Bovino to leave Minneapolis as Trump reshuffles immigration operation

President Donald Trump has made significant changes to his immigration enforcement operation, including a major shake-up in Minneapolis. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino is expected to leave the city, following a second fatal shooting by federal officers that has sparked widespread criticism.

Bovino's leadership of the highly visible federal crackdowns, which have drawn fierce criticism from local officials, civil rights advocates, and congressional Democrats, will be replaced by Tom Homan, the president's border czar. Homan will report directly to the White House.

The Trump administration's aggressive approach to immigration enforcement has been met with resistance in Minnesota, where Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has called for an end to the federal crackdowns. In a phone call with Trump, Frey asked the president to stop the immigration surge, and Trump agreed that the present situation cannot continue.

However, it appears that the administration's tone may have softened slightly, as President Trump posted on social media that he had a "productive conversation" with Governor Tim Walz, who has been critical of the enforcement operations. The two leaders seemed to be on a similar wavelength, according to Trump.

Meanwhile, attorneys for the state and cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are pushing back against the federal government's immigration operation in court. A US District Judge is considering whether to grant requests to temporarily halt the operation, citing concerns that it is being used as a means of punishment for sanctuary laws and policies.

The judge expressed skepticism about the administration's motivation behind the crackdown, asking if there is no limit to what the executive can do under the guise of enforcing immigration law. The case has implications for other states that have been or could become targets of ramped-up federal immigration enforcement operations.

As the situation continues to unfold, protesters gathered outside a hotel where Bovino was believed to be staying, blowing whistles and banging pots in protest. The departure of Bovino marks a significant shift in the Trump administration's approach to immigration enforcement in Minnesota.

omg can u believe whats going on with the fed agents in minneapolis?! ๐Ÿคฏ theyre always so harsh and militarized its not even fair lol i mean ive heard stuff about them being really tough but second fatal shooting like thats just way too much its a shame that mayor frey had to have to call trump out on it he should get some major props for standing up 4 his city

i think its kinda funny how the president posted that he had a "productive conversation" with governor walz though lol if ur gonna criticize someone at least be honest about it dont try 2 sugarcoat it or make it sound like u got along when u didnt maybe just admit u were wrong and apologize i dunno maybe thats just me

anyway back 2 the immigration thing im not really sure wut 2 think about it its a super complex issue but idk maybe we should be focusing on more important things like our education system lol did u hear about the new school safety measures that went into effect this semester??

omg yaaas i'm so hyped that trump is finally softening his stance on immigration!! ๐Ÿ™Œ i mean, i know some ppl are still mad about the whole thing, but i think it's great that he had a productive convo with gov walz ๐Ÿ˜Š governor tim walz seems like a cool dude and i love how trump is listening to him. and can we pls talk about tom homan for a sec? he sounds soooo good at his job ๐Ÿคฉ i'm all about that border czar life! ๐Ÿ’ช btw, has anyone else heard about the court case? it's like, really interesting because it's about whether or not the feds can just start enforcing immigration laws on cities and states ๐Ÿค” i think tom homan is going to do a great job with this new gig, can't wait to see what he does next! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

idk about this change tbh... i mean, don't get me wrong, safety is super important but it seems like trump is making things more complicated than they need to be ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. i'm all for securing our borders and all that jazz but the way he's going about it feels kinda... heavy-handed? like, can't we just have a chill conversation with minneapolis mayor frey instead of threatening to "crack down" on them? ๐Ÿค” and what's up with homan taking over? is this really what we need in our cities? ๐Ÿšซ

I just got back from the most random road trip with my friends to this tiny town in Oregon ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿš—. We spent like, an hour arguing over who ate the last donut at the gas station ๐Ÿ˜‚. It was so funny! I swear, that's what I need more of โ€“ less immigration enforcement and more snack disputes ๐Ÿ˜‰. Anyway, have you guys ever noticed how weird it is to order food online? Like, "add pickles" or "skip the ranch"? What even is that ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ?

I dont think trump is making progress at all, its just more of same old thing! hes still being super aggressive about immigration laws but now shes got some new people leading the charge. that should make a diffrence right? like how does posting on social media with governor tim walz gonna change anything? we need real change not just some photo op to calm down the masses.

so like what's going on with trump and the border patrol thingy... i just got a new phone and i'm still trying to figure out how to use it ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway, so like how does this whole thing work? like, why can't they just let people in if they're not hurting anyone? ๐Ÿค”

i was watching this documentary on netflix about immigration and it said that a lot of immigrants are coming from different countries because their home country is poor or war-torn. i don't know how true that is but it makes sense to me, you feel? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

and omg have you seen the news about paris fashion week? i want to go so bad! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘œ

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure if this is a step forward or backward for the Trump admin... they're trying to soften their tone after all the backlash from Minneapolis, but at what cost? ๐Ÿค‘ They're just moving the problem around, switching out leaders without addressing the underlying issues. It's like they're saying "we're making changes, don't worry about it" instead of actually doing some real work. ๐Ÿ˜’ And what's with the judge questioning their motivations? That's gotta be annoying for them... ๐Ÿ™„

