What Trump is forgetting: American nations have a long history of open borders | Daniel Mendiola

I'm really thinking about this... I mean, have you ever stopped to think about why we need borders in the first place? Like, what's the real purpose behind them? Is it just to control who comes in or is there something deeper going on? 🤔 It feels like we're so caught up in the idea of "security" that we've lost sight of what's really important. And I'm not saying immigration isn't a complex issue, but let's be real, thousands of people dying trying to cross borders every year seems way more devastating than any hypothetical threat to Western civilization... 🌎 I guess what I'm saying is, have we been so focused on protecting our own interests that we've forgotten how to welcome and include others? 💕

idk why ppl still think closed borders r the ansr 😒. its like, americans have always ben 4 immigrants comin in & out 4 centuries 🤯. and yall think its gonna b different now? 🙄 the thing is, alot of ppl dont wanna just sit arond & do nothin. u gotta make a change. and trust me, thats not gunna happen jus bc ur gov thinks its "secure". we need 2 rethink how wwe approach this. more open borders = better economic outcomes 4 everyone 🤝🏽💼

I'm worried about this open borders debate 🤔. I mean, what's wrong with having some control at the border? We've got terrorists and human traffickers trying to sneak in, right? But at the same time, it seems like we're being too harsh. I remember my grandparents used to come from Europe when they were young and just wanted a better life for themselves. They faced so many challenges here but they worked hard and contributed to our community.

I think what's missing is finding that balance between security and compassion 🤝. We can't let anyone just waltz in without going through proper vetting, but we also can't keep people out who are genuinely seeking a better life for themselves. It's like my mom used to say when I was growing up - 'you can't separate the good from the bad by looking at faces or skin color'. We need to focus on understanding the complexities of immigration and working towards solutions that benefit everyone 💡

🤔 I'm low-key surprised that the new NSS still thinks closed borders are the answer 🚫. Like, didn't we learn from the whole "the Great Migration" in the US? 🌄 It's been proven time and time again that immigration isn't a zero-sum game where one group of people has to lose out on jobs and resources because another group wins them 💪. And have you seen those statistics about how closed borders actually lead to more crime and social unrest? 📊 It's wild that policymakers are still so stuck on this idea that immigrants are somehow "eroding Western civilization" when really they're just trying to make a living like everyone else 👥. We need to shift our focus from border control to supporting people who are already here and making it easier for them to integrate into society 🌈💕

🤔 border policy has been such a mess for ages... people saying open borders sounds too easy but trust me i've seen friends from mexico travel to canada & back without a hitch, it's not rocket science 🚀 we need to rethink how we approach this whole immigration thing... what if instead of locking down borders we focused on creating economic opportunities & social welfare systems that attract people who wanna contribute? 💼🌎
