When will ‘The Rip’ be on Netflix? – streaming guide

Netflix has finally announced its release date for the highly anticipated film "The Rip", starring Academy Award winners Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The movie is set to premiere on January 16, 2026, at midnight Pacific Time (PT) and will be exclusively available on Netflix with no theatrical release planned.

"The Rip" follows a gripping storyline where a team of Miami cops are faced with the discovery of millions in cash in a derelict stash house. As tensions rise, trust among the team begins to fray, and outside forces start to take notice. The official synopsis reads: "Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on."

The all-star cast includes Matt Damon as Lieutenant Dane Dumars and Ben Affleck as Det Sergeant JD Byrne, alongside Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Nestor Carbonell, Sasha Calle, and more.

Netflix subscribers will need to be prepared for a late-night viewing session, as the movie is set to debut at 12 am PT/3 am ET. The release time will vary depending on the viewer's time zone, with different start times listed across multiple regions.

Interestingly, there won't be a theatrical release for "The Rip", making it an exclusive Netflix production. Viewers can catch the film from January 16, 2026, without needing to head to the cinema.

If you're eager to watch this new movie, mark your calendars and get ready to binge-watch on January 16th.

omg can't wait for "The Rip" 🤯🎥 i'm all about those late night binges with friends 📺💻 ben affleck & matt damon are a power couple in the making 💪👊 and that plot twist? 🔥 got me hyped already!!! 👀 will be keeping an eye on how this exclusive release thingy goes down, but fingers crossed for more great content from netflix 🤞

I'm kinda hyped about "The Rip" but I need some more info before I start salivating 🤔. What's with the lack of a theatrical release? Is Netflix trying to make a point or is it just a cost-cutting measure? And how do we know this movie isn't gonna be a total dud because of no promo in theaters? Also, what's up with the time zone thing? Can't they just make one release time like, everywhere? 📺🕰️

I'm so over this whole "late-night viewing session" thing 🤯. Like, who thought it was a good idea to make people stay up all night just to watch a movie? It's not like it's going to be some groundbreaking film that needs to be experienced live or anything. I mean, Netflix is already giving you the option to pause and rewind, so what's the big deal? And can we please talk about how this doesn't bode well for sleep schedules 🛋️😴. And exclusivity on Netflix? Not exactly selling me on it...

ugh dont even get me started on this one... just another original Netflix movie that's going to be all over the internet in like a week btw, who needs theaters anymore? its not like ben affleck and matt damon are gonna make some groundbreaking film or anything lol theyre both old news anyway. and 12 am pt? good luck getting anyone to actually watch it at midnight 😴👀

🎥 just saw the news about "The Rip" coming out in 2026 🤯 i'm super hyped for Ben Affleck & Matt Damon together again! 👊 they're like two peas in a pod 🍝 it's gonna be a wild ride with all that cash and betrayal drama 💸💪 anyone else counting down the days till Jan 16th? 🕰️

I'm super stoked for this one lol 🤩 I mean, who doesn't love a good heist thriller with an all-star cast? The idea of millions in cash being discovered and the trust within the team starting to fray is just so intense. And let's be real, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are legends - their chemistry on screen is gonna be electric 🔥 I'm loving that it's going straight to Netflix too, no need to worry about waiting for a theatrical release or breaking the bank on tickets. January 16th can't come soon enough 🕰️
