Chrysler recalls 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrids due to faulty battery that can catch fire

Chrysler is issuing a massive recall of over 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to a serious safety issue involving faulty batteries that can fail and ignite fires. According to U.S. traffic regulators, the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Chrysler has identified 19 reports and one injury related to the problem.

The recalled vehicles include 228,221 Jeep Wranglers from model years 2020-2025 and 91,844 Jeep Grand Cherokees from model years 2022-2026. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside structures until a remedy is determined and not charge them, in order to mitigate the risk of fire.

The faulty batteries were manufactured by Samsung SDI America in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The NHTSA has notified vehicle owners that they will receive interim notification letters starting December 2, 2025, with additional letters sent once the final remedy is available.

Those affected can contact Chrysler's customer service at 800-853-1403 for assistance. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for this recall can be searched on the NHTSA website beginning November 6, 2025. However, owners of vehicles previously recalled for the same issue will need to have the new remedy performed.

The recall number is 68C, and it highlights the ongoing safety concerns associated with certain components in modern vehicles.

Ugh, I just heard about this Jeep recall and it's got me all nostalgic for my old Wrangler from the early 2000s πŸš—πŸ˜’ It was such a blast to cruise around in that thing, but now I'm worried about the safety of these new plug-in hybrids. Faulty batteries can be super scary! What's the point of having a hybrid if it's just gonna be prone to fires? 😑

I know the NHTSA is trying to keep us safe and all, but it's frustrating when these recalls come along and make me question what I'm getting for my money. Can't we just have reliable cars that don't give us heart attacks on the road?! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Still, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry... or in this case, safer than a burning Jeep πŸš’πŸ’¨

Ugh, this is so frustrating! πŸ™„ Can't believe Chrysler is recalling these Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to faulty batteries that can catch fire. It's like they say, "better safe than sorry", right? 😬 I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the battery manufacturer is Samsung SDI America (located in Auburn Hills, Michigan), but still... πŸ€”

Anyway, owners of these affected vehicles are going to be relieved that Chrysler has identified the problem and is working on a fix. Hopefully, they can get this sorted out quickly so people aren't stuck with a car that's basically a fire hazard. It's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to safety features in modern vehicles. πŸš—πŸ’‘

Ugh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ this is so frustrating! I just bought my Jeep Wrangler last year and now I'm worried about those batteries 🚨. What if something happens while I'm driving? I hope Chrysler gets this sorted out ASAP πŸ’₯. And 320,000 vehicles?! That's crazy πŸ™„. I'm glad they're taking responsibility for the issue but it's just so inconvenient 😩. Did you know that Samsung SDI America is making these faulty batteries?! πŸ€” I don't trust them much now πŸ˜’. I'll be keeping a close eye on this recall and hoping my Jeep doesn't end up being one of the affected ones 😬.

πŸš—πŸ’‘ This recall is a clear case of corporate negligence, don't you think? I mean, how can one company, even with the best intentions, overlook such a critical issue in their production line for so long? It's like they're putting profits over people's safety... again. πŸ€‘πŸ‘Ž And what about accountability? Who's going to take the fall for this mess? The CEO or the manufacturer? πŸ€” The fact that it's Samsung SDI America, an American company, makes me wonder if our "export" policies have compromised our domestic standards. We should be ensuring our own companies meet certain safety benchmarks before we're shipping them out to other countries... πŸ‘₯πŸ’»

🚨😱 320k Jeep plug-in hybrids? That's insane! I mean, what if someone gets hurt or the fire spreads while they're trying to get a fix? So many owners will be out of commission for who knows how long... and it's all because of faulty batteries 🀯. What was Chrysler thinking?! πŸ˜’ And Samsung SDI America is taking the fall for this... no one likes a scapegoat πŸ’”. I'm glad they're being proactive and sending out notification letters, but it's just so frustrating that people will be inconvenienced like this. Can't they just get it right from the start? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

omg u wont blive this but jeep is havin a major prob lol its like they had a fire hazard & didnt even no wut was goin on!! i mean 320k vehs affected?! thats wild! how did it get 2 that point?! anyways, chrysler gotta step up their game on safety rite now 🚨πŸ’₯

I'm low-key worried about this recall πŸ€”πŸš—. A single faulty battery can cause a fire? That's not exactly reassuring for people who rely on their cars to get around. And what's up with Samsung SDI America manufacturing these batteries? How do they ensure quality control when there are issues like this?

