After the shooting of Renee Good, we see dissent can be fatal in Trump's America – all bets are off | Emma Brockes

omg u guys i cant even right now thinking about Renee Good and how she was literally killed by an ICE agent because she had the nerve to mock them lol what even is wrong with these ppl?! its like they think protesters are just going to shut up and go away but nope we got rights too 🤬 and newsflash: mocking someone doesnt equal inciting violence (although i get why some ppl might see it that way) but seriously who gets killed for speaking out against the system?!?! its like americas gone mad

awww man this is so sad Renee Good's life was cut short over something that should never have ended in violence she and her wife were just trying to stand up for what they believe in I'm literally shook by the fact that an ICE agent thought it was okay to shoot someone who wasn't even threatening them 🤯🚫 we need to keep having these conversations about police brutality and when it's okay to protest because sometimes it feels like we're living in a dystopian novel 💔

Wow 😱, 600 people killed by police officers annually is insane 🤯! What's going on in America that makes protesters think they're walking into a war zone instead of a peaceful protest? Interest 😎, it seems like the lines between law enforcement and paramilitary personnel are getting really blurred. And what's with all these deaths? It's like people have lost their lives over exercising their right to free speech 🤷‍♀️💔.

Man I'm still trying to process this whole thing 🤯... Renee Good was just trying to stand up against ICE and she gets killed, it's just not right 😡. The fact that they were trying to have a conversation with the agent, but their tone was perceived as "sarcastic" is just ridiculous 🙄. I mean, can't you just talk to someone in a respectful way even when you disagree? It seems like the whole system is just set up to silence people who are speaking out against injustice 💔.

And yeah, it's true that protests can get violent, but that's not the point - the point is that authorities should be trained to handle those situations without killing people 💀. 600 deaths a year from police officers? That's insane! And what about Ashli Babbitt, she was just trying to do her job and ended up getting killed too... it's like, can't we find a way to resolve conflicts peacefully without resorting to violence? 🤷‍♀️

It's not like Renee Good and Becca were trying to incite a riot or anything, they were just standing up for what they believe in and got caught in the crossfire... it's so unfair 😭. And now people are talking about whether protests should be seen as threats to national security? It's like, we're living in some dystopian novel here 📚. We need to find a way to make our voices heard without putting ourselves in harm's way 💪.
