NASA Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Texas Without Landing Gear, Videos Show.

A NASA research aircraft experienced a mechanical failure and was forced to make an emergency landing without its landing gear on Tuesday at Ellington Airport, southeast of Houston. The incident left onlookers stunned as the plane slid across the runway with flames shooting from beneath it, sending massive plumes of smoke into the air.

According to NASA officials, both crew members are safe, but a full investigation into the cause of the malfunction is underway. The aircraft, known as the WB-57, has been in service since the 1970s and has flown numerous research missions over the years.

A video posted on social media captured the dramatic moment, showing the plane's wheels lifting off the ground just before impact, with flames bursting from its belly as it careened down the runway. The aircraft eventually came to a stop, its engines sputtering, but still emitting smoke and fire.

Local news footage shows emergency responders rushing to the scene, while nearby residents are seen watching in horror as fire trucks arrived on the scene. Despite the incident, NASA officials assured that both crew members were unharmed and were treated for any potential injuries.

The cause of the malfunction is currently under investigation by NASA and other relevant authorities, but it's unclear at this time what may have led to the failure of the aircraft's landing gear system.

OMG 🀯 just saw that NASA plane made an emergency landing in Texas without its landing gear!!! 😱 I'm literally shaking right now... like, how do you even fly a plane without wheels?! πŸ€” The videos are insane, flames shooting from underneath and smoke everywhere... it's like something out of a sci-fi movie! πŸš€ I hope the crew is okay tho, that would be a major bummer if they got hurt. πŸ’” NASA needs to figure out what went wrong ASAP so this doesn't happen again... safety first, right? 😬

I mean, can you even imagine if that had happened on a regular commercial flight? I'm pretty sure panic would've set in right away. But since it was just a NASA plane and everyone involved is safe... that's definitely a relief for me too πŸ™.

From what I've seen in the videos, it looked like some sort of catastrophic failure, but I guess that's all part of being a research aircraft - it's gotta withstand some pretty rough conditions. Still, I'm curious to know what could've caused the landing gear to fail so catastrophically. Was it something with the design? A manufacturing error? I'd love to see more details on the investigation and maybe even get an update on what they find out πŸ€”.

I also have to wonder how NASA trains their pilots for situations like this. Do they practice emergency landings without gear in some sort of simulator or simulation? It's not something you think about until it happens, but I guess it's reassuring that both crew members are okay and getting the help they need πŸ’ͺ

πŸš€πŸ˜¬ Oh man, that's crazy! A plane just landing itself on the runway without any wheels? That's some serious tech gone wrong πŸ’»! I mean, we're used to hearing about AI making mistakes in movies and TV shows, but this is real life 🀯. And those flames shooting out from under the plane? 😱 That's not something you see every day.

I'm glad the crew members are safe, though πŸ™. But seriously, what was going on with that landing gear system? Was it a software issue, hardware failure, or just plain old luck that it didn't happen sooner? πŸ€” NASA's gotta dig deep to figure this one out.

This incident is definitely making me appreciate the genius of SpaceX and their reusable rockets πŸš€. I mean, we're talking about planes that can land themselves on a runway, no problem! But at the same time, it's sobering to think about how much complexity and risk are involved in even the most advanced tech.

Anyway, let's just hope NASA gets to the bottom of this and makes sure something like this never happens again 🀞. And if you're wondering what happened next, I'm keeping an eye on the news! 😁

I'm literally shaking my head right now... I mean, can you even imagine being on that plane? 😱 The WB-57 has been around for ages, and you're still flying it without some serious upgrades or safety protocols in place? 🀯 And to think those two crew members are just lucky to be alive... it's a miracle they escaped with no major injuries. I'm all for preserving history and legacy, but shouldn't that take precedence over putting lives at risk? 🚨 The fact that the landing gear failed is just so baffling - how did that even happen?! πŸ” And now we're left wondering what could've caused it... was it a manufacturing defect, human error, or something entirely different? πŸ€” It's going to be super interesting to see what the investigation turns up.

omg, can you even imagine flying on a plane without landing gear? like, what if it was your first time or something 😱. i mean, i'm glad both crew members are safe tho, that's priority number one. but seriously, how does this happen? and what about the fire? πŸš’πŸ’¨ did they have any fire extinguishers on board? anyway, i guess this is a good thing it happened at an airport with trained responders, so everyone got evacuated safely πŸ‘. now let's just hope the investigation finds out what went wrong and makes sure something like this never happens again 😊

πŸ€” I'm not surprised NASA has a plane that still uses the '70s tech lol. They're trying to save costs and it shows in this situation. It's crazy they even made it on the runway without the landing gear, I guess all those years of practice must've paid off. Still, hope both pilots are okay! πŸ™ The video was pretty intense though, whoa... Smoke and flames everywhere... not a great look for NASA, but like, accidents happen right? Let's just hope they figure out what went down and fix it ASAP so we don't see anything like this again 🚧

OMG 🀯 like can u even believe dis?! NASA plane just had a major malfunction and landed without its landing gear on πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and there was flames coming out from underneath it!!! I mean, I know it's not uncommon for planes to have issues but this is crazy 😲. I'm glad the crew members are safe tho πŸ’• they must be so shaken up right now. And can we talk about how fast that plane slid across the runway? Like what even is that?! 🀯 I need more info on this ASAP! πŸ” NASA needs to get to the bottom of this and figure out what went wrong. My heart is racing just thinking about it πŸ’–

Man, this NASA plane thingy is so wild 🀯! I mean, just imagine if that happened right in front of you? 😱 It's crazy that the pilots were able to make it safely on the ground without their gears or anything... like they're doing some kinda insane flying stunt πŸŽͺ. And those flames shooting up from underneath the plane?! πŸ”₯ Whoa! I'm glad no one got hurt, but still... what could've caused this? Was it just a freak accident or was there something more to it? πŸ€” The investigation is gonna be super interesting to watch, imo 😁

Wow 😲, can you imagine being in that plane? I mean, having those wheels just lift off the ground like they did, it's crazy! Interesting how much tech has come a long way since the 70s when that thing was first built 🀯. Glad to hear both crew members are safe though, that's what matters most πŸ’•.

