Victorian Labor forced to rely on One Nation and others to pass voluntary assisted dying bill after factional split

I'm not buying all this fuss about VAD. It sounds like just another way to fix what's broken, but I guess that's how politics works 🤔. To be honest, I think it's pretty rich that some Labor MPs are worried about vulnerable individuals, but not when it comes to their own party members' interests. Like, if they're so concerned, why not offer more support? It just feels like a Band-Aid solution to me 💸.

And what's with all the "assisted suicide" talk? Can't we just have an open and honest conversation about end-of-life care instead of throwing around loaded terms that spark fear and anxiety? It's time for some real dialogue, not just party politics 🗣️.

I'm not sure if I'm for or against this VAD bill yet 🤔... on one hand, it's great that more people are having conversations about end-of-life care and being able to make choices about their own bodies 💡. But at the same time, I worry about how it'll affect vulnerable folks who might not be in the best headspace when making those decisions 😬. And what if some doctors start pushing VAD just because they're feeling pressured? 🙅‍♂️

I think the party's trying to do a good thing, but they need to get their act together and make sure everyone's on board before it even gets to the Legislative Council 📚. Can't have them relying on 4 votes from Liberal MPs who are basically in bed with them... that just doesn't sit right 😒.

Still, I guess it's a start, and if they can get some of these concerns ironed out, maybe VAD could be a good thing 🤞. But we need to see more transparency and support for the vulnerable people before we can say yay 🙌.

I don’t usually comment but it’s crazy how these politicians are all for end-of-life care one minute and suddenly it’s about "assisted suicide" when it suits them 🤷‍♂️. I mean, what even is the difference? It’s still about giving people control over their own lives in their final days, right? And 12 months is a pretty generous timeline for someone to be struggling with an illness – it feels like there should be more support than just "let's just talk it out and see what happens" 💬.

And can we talk about how the health minister is basically using emotional manipulation to scare people off the bill? That phrase "assisted suicide"... it’s so loaded, but honestly who hasn’t had a family member or friend struggle with their own mortality? It feels like they're more worried about being seen as the "anti-people's champ" than actually doing what's best for Australia 🤦‍♂️.

I guess only time will tell if this bill actually gets passed, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the politicians on both sides of the aisle can put aside their differences and do the right thing 💕.

idk why ppl r so divided on this VAD thing 🤷‍♀️, it's all about givein people options when they're facin death 😔. some ppl say it's like "suicide" but that's just a different word ain't it? 💁‍♀️ we need to have more open conversations about end-of-life care 'cause everyone's got their own thoughts on the matter 💭. what i do know is that it's time to move forward from all these biases & prejudices 👊. let's get real, if it's not VAD then wot r we gonna do? 🤯
