Controversy at the Emirates and Villa stun Manchester United – Women's Football Weekly

The VAR system is like trying to referee a toddler's temper tantrum - it's all over the place 🤯! I mean, I get that they're trying to make the game fair and all, but sometimes it feels like they're just throwing darts at the screen hoping something sticks. Like with Arsenal's goal, I'm not sure if the disallowed goal was actually the right call... I mean, Fran Kirby did seem pretty upset 😒. But on the other hand, if a red card isn't given for all that contact, then where does it stop? It's like trying to solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded - you just can't get it right every time 💡.

And don't even get me started on the pressure on match officials 🤦‍♀️. They're human too, after all! You'd think that with VAR, they'd have an easier job, but nope... now they've got to deal with all these crazy calls and missed red cards on top of their regular games. I'm just saying, maybe it's time for a more lenient approach (or at least, a better explanation for the calls 🤔).

omg, i cant believe that arsenal got robbed again lol, those VAR decisions are getting so outta hand 🤣...i mean, fran kirby was way offside on that one...and now man united is on fire 🚀 they need to step up their game against ars if mary earps is gonna lead them to victory 💪

man... i feel like we're stuck in this never-ending cycle of controversy and debate... VAR is just a symptom of a larger issue - the pressure to make perfect decisions under duress 🤯... the refs are human too, you know? they can only do their best with the tools they have... maybe it's time for us to focus on supporting them instead of second-guessing every decision 🔥... and what's up with all these calls for a more lenient approach? isn't that just going to lead to more errors? 🤔... anyway, can we just enjoy the beautiful game without all the drama? 😅

I'm telling you, this VAR business is getting outta hand 🤯. It's like they're trying to micromanage every single call on the pitch. I mean, come on, a draw against Chelsea? That's not a VAR conspiracy, that's just bad luck for Arsenal. But seriously, can't we just trust our referees to do their job? It's like they need constant validation from a third-party official. And don't even get me started on the red card controversy... Fran Kirby was clearly fouled out of proportion. It's time for some common sense and a bit less emphasis on technology 🤖.

And what about the media? The Guardian Women's Football Weekly is getting some love, which is great, but it raises questions - who gets to decide what's 'worthy' of recognition? Is it just the establishment voices or are there more diverse perspectives being represented? We need to be careful not to create a echo chamber where only certain views get amplified. The FSA Awards 2025 should be about celebrating excellence in women's football, not perpetuating the same old narratives 📰.

Ugh I'm so frustrated with VAR right now 🤯 it's like they're not even trying to get it right anymore... I mean I get that mistakes happen but when it comes down to goals and red cards, can't they just use their common sense? 🤷‍♀️

And honestly, I feel bad for the refs who have to deal with all this pressure. They need our support, not us calling them out on social media 😩 especially after Fran Kirby got sent off... it's like we forget that they're human too and can make mistakes.

On a brighter note, congrats to North Korea on their U17 World Cup win 🎉 and to The Guardian Women's Football Weekly for getting shortlisted for the FSA Awards 2025 👏

I don't get why VAR is still a thing 😩. I mean, it's supposed to help referees make better calls, but honestly, it just adds more stress and controversy to the game. One minute you're celebrating a goal, the next you're watching in slow motion as the ref decides whether it was a no-go or not 🤯. Can't they just trust their instincts? I'm all for fair play, but this VAR business is getting old... ⏱️
