Victorian Holiday House returns to Grundy Museum with a festive 'Toys & Tinsel' theme

Bristol Borough's Coziest Holiday Tradition Returns with a Touch of Vintage Charm

The Grundy Museum is gearing up to reopen its beloved Victorian Holiday House for the 19th time, this year with an inviting 'Toys & Tinsel' theme that promises to transport visitors back in time. As the doors open on November 21, families and friends can indulge in a festive walk-through experience, replete with seven Christmas trees and intricately curated room displays that evoke the elegance and sentiment of the Victorian era.

Each space within the 19th-century riverside home has been thoughtfully designed to showcase its own unique take on the holiday season. As visitors meander through the beautifully decorated rooms, they'll feel as though they're stepping into a vintage postcard from days gone by – a true delight for those seeking an old-fashioned holiday treat.

A particular highlight of this year's event is the exquisite exhibit of antique toys, carefully curated by Philadelphia collector Troy Chinnici-Bianchi. The display features hand-carved rocking horses, miniature carousels, early teddy bears, and other wooden playthings that bring to life the artistry and whimsy of childhood from over a century ago. Many items in the collection are on public view for the first time, offering a rare glimpse into the world of Victorian playtime.

For those looking for an immersive holiday experience, the museum is hosting an Opening Night celebration on November 21 at 6 p.m., complete with live violin music by Claudia Pellegrini and light refreshments in the South Lawn Garden. Tickets are $50, while a more relaxed visit can be enjoyed with a $5 walk-through tour from November 22 through December 20.

New this year, the Grundy Museum has teamed up with Itri Wood Fired Pizza and The King George Inn to offer 'Date Night in Winter,' a special dining promotion that pairs a museum visit with exclusive discounts at participating Bristol Borough restaurants. Whether you're looking for a cozy family outing or a romantic evening out, the Victorian Holiday House promises to deliver an unforgettable holiday experience.
