US postal worker charged with breaking man out of ICE custody on Long Island

A Long Island postal worker has been accused of attempting to free a man from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody last month, sparking allegations of obstruction and potential ties to the unauthorized immigration activity.

Tamara Mayorga-Wong, a USPS employee on Long Island, is facing federal charges after allegedly helping an unidentified individual briefly escape from the back of an ICE agent's vehicle in Westhampton. According to court documents, both Wong and her accomplice were apprehended shortly after the break-out attempt.

Following Wong's arrest, authorities took her into custody and transported her to a Southampton police station for processing. During the drive, prosecutors claim she made incriminating statements about immigration enforcement, including references to the treatment of immigrants' families.

Mayorga-Wong is now facing a single count of obstruction of a federal proceeding in U.S. District Court's Eastern District of New York. Her arraignment is scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Central Islip. It remains unclear whether she has retained an attorney, but no information was available as of press time.

I don’t usually comment but I just can't help feeling that the whole situation with Tamara Mayorga-Wong is kinda weird πŸ€”. Like, what's going on here? Is this guy really in ICE custody and needed to be freed? And how did she know about it to begin with? It sounds like a pretty intense situation for someone who’s just trying to do their job at the post office.

And then there are these allegations of obstruction and ties to unauthorized immigration activity 🚫. I don’t think we should jump to conclusions here, but it does seem suspicious that she made incriminating statements during her arrest. It's like, what was she thinking? Did she really not think through the consequences?

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out 🀞. One thing for sure is that Tamara Mayorga-Wong's life is about to get a lot more complicated πŸ’₯.

omg what is goin on here?! 🀯 i dont think it's cool that this postal worker got accused of tryin to free some dude from ICE custody... like, whats the big deal? seems like someone needs help and we all wanna lend a hand, right? 🀝 but at the same time, i can see how it might be seen as obstruction... its all kinda complicated. i think what bothers me is that this woman was just doin her job and then got pulled into somethin she didnt sign up for... USPS employees should be able to help people in need too! πŸ“¨πŸ’•

I think Tamara Mayorga-Wong should get a break πŸ€”. Like, we gotta consider the circumstances, right? I mean, who wouldn't want to help someone in distress? 😊 It's not like she's a mastermind or anything. She's just a postal worker trying to do what's right. And from what I've heard, ICE custody can be super harsh... I feel for that guy who was being held. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Maybe Tamara was just trying to help someone in need? We shouldn't jump to conclusions and assume the worst about people. 😊

ICE and the USPS, not exactly the most complementary institutions πŸš«πŸ’Ό I think Tamara Mayorga-Wong's actions were motivated by empathy, not malice. The way she was questioned during transport is really disturbing, though πŸ€• If the US government wants to get to the bottom of immigration issues, maybe they should start with listening to people's stories instead of interrogating them on the side of the road πŸ˜”

😬 what's going on here? I mean, I get that we're living in a super polarized world and people are passionate about immigration issues, but trying to break someone out from ICE custody? That's like, a whole different level of reckless. Tamara Mayorga-Wong was just doing her job as a postal worker, what did she have to do with the man being held by ICE? It's not like they're exactly swimming in applicants for these kinds of jobs... and now she's facing federal charges? πŸ˜“

πŸ€” think about it... Tamara Mayorga-Wong's actions might've been driven by a desire to help someone in need, but that doesn't necessarily mean she did the right thing. Obstruction charges are serious because they can undermine trust in institutions and put people in danger.

It's easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and make decisions without thinking about the long-term consequences. Wong's actions might've been meant as a good deed, but now her future is at risk. It's like when we try to help someone who's struggling with their own problems – sometimes our best intentions can end up causing more harm than good.

The bigger question here is: what motivates us to take risks and challenge the status quo? Is it a genuine desire to make a difference, or are we driven by fear of missing out or seeking attention? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

πŸ€” So I'm reading this news about Tamara Mayorga-Wong, a postal worker from Long Island who's accused of helping someone escape from ICE custody... and it raises some concerns about our immigration system. 🚫 I mean, what's the point of even having laws if people are just going to break them? It's like, we can't have everyone making up their own rules as they go along.