Also, 320,000 vehicles is a huge number 🀯. I hope Chrysler has a solid plan in place to get them all fixed ASAP. The fact that owners have to park their cars outside structures until the remedy is determined makes sense, but I wonder how long that's gonna take.

I'd love to see some independent investigations on this one πŸ’‘. Is there any evidence that Samsung SDI America was warned about potential issues before these batteries were manufactured? How did Chrysler's quality control process fail so catastrophically?

Sources, anyone? πŸ“Š

🚨πŸ’₯ this is insane, like what's going on with our cars these days? first, it's electric vehicles and now it's plug-in hybrids catching fire... i'm not surprised though, safety standards just aren't where they need to be yet. think about all the money we're willing to spend on tech that's still gonna fail in a crucial way like this. and what's with samsung sdi america being the culprit? didn't they do some kinda quality control check before shipping these out? πŸ€” anyway, good thing chrysler is taking responsibility for it... should be making owners aware of this ASAP so we can all stay safe on the road πŸ’‘

OMG!!! can't believe this 🀯! Like, what's going on with these car manufacturers?! First, we're stuck with faulty airbags, now it's batteries that are a fire hazard?! 😱 And those 320k Jeep owners are about to get hit with some serious stress and costs... I mean, how many people can afford to pay for a new battery or even have their whole vehicle reworked?! πŸ€• And it's not just the financial burden, but also the inconvenience of having to park outside until this is sorted out... I feel so sorry for those Jeep owners πŸ˜”. And the fact that Samsung SDI America is at fault makes me wanna scream! Like, can't they just get it together?! πŸ’₯ The NHTSA should be all over this ASAP and make sure these folks are taken care of πŸ™.

Ugh I'm so done with these forum threads on recalls... can't we just get the info straight from the source? πŸ™„ Anyway, this Jeep recall is super concerning - faulty batteries causing fires? That's a major red flag. 320k vehicles affected? Only Samsung SDI America could mess up manufacturing that badly 😩. And now I have to navigate through all the forums and threads on this because... well, no one else seems to be talking about it directly πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Can't we just get notifications like everyone else for once? It's not rocket science, folks! Just park your Jeep outside till it gets fixed πŸ’‘

I don’t usually comment but... this whole thing with Jeep batteries is just crazy 🀯... 320k+ vehicles recalled? That's a lot of people potentially at risk. I mean, faulty batteries that can ignite fires? No thanks 😬... and Samsung SDI America, one of the major battery manufacturers, was involved in this mess. That's just not good for anyone πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ... what really bothers me is that owners are being told to park their vehicles outside structures until a remedy is found. What if they can't find a safe place to park? What if they're stuck on the road without a way to charge their cars? It's just so many questions and not enough answers πŸ€”... I guess this is another reminder that even with all the tech advancements, our vehicles are still prone to these kinds of issues πŸ’»...

I don’t usually comment but… can you believe how fast some big companies move on recalls? Like, I was just reading this news about Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles and they're recalling over 320k units because of faulty batteries that can catch fire 🚨. It's crazy to think about all those people being affected by something that could potentially cause a huge safety risk.

I'm not sure what's going on with the manufacturing process, but it seems like Samsung SDI America made these batteries and Chrysler is taking full responsibility for this recall. I mean, you'd think companies would learn from their mistakes sooner, but I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

It's still pretty scary to think about all those vehicles on the road with potentially faulty batteries. At least the owners are being notified and can take steps to mitigate the risk by not charging them or parking them outside structures until a remedy is found πŸ’‘. Fingers crossed that it gets sorted out soon!

