'It's fabulous': Swansea on cloud wine for Beaujolais Nouveau Day

Swansea takes to the streets for a taste of French flair, as thousands celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day with all the trappings of a wild party. The snow-covered hills just outside the city couldn't dampen the spirits of those donning their finest party attire, ready to toast to France's famous red wine.

For 20-year-old supermarket worker Laura and her colleague Kelly, 42, tonight was all about having fun and letting loose – an excuse to kick back and enjoy each other's company in a night out that's become a staple of Swansea's cultural calendar. "It's fabulous," exclaimed Molly Dowrick, head of marketing at Morgan's Hotel, where the evening's festivities were taking place. For many, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is more than just an excuse to indulge in a glass of wine; it's a chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues, or to woo clients with a sophisticated business lunch.

While not everyone shares Laura and Kelly's enthusiasm for the wine, many others have caught on to its charm. The day has become a phenomenon in Swansea, with event listings popping up online and social media abuzz with invitations to Beaujolais-themed shindigs. As one friend put it, "We start planning our outfits in July" – the pressure's clearly on for those who want to make an impression.

The Morgan's Hotel marquee was a hive of activity, with businesspeople mingling with friends and colleagues over glasses of the iconic wine. Meanwhile, at Swansea BID, Andrew "Duggie" Douglas was touting the economic benefits of Beaujolais Day – from hairdressers opening early to taxi drivers raking it in.

As for those who do enjoy a glass (or two) of Beaujolais? Well, they're certainly not alone. With its unique blend of funkiness and charm, this humble French wine has won over fans worldwide. And as the evening wore on at Morgan's Hotel, with bongo players and saxophonists adding to the party atmosphere, it was clear that Swansea had truly taken to the spirit – or rather, the wine.

As a self-proclaimed wine enthusiast, I have to say that Beaujolais is definitely gaining some fans worldwide – its unique blend of funkiness and charm has won me over too! 😊 The fact that it's become a staple in Swansea's cultural calendar is a testament to the city's vibrant community spirit. Let's keep the party vibes going all year round, shall we? 🎉

I'm low-key surprised by how much I love this Beaujolais Nouveau Day vibe in Swansea 🎉🍷 The way everyone's just letting loose and having a good time, no drama whatsoever. It's amazing to see how something that started as a simple French wine thing has become such a big deal for the city. And omg the outfits! Laura and Kelly are serving looks 😂 I'm definitely here for more of these events in the future, who's in?

Ugh I'm so done with all these fancy French wine festivals 🤯🍷! Like, what even is the point of it all? Just a bunch of people sipping on some mediocre wine and pretending like they're sophisticated 😒. And don't even get me started on the outfits - who thought it was a good idea to wear a full-on party dress to a hotel in January ❄️?! It's just an excuse for people to be extra and show off their fake culture 🙄.

And what's with all the fuss about Beaujolais Nouveau Day? Is it really that hard to drink some wine on a Tuesday evening? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, I guess if you're into that sort of thing, go for it! But for everyone else, can't we just stick to something a little more low-key? Like, have you tried those new craft beers from Wales? Now that's something worth celebrating 😎.

I'm loving how Swansea is embracing its inner French flair on Beaujolais Nouveau Day 😊. It's a great excuse for people to let loose and have some fun with their friends. I mean, who doesn't love a good glass of wine and some lively tunes? The city really outdid itself with the party atmosphere at Morgan's Hotel - it was like stepping into a French festival 🎉. And I've got to say, it's awesome that Swansea is making this event a staple in its cultural calendar. It's a great way for people to connect with each other and have some fun. Plus, it's always good to see local businesses thriving, especially during events like this 💸. Overall, it looks like Swansea really knows how to celebrate in style!

🎉 I love how Swansea is embracing this fun tradition like a big ol' French party! It's all about letting loose and having a good time with friends & colleagues 🤩. And, tbh, who can resist that funky charm of Beaujolais? 😊 The fact that it's become such a cultural staple in the city is just awesome – I've seen so many people (and couples!) hitting up events like this around Swansea... what a great way to build community & connections 🌈! Can't wait to see how long this tradition keeps going strong 🎉

🎉🍷 I'm loving how Swansea gets into the French vibe every year for Beaujolais Nouveau Day! It's awesome that they've made it a part of their cultural calendar. The city just looks like one big party, and who can blame them? 🤩 The atmosphere sounds electric, with bongo players and saxophonists adding to the fun. It's also great to see people from different walks of life coming together to celebrate – whether it's for business or just a good time. 💼🍷

I'm low-key surprised that Beaujolais Nouveau Day has become a thing in Swansea 🤔... like, it's still pretty much just a French wine, right? But hey, if people wanna get their party on and have fun with it 💃🏻, I'm not here to judge. And fair play to the city for embracing the culture – those events sound like a real hoot 🎉! The idea that people are already planning outfits in July is wild tho 😂... do we really need that much warning?

OMG, you guys! 🤩 Beaujolais Nouveau Day in Swansea is like a whole different vibe 😂. I mean, who doesn't love a good excuse to dress up and party? 💃🕺 The city's really gotten into it – from the hotel events to the online listings, it's like everyone's hyped for a reason 🤪. And let's be real, that wine is pretty fun 😜. I'm not gonna lie, I've had my fair share of Beaujolais in the past (back in uni days), and now I see why people love it – it's just so...French 🇫🇷. The whole scene at Morgan's Hotel was like a mashup of Parisian chic and Welsh hospitality 🤗, which is basically perfect for this little corner of the world. Who knows? Maybe Swansea will start its own wine culture thingy 💥. Wouldn't that be awesome? 😎

omg i feel like it's 2010 all over again 🤣 can u believe beaujolais day is still a thing? in my day we used to have this crazy party every sept and october lol. back then it was more about the free entry to clubs but nowadays its all about the wine and networking i mean who doesn't love a good glass of vin rouge but seriously tho, 20 somethings partying like its 1999 lol what's next?
