Bose made the consumer friendly move to open source its SoundTouch speakers

I'm kinda surprised that Bose is ditching cloud-based features for SoundTouch speakers 🤔... like, I get it, customer feedback and all that jazz 💡. But at the same time, this feels a bit like a cop-out to me 😐. I mean, what's next? Are they gonna abandon support for AirPlay and Spotify Connect too? 📺

On a more positive note, though, I'm actually kind of stoked that Bose is giving third-party devs the green light to create their own compatible software 🤖. That could lead to some really cool integrations and tools! 🔧 And hey, it's about time they listened to customer concerns 🙏.

But what really got me thinking was how this decision might affect the speakers' overall value proposition 💸. If you're not gonna receive any further updates or cloud-based features, does that make them, like, less desirable compared to newer models? 🤔 Guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out 👀

🤦‍♂️ I'm actually kinda impressed that Bose is finally giving their users some control back over their SoundTouch speakers 🙌 but at the same time, isn't this just a huge mess? Like, I get it, they don't want to be beholden to cloud services anymore, but now we're stuck with outdated software and no new features 🤯 And what's up with the app still being available in a stripped-down format? It's like Bose is just phoning it in at this point 😒
