I'm so worried about what's happening in Uganda
... but at the same time, I'm trying to think of it from a different perspective. Like, President Museveni is super concerned about maintaining order and stability in the country, right? And he's been doing that for like, 39 years now
. It's understandable that he'd want to ensure things stay peaceful.
But, oh man, the internet blackout and all those allegations of police brutality
... that's just not cool. I'm thinking maybe it's time for some real, independent investigations into what went down on election day? The African Union observers did a great job pointing out these issues, though
. And Bobi Wine's party has a right to protest and express themselves - we should be supporting them in their efforts for change
.
It's all so... complicated
... but I'm hopeful that Uganda will get through this and come out stronger on the other side
. We just need to keep talking about these issues and pushing for accountability
.