🚨 I think its a good thing they made that emergency landing without the gear, could've been way worse if they tried to make it on 4 wheels 😬. And honestly, a plane with tech from the 70s is already kinda old news, maybe its time for NASA to upgrade their fleet πŸ€–? Still, crazy how much smoke and fire came outta that thing, hope those crew members are gonna be alright... πŸ‘€

🀯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one... like, how does a plane just take off without its landing gear? That's just crazy talk! And flames shooting out from underneath it? Not good at all πŸš’πŸ˜¬. I mean, I know these old planes are supposed to be reliable and all that, but still... two people are lucky to be safe.

I'm kinda curious about the investigation now though. What could have caused that malfunction? Was it just a one-off or is there something more serious going on with this plane's design? πŸ€” Not sure what's gonna come out of this but hopefully everything gets figured out soon πŸ‘.

🀯 I mean, can you even imagine something like that happening? 😲 But here's the thing, folks! The crew is safe, which is literally the most important thing. Like, we're all so used to hearing about plane crashes and disasters, but in this case, it's like a miracle they made it out unscathed. And yeah, the WB-57 has been around since the 70s, so maybe some parts were due for an upgrade anyway? πŸ€” Still, I'm a little worried about the cause of the malfunction... what if we can learn something from this to prevent similar incidents in the future? πŸš€ Maybe it's time to invest in some new tech and safety features for our aircraft. Either way, I'm just glad everyone is okay! πŸ’•

omg u gotta be kiddin me! a plane crash without landin gear? that's like somethin outta a bad action movie 🀯 how did they not see this comin?! i mean, i know they're flyin old planes and all but c'mon nasa! shouldn't they have gotten to the bottom of this before sendin it out on the runway? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and what's with the flames shootin out from under it like a hot mess express πŸ”₯ anyway, glad no1 was hurt i guess πŸ™ but still can't believe this happened

Wow, this is like something out of a bad sci-fi movie πŸš€πŸ˜±. I mean, can you even imagine having an emergency landing without landing gear? It's like something out of Top Gun 😎. But seriously though, I hope those crew members are okay. The whole thing sounds super intense and scary. I'm not sure what kind of malfunction could cause that kind of thing, but I guess they'll figure it out once the investigation is done πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ. And wow, the video of it all going down must be crazy... can you imagine being on that plane and seeing your wheels lift off the ground 😲? Anyway, glad everyone's safe, fingers crossed the cause gets figured out soon πŸ‘

🚨🀯 I mean, seriously guys, an emergency landing without landing gear? That's just crazy! πŸ™„ And those flames shooting out from under the plane? 😲 Not exactly what you want to see on a Tuesday afternoon. I'm glad no one was hurt, but still, can't NASA afford to upgrade their equipment? It's like they're still flying around in the Stone Age πŸ€–. And don't even get me started on those videos - are we really gonna keep watching that stuff? πŸ˜…

Can you believe this?! 🚨😲 I mean, a plane that just lands without its landing gear? That's crazy! And flames shooting out from underneath it? 😱 What were they thinking?! Or should I say, what went wrong?! I'm glad both crew members are safe and sound though. You can't put a price on human life, right? πŸ™

I do hope the investigation finds out what caused this malfunction, because it's gotta be something serious to make you lose all that gear! And those social media videos? Wild! I don't know how people can handle seeing stuff like that online. It's just too much for some folks! 😲 Anyway, glad nothing worse happened and we got that info out there so we can move on from this crazy story...

OMG, like I'm still shaking after watching that vid!!! πŸ˜±πŸš€ Can you even imagine?! The WB-57 is literally a legend, been around since the 70s and all it does is keep going strong. I mean, we gotta give those crew members major props for staying calm in that situation. Emergency landing without gear? That's just crazy talk! 🀯 But seriously, NASA is like, super transparent about these things (imagine if they weren't lol), so I'm curious to see what goes down during the investigation. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing and they can get back to doing what they do best - space exploration! πŸ”πŸš€ And btw, who else has seen those vids of them flying around with no gear on? Mind blown πŸ’₯

omg can u believe dis?! 🀯 NASA plane just made emergency landing in texas without gears 😲! like, i know planes can malfunction, but flames shooting out from under the plane? that's crazy! πŸš’πŸ˜¨ thankfully, both crew members are safe tho πŸ‘πŸ‘. i wonder what went wrong with the gear system... was it a manufacturing defect or maybe something else? πŸ’‘ whoever finds out will tell us soon enough πŸ•°οΈ. anyway, glad no one was hurt 😊. hope the plane gets fixed ASAP so they can fly again πŸ›©οΈπŸ’¨. NASA is like, super reliable and all πŸ™, but sometimes accidents happen... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

this is crazy 🀯, like how can a plane even survive a crash without its landing gear? i guess that's the kind of thing that makes you question how reliable those old planes are... anyway, glad no one was seriously hurt, but that must've been terrifying for everyone involved 😬. and yeah, it's only a matter of time before this incident gets thoroughly investigated to figure out what exactly went wrong πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ
