We all benefit from higher education – so why should only students bear the costs? | Brief letters

We all benefit from higher education, yet many are forced to bear the costs. This isn't right - as taxpayers, we should share the burden of supporting others in pursuing further learning.

In fact, the value of higher education goes far beyond just those who attend university. It underpins safe infrastructure, healthcare, scientific innovation, and a thriving creative arts economy. We all benefit from these advancements, whether or not we've pursued higher education ourselves.

It's only fair that we should be willing to contribute towards these costs as taxpayers, rather than placing them solely on the shoulders of those who are already sacrificing financially for their own future prospects.

omg I totally agree with this 🤩! it's like, we're all part of this community and we should support each other, you know? paying taxes is a responsibility, but it's also an opportunity to make a difference in people's lives 🌟 higher education is not just about the students, it's about the whole society benefiting from it, so let's share the load 💕 instead of making those who can't afford it carry the entire weight on their shoulders 😩 what about everyone else who pays taxes and doesn't have to worry about tuition fees? shouldn't we be doing more to help out? 🤝

I'm so down with this idea 🤩. It's like, we all invest in our communities and expect the returns, right? Education is a massive driver of growth and progress, but it's not just about the individuals benefiting from it – it's about creating a better society for everyone.

Think about it, every single one of us uses stuff that comes out of research & development at universities 🤓. Medicine, tech, design... it's all connected to education. And yet, we're still leaving it up to students to foot the bill? That's just not fair.

As a society, we should be willing to chip in and support these initiatives – after all, we reap the benefits so why shouldn't we help out? It's time to rethink this whole 'individual responsibility' thing and start seeing education as a public good 🤑. We can make it work!

I mean... I'm all for people having access to good edu but at the same time, we gotta think about our tax dollars too 🤑. If everyone's gonna benefit from it, shouldn't we chip in a bit? But on the other hand, if we're not willing to pay for it, how are those who can't afford it supposed to get ahead? 🤔 It's like, I know higher edu is super important but so are our finances 🤑. I don't think it's that simple just because we all benefit from it... or do I? 😂 Maybe I'm just being too logical about this one...

I'm so down with this idea 🤩! Like, I get it, not everyone can afford uni and that's just a fact. But we should be sharing the load here - after all, taxes aren't like, 'cause-and-effect' situations where you only pay if you're benefiting directly. The benefits of higher ed are way bigger than that 🤯. It's not like us non-students aren't getting any value from it - we've got better roads, hospitals and whatnot because they've been built by uni grads 💼. So yeah, let's just chip in a bit more on our tax bills, fair dinkum? 👍

🤔 i mean come on, it just doesn't make sense that we're all paying taxes and we still have people struggling to afford higher education 🤑 like what's next? are we gonna have to pay for their student loans too? 💸 seriously though, our society needs more investment in education. it's not just about the individuals who attend uni, it's about the bigger picture – better infrastructure, better healthcare, better innovation... all that stuff is connected to higher education 📚 and we need to start valuing it more 🤑

🤔 I feel like governments are always talking about how education is key to a better society, but when it comes down to it, they're not willing to put their money where their mouth is. 🤑 It's just not fair that those who can't afford it have to bear the whole cost. Like, we all benefit from stuff like safe roads and good healthcare, right? So why should only those who are lucky enough to get a degree get to enjoy the benefits?

And it's not just about personal gain either - think about how many startups and innovation hubs rely on people with degrees in science and tech. It's basically free money for them, but what about everyone else? 🤷‍♀️ I think we should all chip in as taxpayers to help fund education, so that anyone can pursue their dreams without breaking the bank.

Man... I'm so down with this idea 🤩! Like, it's crazy that we all benefit from higher education, but some people have to foot the bill themselves. It's not right, you know? As a taxpayer, it's only fair that I contribute towards supporting others in pursuing their degrees, 'specially when they're gonna be out there creating awesome stuff that benefits everyone 🤓.

And it's not just about the degree holders, either. The value of higher education goes way beyond that. It's like, have you seen all the cool tech and innovations that come out of university research? Or how about the amazing art and culture that gets created when people are free to express themselves without fear of poverty 🎨?

We should be willing to chip in as taxpayers to support these costs, 'cause let's be real, we're all better off with a more educated society. It's time for us to step up and share the burden, rather than leaving it on those who are already struggling financially 💸.

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on here 🐟. They're trying to shift the blame from the ones who can't afford it (students) to all of us taxpayers... like we don't have enough to worry about? 😒 Meanwhile, the real beneficiaries are the companies and industries that get a boost from this "education" and innovation 💸. What's really going on is that they're just trying to create a new class system - the haves and the have-nots 🤝. We should be questioning why we're being asked to foot the bill for someone else's education, rather than looking into ways to make it more accessible to everyone 📚💡

I'm so done with people thinking uni is just for rich kids 🙄. I mean, think about it - we get all sorts of benefits from having a well-educated population, but nobody ever talks about how that affects the rest of us who aren't in university 🤔. It's like we're expected to pay more taxes and contribute to our society without getting anything in return... not cool 😒. I'm all for helping those who need it, but shouldn't we be sharing the burden a bit more?

🤔 I don't know about this whole 'taxpayer's gotta chip in' thing... like, what if not everyone has the means to pay? That's not fair to those who are just trying to get by. And let's be real, not everyone is gonna use their degree for some fancy-schmancy job that creates all these 'safe infrastructure' and 'scientific innovation' advancements... I mean, some people might just want to start their own business or work in the arts and not need all that formal ed.

And have you seen the prices of uni lately? It's like, totally out of reach for most people. I think we should be focusing on making education more accessible and affordable, rather than expecting everyone to contribute to it as taxpayers...
