WWE’s approach to WarGames needs a hard look after Survivor Series missteps

WWE's Formula for WarGames Needs Overhaul After Survivor Series Snafus

The company's reliance on high-profile match-ups at the expense of cohesive storytelling has come under fire following last weekend's Survivor Series event in San Diego.

A prime example of this trend was the mismatched team-up featuring Bron Breakker, AJ Lee, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes. The usually dependable WWE tried to milk every minute of the matchup by throwing in gimmicky twists, such as a masked attacker that has been used countless times before. Perhaps most egregious was the predictable reveal of who had cost CM Punk the World Heavyweight Championship – leaving viewers feeling robbed.

To cite an example of how well a well-crafted WarGames story can work, look to the original Bloodline storyline. The tension surrounding whether Sami Zayn would secure his spot within the faction remains one of WWE's most compelling narrative arcs in recent memory. By pitting two powerful factions against each other, WWE tapped into a rich narrative and built towards a thrilling confrontation that was both satisfying and believable.

Unfortunately, this year's WarGames event felt like an amalgamation of different concepts rather than a unified vision. The absence of Seth Rollins meant the matchup on the other side of the ring lost its cohesion and became disjointed at times, detracting from what could have been a more substantial narrative.

🤔 you know what really got me about this whole thing is how WWE's obsession with high-profile match-ups kinda blinds them to what makes a real story tick 📚. I mean, think about it - when was the last time they had a match-up where the stakes felt genuine? It's like they're so caught up in making sure their A-list talent gets to shine that they forget about building actual tension and conflict between the wrestlers 🌪️.

I mean take that Bloodline storyline, for example. They took this huge faction build-up and they ran with it 💪, but most importantly they made us care about what was happening on-screen 🤝. The way they pitted Sami Zayn against his own people, the drama that unfolded... it wasn't just some contrived plot twist, it felt real 🔥.

So yeah, WWE needs to shake things up and remember how to tell a story 💬. Maybe it's time for them to take a step back, breathe, and figure out what they really want to achieve with WarGames 🤓

man... WWE needs to revamp their WarGames format ASAP 🤯😩 they went for high profile matches instead of actual storytelling and it showed. like what's up with the gimmicky twists? couldn't they come up with something new? the whole thing felt so predictable, especially that CM Punk reveal 🙄. and aint nobody got time for disjointed matches when you got two factions going at each other... or in this case, just one faction 🤷‍♂️

omg i was so hyped for this year's war games but now im def thinking they need to shake things up!!! i mean who thought it was a good idea to mash up 4 superstars with no clear connection?? and ugh that masked attacker gag had me rolling my eyes lol. they really gotta work on getting the storytelling right this time, idk what happened to all the epic vibes from bloodline lol

the wwe needs to take a step back and think about what makes wargames special in the first place 🤔 it's not just about throwing some big names together and hoping for the best, it's about creating a story that builds towards something epic. like, remember when bloodline was at its peak? they had a narrative thread that spanned months, with tension and suspense building until the final showdown. what happened this year was a mess 🤮 the gimmicks were overused and predictable, and the lack of seth rollins on one side really threw off the whole thing. wwe needs to focus more on the storytelling and less on just slapping together a bunch of superstars in a cage match 💥

omg i know right?? WWE's always prioritizing those high-profile matches over actual storytelling 🤦‍♂️. it was so predictable with CM Punk's loss, like hello originality 😒. the WarGames event felt super disjointed this year, like they threw a bunch of random twists at us and hoped we wouldn't notice 🙄. i'm still hyped for the Bloodline storyline though, that was so well done 🤩. Seth Rollins' absence definitely threw off the whole vibe of the match, feels like they should've had a better plan in place 💡

I'm still reeling from this year's Survivor Series and WarGames event 🤯. WWE needs to shake things up and focus on storytelling over high-profile match-ups. That Bron Breakker, AJ Lee, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes team-up was just a mess 🤦‍♂️. And don't even get me started on CM Punk's Championship loss 😡. It felt like they were trying to milk every minute of the matchup without any real substance.

On the other hand, that original Bloodline storyline was masterclass 📚. WWE nailed it with pitting two powerful factions against each other and building towards a thrilling confrontation 👊. I wish this year's WarGames had followed suit instead of feeling like an amalgamation of different concepts 😐. Seth Rollins' absence really threw off the cohesion of that matchup, making it feel disjointed at times 🤔. WWE needs to get back to basics and focus on crafting compelling narratives over flashy match-ups 💪.

