Two Sydney hospital employees critical after car mounts footpath and strikes them outside entrance – as it happened

Two hospital employees were seriously injured yesterday when a 59-year-old woman drove her car over the footpath outside Concord Hospital in Sydney. The injured pair, a 24-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man who both work at the hospital, are currently receiving treatment in critical condition.

The incident occurred this morning when the driver lost control of her vehicle, which struck the two pedestrians. NSW police have established a crime scene outside the hospital and are investigating the cause of the accident.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but police have confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage.

This latest incident highlights the risks faced by hospital staff who often work on footpaths or in high-traffic areas. It has raised concerns about road safety and the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure in Sydney's hospitals.

The incident has also sparked calls for better lighting and signage outside hospitals to reduce the risk of accidents.

The victims' injuries are described as serious, but their condition is currently being treated as stable.

No further details have been released at this stage.

🤕😱 I'm literally shaken by this news... how can someone just lose control of a car and hit two people who were walking on the footpath? It's like it was just one mistake, but it had such devastating consequences for those two hospital employees.

I think we need to rethink our priorities when it comes to road safety in Sydney. I mean, don't get me wrong, hospitals are supposed to be safe places, not busy roads! We need better lighting and signage outside these places, so people can navigate them without worrying about getting hit by a car.

It's also making me think about the risks that hospital staff face every day... they're already on their feet all day, dealing with sick patients and families who are stressed... do we really need to add road safety concerns to the list too? 🤔

I'm really worried about this incident... like what's going on with our city's roads, you know? I mean, hospitals are supposed to be safe spaces for people to heal, not areas where they're gonna get knocked down by a car 🚗😨. And it's not just the footpaths, it's the whole infrastructure around these places that needs a revamp. We need better lighting, clearer signage... it's just basic common sense 🤷‍♀️. And what's with all these accidents? It feels like we're constantly hearing about someone getting hit by a car or being involved in some kind of road rage situation 🚗💥. Can't we do better than this?

🚨 what's going on here? seriously, no cameras or witnesses nearby?! a 59-yr-old woman just loses control of her car and hits two hospital staff who are literally walking outside the hospital 🤯 how did that not happen sooner with better lighting & signage?! NSW police say they're investigating but it feels like an open-and-shut case to me 🚔

🤕 I'm so shaken by this news 😩. As someone who's seen a lot of changes in their life, one thing that keeps coming back to me is how careless people can be behind the wheel 🚗. It's just so sad that these two hospital workers had to go through such a traumatic experience 💔.

I think it's great that the police are taking this seriously and investigating the cause of the accident 💡. But at the same time, I wish they could've taken action sooner when they saw her driving erratically 🙄. It just feels like a case of "close call" rather than an accident 😬.

As someone who's lived through their fair share of accidents (my grandma was in a serious car crash when I was younger), it's heartbreaking to see people being injured or worse on our roads 🚗💥. We need better infrastructure, more lighting, and signage outside hospitals – it's just common sense 💡. And maybe, just maybe, we can all learn from this incident and be more mindful of our surroundings 🙏.

omg what a terrible accident 😱😭 those hospital staff are lucky to be alive! i'm literally shaking thinking about how close they were to not making it 🤯 and now we're talking about improving pedestrian infrastructure in sydney's hospitals like seriously can't stress enough how important that is 💡 we need better lighting, signage, the whole deal 🌟 i feel so bad for the victims and their families, hope they get the best care possible ❤️

idk why ppl r already talkin about improvements 2 pedestrian infrastructure 4 concord hospital like its always gonna happen 2 someone... what if the drivers r not even payin attention? what if they got distracted by their phones or somethin'? maybe we should focus on teachin people 2 drive safe instead of makin roads safer 4 pedestrians?

My heart goes out to those two hospital employees who were seriously hurt by that car accident 🤕💔. Just thinkin' about them not bein' able to do their job and takin' care of people's health is really sad 😢. It makes me wanna make sure that everyone has a safe place to walk around, especially in places where people are workin' and need to be on the move 🚶‍♀️👩‍💼. We gotta look out for each other and make sure we're all takin' care of ourselves, ya know? 💕

Dude, I heard about this crazy accident at Concord Hospital in Sydney 🚨😱 and I'm just shaking my head. Like, can't we all just get along... with our cars and pedestrians? It's like, common sense, right? But nope, someone loses control of their vehicle and BAM! Two hospital employees are seriously hurt 🤕💉. I mean, what even is the point of having a hospital if you're just gonna risk people's lives on footpaths? And now they're talking about better lighting and signage... like, that's not gonna cut it, folks 😂. We need to step up our road safety game in Sydney or someone is gonna get hurt... badly 🤦‍♂️. On the bright side, I guess this means the hospital has some awesome new medical equipment now 💸. Silver linings, right?