🚨😬 just saw this news about Jeep plug-in hybrids... like, what's going on? Can't believe Chrysler is recalling so many of them due to faulty batteries 🀯 It's crazy how something as small as a battery can cause such a big problem. I feel bad for all the owners who are affected and have to deal with this stress πŸ€• At least they're taking steps to mitigate the risk, like not charging their vehicles or parking outside structures... hope it gets fixed ASAP πŸ’¨

πŸš—πŸ’‘ omg what's going on with those jeep batteries?! like seriously faulty ones can ignite fires? how can that happen?? 🀯 and now ppl gotta be so careful not to park near stuff cuz of it... shouldn't've happened in the first place, right? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ at least they're gonna fix it tho and give owners a way to get their cars fixed πŸ’ͺ. hope nobody got hurt from this... that's just crazy πŸ˜“.

πŸ€” I'm totally freaked out about this Jeep recall news 🚨πŸ’₯. Like, what's going on with their batteries? One fire injury? That's just crazy 😬. And 19 reports of fires that can ignite... how is that even possible? πŸ”₯ Are they using some new tech or something?

I'm all for progress and innovation, but safety has gotta come first, you know? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what if someone was driving their Jeep when the battery just decides to catch on fire? 😱 That's like a movie plot or something! πŸŽ₯

And it's Samsung SDI America that made these faulty batteries... so, did they not test them enough? πŸ€” Or were there some quality control issues? I need more info on this one... can we get an update on what went wrong and how Chrysler is gonna fix it? πŸš—πŸ’‘

🚨 Ugh, just great. Another major recall from a major automaker. I mean, 320k vehicles? That's a lot of people potentially affected by something that could put them at risk of fire. It's crazy how things like this can happen, especially when you consider the tech we're relying on is still relatively new.

And it's not just about the numbers, it's also about the process. How did Samsung SDI America even get away with producing faulty batteries in such large quantities? I mean, that's some serious quality control fail right there. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

But what really gets me is how long it took for this to be identified and communicated to owners. December 2nd isn't exactly far off from now... I hope people are already aware of the risk and taking precautions.

This recall just goes to show that even with all the advancements in tech, there's still so much room for improvement when it comes to safety. We need to keep pushing for better quality control and more thorough testing before these vehicles hit the market. πŸ’‘

OMG, THIS IS SO CRAZY!!! CHRYSLER NEEDS TO GET ITS ACT TOGETHER!!! I MEAN, FAULTY BATTERIES THAT CAN IGNITE FIRES? THAT'S JUST NOT OKAY!!! 320,000 VEHICLES RECALLED?!?! AND IT TAKES US DECEMBER TO KNOW ABOUT IT?!?! WHO GETS HURT IN THIS SCENARIO? CHROME NEEDS TO BE MORE TRANSPARENT WITH ITS CUSTOMERS!

Man, this Jeep recall is a major bummer πŸ˜•... I mean, who wants their car to catch on fire? πŸš’ Unfortunately, it's not like Chrysler was doing anything wrong - these batteries were made by Samsung SDI America, so it's more of an external issue, right? πŸ€” Still, gotta be honest, the fact that 19 reports and one injury is a pretty serious deal. And now owners have to live with the anxiety of their car potentially catching fire... I guess it's good that Chrysler is taking responsibility and getting out a recall, but can't they've done more to prevent this in the first place? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Oh well, at least owners will get some help - just hope it doesn't take too long for them to figure out what to do.

OMG 🀯 I just heard about this massive Jeep recall and I'm like totally shocked! Faulty batteries? That's so not cool πŸ˜’. I mean, who wants to risk a fire breaking out in their car? Not me, that's for sure πŸ’₯. And 320,000 vehicles are affected?! That's like, what, half the population of the US or something 🀯. I'm all for holding companies accountable and getting those vehicles fixed ASAP ⏰. And Samsung SDI America is the culprit? Guess they need to step up their game πŸ’ͺ. Owners should be super careful not to charge their cars until a fix is found, that's just common sense πŸ™„. Can't wait to see how this all plays out, fingers crossed for safe driving πŸš—πŸ‘