๐ŸŒŸ I feel like there's still hope for our country, you know? Like, yeah, we've got a lot of problems with immigration and law enforcement, but this is actually kinda cool... Tom Homan's taking over as head of the Border Patrol in Minneapolis, and it sounds like Trump is finally listening to some of his concerns ๐Ÿค”. Plus, Governor Walz and Trump seem to be on the same page now, which is pretty sweet ๐Ÿ™Œ. I know a lot of people are still upset about those fatal shootings, but at least something's changing for the better โช. And let's not forget, there are attorneys pushing back against the federal government in court, making sure everyone knows that immigration law can't just be used as a tool to punish certain states or cities ๐ŸŒŸ. We might not have all the answers yet, but it's nice to see some progress being made ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” just wondering if this change is gonna make a diff in minneapolis... seems like they've been dealing with this for ages ๐Ÿ™„. hope governor tim walz can keep pushing back on this issue ๐Ÿ‘Š. and btw, what's up with tom homan taking over? has he got the chops to tackle this complex issue? ๐Ÿค”

can't believe how quickly this is all going down ๐Ÿคฏ the way trumps handling this is gonna have major ripples across the country, especially in states that are trying to protect their residents from these federal crackdowns ๐ŸŒŽ it feels like the trump administration is trying to muscle in on local control and make decisions without consulting anyone ๐Ÿ™„ meanwhile, i'm seeing a lot of people saying that this move might be a softening of stance, but i'm not buying it ๐Ÿค‘ what's really going on here?

I dont get why they need so many people at the border, cant they just let some immigrants in? ๐Ÿค” idk what the point is of all this. And whats with the whistles and pots banging outside? sounds like a protest or somethin ๐Ÿ˜‚ anywayz, I was watchin a video on my phone the other day and it showed a dog doin some crazy tricks... ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’ฅ

omg u guys i just saw that trump made changes 2 his immigration thingy ๐Ÿคฏ and now this commander dude is leaving minneapolis ๐ŸŒฒ like what even is goin on? i feel bad 4 the fams there cuz they've been dealin w/ all this drama since biden took over. anywai tominic i got a friend who's actually from minnesota n she's livin in chicago and she's like "the police are treatin us like dogs here" ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ guess it's not just the news that's makin headlines anymore lol what do u guys think is goin down? should the feds leave minneapolis alone or r they justified in crackin down on immigration? ๐Ÿค”

I'm not sure what's more concerning โ€“ the fact that yet another Border Patrol Commander is leaving Minneapolis due to the backlash from federal officers' actions or the power dynamics at play here ๐Ÿค”. I mean, who gets to decide when and where our federal law enforcement agencies focus their efforts? It feels like there's a whole lot of politics going on behind the scenes, and not always in our best interests.

I'm also super frustrated that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is still trying to get traction with Trump, but it seems like he's getting nowhere fast ๐Ÿ˜’. As someone who lives here, I want to see real change โ€“ not just empty promises or PR spin. And what about the people being affected by this immigration enforcement? How are they supposed to trust that their concerns will be heard when powerful politicians and bureaucrats keep making decisions without public input?

It's time for us to push back even harder and make our voices heard on this issue ๐Ÿ’ช. We need more transparency, accountability, and real solutions โ€“ not just token gestures or PR stunts ๐Ÿ“ฐ.

omg i cant even imagine what it would be like if our school had a border patrol team ๐Ÿคฏโ€โ™€๏ธ at our gates instead of security guards! anyway back to this news, its kinda sad that a second fatal shooting happened and now someone new is taking over ๐Ÿ™โ€โ™‚๏ธ. but i guess its good that the mayor talked to president trump and he agreed to make things better ๐Ÿ‘. we should really learn more about how our schools handle different situations like this ๐Ÿ“šโ€โ™€๏ธ

.. I'm just so tired of all these changes ๐Ÿ™„. It feels like every time something happens, there's always someone new coming in to shake things up. Like, remember when you were a kid and your parents used to have rules? You didn't think twice about them because they seemed normal... now it's like the whole country is in chaos ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I mean, Minneapolis is already dealing with enough stuff without having some new guy come in and mess everything up ๐Ÿคฏ. And what about all those people who are just trying to live their lives? Can't we just leave them alone for once? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm like totally confused about this whole thing ๐Ÿค”... I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping our borders safe and all that jazz, but can't we just have a chill approach to it? Like, what's up with all these raids and arrests? It's just so intense and stressful for the people living here. And now they're changing the leader of the Border Patrol in Minneapolis... like, what's going on? Is this gonna make things better or worse? I'm watching from 2025 and it's just a whole lot to take in ๐Ÿ˜‚.

omg i just can't believe what's going on with donald trump and his immigration policies ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, i get it that he's all about strict border control but come on, fatal shootings and whatevs? ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ˜จ i'm not saying that the cops are bad or anything, but still... my cousin has a friend who's in minnesota and they're all like "what's going on with the immigration situation?" ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ and i'm just like "idk, dude" ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ but seriously, it's getting so out of hand. I swear, if my little sister was involved in a protest outside some hotel or whatever, i'd totally be there with her ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’–

can you believe what's going on with this border patrol commander dude? i mean, two fatal shootings already? that's crazy. it feels like we're back to the 90s when we had all those police brutality incidents. but here's the thing, people were protesting and demanding change back then too. i remember watching some of these old documentaries about the Rodney King beating incident... same vibes, fam. anyway, this new guy Tom Homan is coming in and i'm low-key hoping he'll bring some sense to the whole situation. but at the end of the day, it's still all just a bit too much for me ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ’”

idk why ppl think its a good idea 4 federal officers 2 have so much power 2 shoot & kill folks just cuz they're living in minnesota 4 now its said 2 be more "productive" under Homan's leadership lol who's 2 benefit from this? not the ppl being shot & killed or the communities affected by this enforcement op. & btw, whts up w/ the president thinkin he can just "agree" w/ frey over a phone call? that doesn't solve anything