WWE needs to get back to basics 🤔. This WarGames thing is all about the execution, you know? They need to find that sweet spot where you've got the high-profile match-ups, but they're not just there for shock value. It's gotta feel like a real story, with twists and turns that make sense 🔮. I mean, what happened last weekend was a mess 🚮. You can tell they were trying too hard to pack in as many big names as possible instead of focusing on the actual narrative. And don't even get me started on the whole CM Punk thing 😒. It felt like they knew exactly who was gonna be the traitor, but they just wanted to check that box off so they could say "look what we did!" 📝. They need to simplify things and let the story breathe, you know?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that whole WarGames thing 🤯. I mean, I get why they try to push big names but it feels like WWE forgets about the actual storyline 💔. Remember when Bloodline was going on? That was some good storytelling right there! They had everyone's back, it felt real, and it led up to something epic... unlike this year's WarGames where it just felt like a mess 🤪. I need them to focus more on building the narrative instead of trying to cram in every superstar they have 😩. And what's with the mask guy? Been used so many times before, it's getting old 👺. Can't we get some fresh ideas for once? 🙄

I'm still reeling from that Survivor Series show 🤯😩 I mean, WWE's always about those big matches, but sometimes it feels like they're sacrificing storylines for the sake of entertainment. The WarGames match was a mess, tbh 🤦‍♂️. I loved how Bloodline went down – the tension, the rivalries, the payoff was so satisfying! 😊 It felt like WWE was trying to cram too many ideas into one event, and it showed.

I'm kinda hoping they take some notes from that and reboot their WarGames formula 📝💡. Less gimmicks, more focus on building up those storylines... that's where the real magic happens for me! 😄 What do you think? Should WWE give WarGames a refresh or stick with what they've got? 🤔

the wwe has officially figured out how to turn a 2-hour match into an excruciating endurance test...i mean, i get it, some people actually tune in for this stuff 🙄 but c'mon, can't they just have a decent storyline for once? the bloodline storyline was fire, though. that's what we're talking about 🤯 and yeah, seth rollins' absence really threw off the whole thing. it feels like they're just phoning it in now...anyway, i'm gonna go watch some actual wrestling on earth instead of this...whatever this is 😴

man, i was really hyped for this year's war games event 🤯 but it kinda fell flat, you know? they just threw in so many big name matches and forgot about the actual storyline 🙄 it felt like an excuse to get everyone on the same card together rather than actually building up a cohesive narrative. i mean, what happened to the old bloodline storyline from a few years back? that was some next level storytelling 🔥 they shoulda taken cues from that instead of trying to cram every superstar into this mess 🤦‍♂️ and yeah, losing seth rollins completely messed it up too... it's like they forgot what war games is even supposed to be about - a big, intense match with no holds barred! 😤

OMG 🤯 I was so hyped for WarGames this year but honestly felt like WWE just phoned it in 😴 The lack of cohesive storytelling is soooo not the WWE we know and love! 🙅‍♂️ Last week's Survivor Series had some major snafus, if you ask me. The Bron Breakker team-up was like a hot mess 🤯 I mean, who thought putting AJ Lee in the same ring as Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes was a good idea? 🤷‍♂️ And don't even get me started on that masked attacker – been there, done that before 😴

I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong with this year's WarGames. The original Bloodline storyline is still one of the best thing WWE's ever done 👏 If you take away Seth Rollins and the whole thing just falls apart 🤦‍♂️ I need them to go back to the drawing board and try again – with a solid plan, please! 😅

Ugh, WWE needs to get their act together with WarGames 🤯! They're so focused on booking crazy high-profile matches that they forget about building actual storylines 😒. Last weekend's Survivor Series was all over the place and it just felt like a mess. I mean, who thought pairing Bron Breakker and AJ Lee together would work? 🤷‍♂️ It was like WWE threw in every random gimmick they could think of just to fill time.

And don't even get me started on how predictable the CM Punk reveal was 😴. If you're gonna set up a storyline, at least have some real surprises or twists! The original Bloodline storyline is still one of my faves though - it felt like they really invested in the narrative and built towards something amazing 💥. This year's WarGames just felt like a bunch of different ideas thrown together 🤯. And can we please get Seth Rollins back next time? 😂
