'Vooch' delivers Bulls from a mess, but what about Patrick Williams?

Patrick Williams' Mindset Shift Brings Bulls Back to Life

The Chicago Bulls' recent resurgence can be attributed, in part, to Patrick Williams' unorthodox approach to his game. The 6-foot-6 forward has shed the pressure of being an elite scorer and is now embracing a more balanced, next-play mentality.

While his minutes and scoring average have taken a hit, Williams' willingness to adapt has led to significant improvements in other areas. His plus/minus basketball has seen a welcome resurgence, with him playing on the plus side for the first time in his career. This newfound freedom has also translated into increased speed and efficiency on the court.

In Wednesday's thrilling 122-121 win over the Trail Blazers, Williams was instrumental in setting up Nikola Vucevic for the game-winning three at the horn. The Bulls' bench outscored Portland 60-20, with Williams making a notable impact off the bench.

However, what's truly remarkable about Williams is his mental approach to the game. Unlike in previous seasons, where he struggled with overthinking and self-doubt, he now takes a "next-play mentality" approach, focusing on executing each play without worrying about the outcome.

"I've never really been a guy that's really cared too much (about the outside noise)," Williams said. "I felt like I always held myself to a higher standard than anybody can ever hold me too... Now, if anything, that part has been what I've gotten better at."

Bulls coach Billy Donovan agrees, saying he wants Williams to be decisive and aggressive on the court while also accepting his limitations. "You always want to see a player improve but there's also got to be a place where you've got to accept who the player is," Donovan said.

As the Bulls continue their strong start, it will be interesting to see how Williams' mental approach to the game continues to evolve and impact the team's success. For now, his willingness to adapt and let go of external pressure has brought him to a new level of confidence โ€“ both on and off the court.

im think its cool that patrick williams is being more chill about his game and just focusing on making good plays next time but at same time its also scary how much pressure was he under before lol like what if he loses his cool or has a bad game idk how well this new mindset of his will hold up in big games but overall im rooting for him to keep being the best player hes capable of

lol at patrick williams being all chill about it ๐Ÿ™ƒ he used to be so uptight about scoring, but now he's just chillin' and playing his game ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ like that's the best thing ever! his new mindset shift has brought him a sense of freedom on the court and it shows in his performance. he's still got skills, but now he's not worried about being a superstar scorer all the time ๐Ÿ™Œ that's actually kind of refreshing to see. plus, it's nice to see the coach acknowledging that sometimes you just gotta accept what the player is and let them do their thing. good on billy donovan for keeping it real ๐Ÿ‘

idk about this whole "next-play mentality" thing ๐Ÿค”. sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. i mean, patrick williams is a talented player and all, but let's not forget he's still gonna score 25 points a game or whatever ๐Ÿ˜‚. it's not like he's giving up on his elite scoring skills, he's just finding ways to be more efficient with them. plus, what's wrong with overthinking the game? maybe he's just really smart and sees things that others don't ๐Ÿค“. and is billy donovan really saying that patrick should just accept who he is? doesn't that mean patrick will just plateau or something? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ i dunno, sounds like a bunch of coach-speak to me ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

๐Ÿค• just saw that there was another 5.4 magnitude earthquake in Japan yesterday ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ˜ฌ meanwhile in the US, people are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian last month, it's like one natural disaster after another... and don't even get me started on climate change ๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿ’”

I'm tellin' ya, this Patrick Williams kid is like a master of mind control ๐Ÿคฏ. He's all about that "next-play mentality" and it's got his game turnt up ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I mean, he's not worried about what others think, he's just focused on the present moment. It's like he's on another level, you know? ๐Ÿ’ฅ

And have you seen the way he sets up Nikola Vucevic for that game-winning three? That's some next-level vision right there ๐ŸŒ. The fact that his bench is outscoring Portland 60-20? That's just crazy! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

But what really gets me is how he used to struggle with overthinking and self-doubt. Now, he's like a completely different player. It's like he's shed the skin of his old ego and is just being himself ๐Ÿ™.

I'm telling you, this guy is onto something. He's got that special sauce ๐Ÿ”ฎ and I'm excited to see how it all plays out. The Bulls are on fire and Patrick Williams is the catalyst ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

omg i love watching patrick williams play!! ๐Ÿคฉ he's like totally transformed from last season he used to be so extra with scoring but now he's all about playing smart and letting his teammates do their thing ๐Ÿค it's super inspiring to see him go from being really high-strung to just chillin' on the court ๐Ÿ˜Ž i think this new mindset of his is a big reason why the bulls are killing it right now ๐Ÿ”ฅ and can we talk about how awesome it is that he's not worried about what others think of him? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ he's like, "meh, I'm just gonna play my game" ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ i hope he keeps being this confident and continues to lead the team to victory ๐Ÿ‘

I'm so confused about this Patrick Williams guy... like what happened to him? He was playing bad and then suddenly he's like 'oh I'm gonna focus on the next play'? And it's working out for the Bulls, which is cool I guess. I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story? But what's up with him saying he didn't care about all the outside noise? Does that even make sense? It sounds like he was trying to convince himself more than anyone else

๐Ÿคฏ I'm loving this mindset shift from Patrick Williams! He used to be all about putting up points, but now he's like "nah, I got this". The way he's embracing that 'next-play mentality' is so refreshing! ๐Ÿ”„ It's amazing how much of a difference it makes when you're not worried about what others think. And to see him being more decisive and aggressive on the court... it's like a whole new player has emerged ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm also loving Billy Donovan's approach to helping Williams find his balance. He's right, there's got to be a point where you accept who you are as a player and just focus on playing to your strengths ๐Ÿค It's not about being perfect, it's about being the best version of yourself.

