the US hosting the 2026 World Cup feels like a weird paradox
- on one hand, it's amazing to see an underdog country take center stage in the sports world, but on the other, can't we just think about the elephant in the room? I mean, have you seen the footage of the treatment of migrant children at the border?
it's like, how can we justify celebrating the beautiful game while ignoring the ugliness of systemic oppression and human rights abuses? maybe the real question is, what does it say about our own society that we're okay with a country that's so clearly flawed hosting one of the biggest international events of the year?
i guess that's just the philosopher in me wanting to unpack all the complexities
