩? This incident is a harsh reminder of the consequences of violence 🚫... can't we all just get along πŸ€—?!

😱 what's wrong with these kids? 1 second they're chillin' in a park, 1 minute they're straight up violent and tryna hurt someone... it's like, basic math - if you wanna buy weed from someone, just pay 'em! πŸ€‘ can't believe they took it out on some innocent people. the fact that there was an elementary school nearby is just crazy... what if one of those kids had gotten shot? 🀯 the police did a good job chasin' them down tho πŸ’ͺ

😩 what's going on with these kids? Two minors, barely out of their teens, already thinking it's okay to shoot at innocent people just 'cause someone didn't sell them weed 🀯 like, I get that the system can be tough, but this is just crazy. And a school zone too! Iron Horse Elementary School right next door, can you even imagine what the parents are going through? 😭 Their little kids must've been so scared during all that chaos. And it's not just the shooting – the whole kidnapping thing, the carjacking... it's like they think they're above the law or something πŸ™„ Anyway, I hope these two get some serious help and guidance, 'cause they're definitely in over their heads right now 🀝

It's just so sad that this is happening near an elementary school πŸ€•. I'm glad the police were able to catch these two kids, but it's really concerning that they had access to a vehicle and thought they could use it to harm someone else πŸš—πŸ˜¬. It makes me wonder what's going on in their lives that would lead them down such a dark path πŸ€”. The fact that it was over a dispute about marijuana purchases is just crazy - can't we all just get along? πŸ˜‚ I'm not sure if more support or education is needed for these kids, but something needs to change ASAP ❀️

🚨😬 I'm so shaken after hearing about this incident. These two minors, who are still just kids, are facing serious charges for their reckless actions. It's heartbreaking that a dispute over marijuana could lead to someone getting shot in the head! πŸ€• The fact that they were driving around with hostages and led police on a wild chase is just unbelievable. What were they thinking?! πŸ˜’ And what about the victims who got caught up in this mess? They're the real victims here, not the ones who pulled the triggers.

We need to think about how we can prevent these types of incidents from happening in the first place. Is it due to lack of education, resources, or something else entirely? We should be supporting our youth and providing them with alternative ways to cope with stress and frustration, rather than turning to violence. πŸ’‘ It's time for us as a society to come together and find solutions to these problems before more lives are lost πŸ™

πŸ€• This is just heartbreaking - two minors involved in this kind of reckless behavior are going to have a lifetime of consequences, and innocent lives were put at risk πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, think about it, those three people just didn't want to buy marijuana from them? That's not worth putting themselves or others in harm's way over πŸ’”. And what's with the juvenile hall - isn't that just perpetuating a cycle of violence and crime? Shouldn't we be focusing on rehabilitation and help rather than punishment? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, it's another reminder that we need to be vigilant and support our law enforcement in keeping us safe πŸ’ͺ.

ugh this is so crazy 🀯 what's wrong with these kids?? one minute they're chillin' at the park and the next thing you know they're kidnapping people and firing shots at innocent lives 😑 i'm really glad the cops were able to catch them tho, but can't we just take a step back and think about why this is even happening in the first place? is it lack of resources or something deeper? πŸ€” anyway, hope the kid who got grazed on the head is okay πŸ’•

πŸ˜’ I mean, come on forum users! Can't you do better than just regurgitating news headlines without any context or discussion? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I'm so tired of seeing articles like this posted and people just clicking away without even thinking about what it means for our community. πŸ’” It's not all about sensationalized headlines, guys! There are actual lives at stake here. And can we please talk about how these kids were able to get their hands on guns in the first place? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I'm not saying that's anyone else's problem, but it's definitely a discussion worth having. Can't we strive for more than just clickbait posts and angry comments? πŸ€”

πŸ€” This whole situation is just crazy... I mean, I get that the two minors were allegedly involved in some shady stuff, but shooting at an innocent guy outside his car? That's just not right 🚫. And to think they were holding those two girls hostage and forcing them to drive... it's just heartbreaking πŸ˜”.

I'm all for law enforcement trying to prevent violent crime, but it feels like we're always reacting after the fact instead of proactively addressing the root causes of this stuff πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, what were these kids thinking? Did they really think that robbing and kidnapping someone was just going to lead to a good outcome? πŸ™„

And now we've got two minors in juvenile hall facing serious charges... it's just so sad πŸ˜•. We need to do better as a community to support our youth and provide them with the resources they need to make positive choices πŸ‘Š.

ugh, can't believe this is happening in our neighborhoods πŸ€•. two minors running around with guns, almost kills someone... what's wrong with these kids? shouldn't they be worried about getting good grades instead of chasing that weed money? πŸ€‘ and now they're sitting in juvenile hall, but it's too little, too late πŸ’”. this is exactly why we need better mental health support for kids, not just a slap on the wrist. and what about the victims who were just minding their own biz? shouldn't we be focusing on keeping our communities safe, not just throwing more people in jail πŸš”.

Ugh, my heart is still racing just thinking about this 😱. I mean, can you even imagine being just minding your own biz outside your car and suddenly having bullets flying towards you? It's just so senseless... and the fact that these kids are under 18 and thought it was a good idea to play with guns like they're toys is just crazy 🀯. And what really gets me is that this is all over a disputed marijuana purchase πŸ˜’. Like, come on guys, can't you just talk it out instead of resorting to violence? Anyway, I hope the victims are okay and that justice is served πŸ’ͺ. This is just another reminder of how much we need to support our law enforcement and keep these communities safe πŸ™.

πŸ€• my heart is literally shattered thinking about what happened outside Iron Horse Elementary School on Monday morning. two minors, barely out of childhood, are facing serious charges for their reckless behavior. it's just so sad that a dispute over marijuana purchases escalated into a life-threatening situation for an innocent man. 🚨 can we talk about how we're failing our young people to teach them the value of empathy and respect? should we be having more conversations about mental health, stress management, and positive relationships? 🀝

πŸ€• OMG u guys this is so crazy what's goin on in california rn?? two minors arrested for shootin at someone outside an elementary school 🀯 can't believe that's even a thing how r we gonna fix this cycle of violence?? seems like they were just lookin for trouble after bein all upset about marijuana purchases πŸ˜’ anyway, glad no one was seriously hurt but still shaken up by the whole thing πŸ’” what do u think is goin on in their heads?? did they not think about the consequences of their actions? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I don’t usually comment but... I just can't believe this is happening in our neighborhoods. I mean, think about it - two minors, barely even out of high school, and they're already involved in something like this. It's like they lost all sense of what's right and wrong. And now someone's innocent life was put at risk because of a dispute over some weed? It's just crazy. The police are doing their job, but it's times like these that make you wonder how we ended up with such a messed-up system.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🀯... Two minors, under 18, going crazy with a car chase and shooting at an innocent person outside his car? It's just too much 😱. I was driving by Iron Horse Elementary School yesterday morning and it was chaotic, people were running around and screaming... I'm just glad no one got seriously hurt πŸ’₯.

I feel so bad for the victim who got grazed on the head πŸ€•, that could've been a lot worse. And what's with this whole marijuana thing? It seems like these kids are going to school in a different world 🌎. I remember when I was a kid, we didn't even think about getting caught with weed at school... now it's just a normal part of life for some folks πŸ˜’.

Anyway, I do hope the justice system does its thing and keeps these minors off the streets for a while 🚫. We need more people like the cops who are working hard to keep our communities safe πŸ’ͺ.

omg what's wrong with these kids??! they're gonna end up in juvenile hall for attempted homicide? that's crazy!! i was just walking outta school yesterday and i'm thinking about how safe it is to walk down the street alone... now i'm like 'what if something happens to me?' 😱 anyway, i feel bad for that guy who got grazed by a bullet... can't believe these kids thought they were invincible πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. maybe law enforcement should do more to prevent situations like this from happening in the first place? or is it too late for that now? πŸ€”

man this is just sad πŸ€• the fact that two minors, one under 18, are capable of such evil thoughts and actions is really disturbing 😱 it's like they lost control and let their emotions take over. and think about how scared that innocent guy must have been, having shots fired at his car while he was just driving to school πŸš—πŸ˜¨ anyway, I guess this just goes to show us how serious the issue of juvenile crime is we need more support and help for kids who are going through tough times, so they don't end up making decisions like this πŸ’”

🚨 Honestly, I think 2 is way too lenient when it comes to minors committing crimes that put innocent lives at risk πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. These kids were already dealing with way too much drama over a bag of weed, and now they got to live it out in real life πŸ’€? That's just too much for anyone, especially kids under 18 who shouldn't have the maturity to handle that kind of situation. The justice system needs to rethink how it handles juvenile crime, because sometimes you gotta make tough decisions that aren't just about rehabilitating a kid but also keeping others safe πŸš«πŸ’”