The Bulls' resurgence is definitely thanks in part to this new-found confidence from Williams. And can we talk about that bench performance? ๐Ÿ’ฅ 60-20 against one of the best teams in the league? That's huge ๐Ÿคฏ The energy they brought was palpable and it's no surprise they came out on top.

I'm excited to see how this mental shift continues to impact the team's success. Will we see more players adopting this mindset and taking their games to new heights? Only time will tell, but I'm feeling good about this Bulls team right now ๐Ÿคž

I'm loving Patrick Williams' new vibe ๐Ÿคฉ! He used to be all about the scoring, but now he's like a puzzle solver on the court - figuring out how to set up his teammates for easy buckets. It's also dope that he's embracing his limitations and not worrying too much about stats anymore ๐Ÿ“Š. Billy Donovan gets it right when he says Patrick needs to trust himself and play with confidence, no need to overthink it ๐Ÿ˜‚. The Bulls are killing it this season and I'm hyped to see how Patrick's growth will continue to impact the team's success ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm telling you, this Patrick Williams dude is like the ultimate example of how they control our minds in the NBA ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, think about it, he used to be all about scoring and now he's all about being "balanced" and taking a "next-play mentality". It sounds like some kinda mind trick, right? Like they're programming him to not care about what others think... it's all about the team, the system, and the numbers, bro ๐Ÿ“Š.

And don't even get me started on this "outside noise" thing he talks about. That's just code for "they're telling you to focus on your weaknesses", innit? Like, they want him to doubt himself so he'll open up to being more aggressive on the court... it's a clever way to make players do what they want without them even realizing it ๐Ÿ˜.

But, for real though, if this is some kinda mind control thing going on, I'm all about it ๐Ÿคช. More people need to realize that we're all just pawns in their game of basketball... and life ๐ŸŒŸ.

๐Ÿค” I think what's really cool about Patrick Williams' shift in mindset is how it's affecting not just his game, but also his mental health ๐Ÿง . It's easy to get caught up in trying to live up to expectations and prove ourselves, especially when we're high-profile players like him. But if you look at the numbers and what he's been able to accomplish since making this change, it's clear that it's allowed him to focus on what really matters โ€“ executing each play and trusting his instincts.

It's also interesting to see how coach Billy Donovan is supporting him in this process ๐Ÿ“š. The idea of accepting our limitations and playing to our strengths is something that can be tough for players to grasp, especially when they've been taught to strive for greatness. But if Williams' newfound confidence and focus carry over to the team's success, it could have huge implications for the Bulls' chances this season ๐Ÿ’ช.

im loving patrick williams' new approach to the game ๐Ÿคฉ he used to be so intense about scoring all the time but now he's more chill and it's really paying off ๐Ÿ‘Œ his plus/minus has gotten way better and he's playing faster too! ๐Ÿ˜„ i think billy donovan is doing a great job of figuring out what williams needs to succeed he's not trying to change who patrick is, just help him be the best version of himself ๐Ÿ™

I think its awesome how Patrick Williams is changing his mindset and it's making such a big difference for the Bulls ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ€! He's not worried about scoring every game, just playing his best basketball and that's making him a way better player. And I love how Billy Donovan is supporting him in letting go of external pressure - its all about being present on the court and trusting yourself ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

I'm lovin' this new direction for Patrick Williams ๐Ÿ˜‚! He's finally shed that high-pressure mentality and it's made all the difference ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, who wouldn't want to just play each play with no worries about the outcome? It's like a weight's been lifted off his shoulders ๐Ÿ’จ. And can we talk about how cool it is to see him thriving in this new role? He's still bringin' that same energy and skill to the court, but now he's free to be himself ๐ŸŒŸ. I'm loving what Billy Donovan has done with him as a coach too - findin' ways to get him comfortable and confident without changin' who he is at all ๐Ÿ’ช. The Bulls are on fire right now, and Patrick Williams is the key ๐Ÿ”ฅ!

I think its dope how Patrick Williams is shifting his mindset ๐Ÿคฏ he's finally letting go of all that extra stress and just playing for the next play! It's made such a big difference in his game, plus/minus is through the roof ๐Ÿ’ช and he's moving so much faster on the court. I love how coach Billy Donovan is supporting him too, it's clear they're working together to get Williams to be the best version of himself. And that interview quote from Patrick? Mind blown ๐Ÿคฏ "I've never really been a guy that's really cared too much (about the outside noise)" โ€“ so true! Sometimes you just gotta tune out all the noise and focus on what matters most: executing your game ๐Ÿ’ช

I gotta say, Patrick Williams is like a completely different player right now ๐Ÿคฏ. He used to be all about scoring, but now he's all about making smart decisions and playing team ball ๐Ÿ€. It's really cool to see him take pressure off himself and just focus on executing each play without worrying about the outcome. His mental approach is so refreshing ๐Ÿ’ก. And it's awesome that coach Billy Donovan is allowing him to be his player, you know, accepting his limitations ๐Ÿ˜Ž. The Bulls are looking like a real contender now, and Williams' growth is huge ๐Ÿš€.

omg u gotta watch patrick williams play 2day hes got that next-play mentality down pat ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ”ฅ like he's not worried bout scoring or anything, just wants 2 execute each play & let his teammates do their thang ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช its so refreshing 2 see someone finally break free from the pressure & find peace on the court

๐Ÿคฉ I think its awesome that Patrick Williams is embracing a more balanced mindset on the court! He was always an incredible scorer but it sounds like he's found a way to take some of the pressure off himself and focus on being a well-rounded player. Its cool that he's learning to accept his limitations and not get too caught up in what others think he should be doing. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’ช