I'm not saying she's guilty or anything, but it's definitely an interesting situation. I wonder if there's more to this story than what's being reported... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

πŸ€” so like this is a postal worker from Long Island who allegedly helped someone escape from ICE custody... I'm not sure why people would do that, but I guess some folks might think it's the right thing to do? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ the problem is now she's in hot water, facing federal charges and all that jazz... 😬 I don't know if she meant any harm or was just trying to help someone out, but you can bet her life is about to get a lot more complicated. πŸ’”

OMG, like what's going on here?! 🀯 A postal worker trying to break someone out of ICE custody? That's some crazy stuff! I'm all for supporting the community and helping those in need, but this is a whole different level. What if that person was in the country illegally? Is she putting her own freedom at risk just to help someone else? πŸ€” And what about the families of immigrants who are already going through so much stress and uncertainty? Does she really think her actions will make things better or more complicated? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ The prosecution's allegations about her making incriminating statements during transport sound super suspicious too. I need to know more about this before I form an opinion... πŸ’‘

omg what's goin on with this postal worker lady? like i thought being a mailman was all good vibes, but it sounds like she got herself into some serious trouble πŸ“¨πŸ˜¬ i feel bad for her fam tho, if she did make incriminating statements about the treatment of immigrant families... that's some heavy stuff. i wonder what prompted her to try and free someone from ICE custody? maybe there's more to this story than meets the eye πŸ” anyway, only time will tell how it all plays out πŸ•°οΈ

ICE and USPS workers doin' the same job, protectin' our country πŸ™... or so it seems. I'm not here to judge Tamara Mayorga-Wong's actions, but we gotta ask ourselves, what motivates someone to put themselves in harm's way for a stranger? Was she just tryin' to do some good or was there somethin' more goin' on? Maybe she saw the desperation in that man's eyes and wanted to help. Or maybe it was just a misguided attempt to stick it to the man, like they say πŸ˜’.

The thing is, when we're faced with a situation where we can either do right or wrong, we gotta choose wisely. We all got our own moral compasses, but sometimes they need a little nudge πŸ€”. The fact that Tamara made incriminating statements about immigration enforcement might just be her way of tryin' to protect herself from the system, not necessarily others. So let's not jump to conclusions and give her the benefit of the doubt πŸ‘. We can all learn from this situation by reflectin' on our own values and motivations πŸ’.

πŸ€” This whole thing just feels so messed up πŸ€• I mean, we're already talking about people being detained by ICE, and then you've got a USPS worker trying to help someone escape? It's like, what even is going on here? 🀯 And the part where she supposedly made incriminating statements about immigration enforcement during transport? That just feels like a huge red flag πŸ”₯ I'm not saying Tamara Mayorga-Wong did anything wrong, but this whole situation just reeks of some major drama πŸ’” Like, what's going on with our justice system right now? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Can't we all just coexist peacefully? 🌎 It's like they say in that movie 'Mr. Robot', "You're not a hacker, you're an architect"... I feel like Tamara might be trying to build some kind of change here πŸ”„

πŸ€” this is super crazy, i dont know what to think about tamara mayorga-wong...i mean, she's a usps worker who helps get someone out of ice custody? that's wild, especially considering the alleged statements about immigration enforcement...it feels like she might be caught up in something much bigger than herself 🀝

Ugh, I'm so old-school πŸ™„. Remember when postal workers weren't expected to be law enforcement? Tamara Mayorga-Wong's situation just sounds like a mess, you know? She's been accused of trying to break up ICE custody, which is super concerning. But the fact that she made incriminating statements about immigration during the arrest... it's like, what was going on in her head, right? πŸ˜•

I'm all for standing up for what you believe in, but this whole thing just smells fishy 🐟. I mean, wouldn't it've been better if she just stayed quiet and not said anything about immigration enforcement? Now she's got a federal charge against her and her life is probably turned upside down πŸ’”.

It's crazy how the lines get blurred between personal conviction and putting yourself in harm's way. Mayorga-Wong might have been trying to do the right thing, but did it really have to go this far? πŸ€”

I THOUGHT IT WAS CRAZY WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THIS USPS WORKER GETTING CHARGED FOR HELPING SOMEONE ESCAPE FROM ICE CUSTODY!!! IT'S LIKE, OKAY, WE ALL KNOW THAT IMMIGRANT RIGHTS CAN BE A SENSITIVE TOPIC, BUT LETS JUST SAY THAT IF SHE DID DO WHAT THEY'RE ALLEGING, IT WOULD BE SUPER TROUBLESOME FOR HER AND HER FAMILIES 🀯. I MEAN, I GET WHERE SHE'S COMING FROM, WE ALL WANT TO HELP OUT THOSE IN NEED, BUT OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE ISN'T THE WAY TO DO IT, YOU KNOW?
