Medusa Celebrates Grand Opening in Detroit's Midtown, Serving Up Flavors of Sicily and the Mediterranean

A new restaurant has arrived in Detroit's vibrant Midtown neighborhood, bringing with it a taste of Italy and the Mediterranean. Medusa, co-owned by Chef Anthony Lombardo of acclaimed Italian eatery SheWolf Pastificio & Bar, opened its doors on Thursday at 664 Selden St., just down the street from its sibling restaurant.

According to Lombardo, Medusa's menu is built around simple yet bold flavors: olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, and anchovies. The goal, he explained in a previous interview with Hour Detroit magazine, is to "tell the story of Sicily through our menu, through our service and our hospitality" – with the aim of educating diners about the unique history and culture of this special place.

The restaurant's Midtown location has seen its fair share of failed ventures in recent years. However, Lombardo and his team seem confident that Medusa will be a hit, given their passion for Sicilian cuisine and warm hospitality. Whether you're a foodie looking to explore new flavors or just a lover of good Italian cooking, Medusa is definitely worth checking out.

Reservations are now available on the restaurant's website, so plan ahead to ensure your spot at this exciting new eatery. Will Medusa become the newest crown jewel in Detroit's Midtown dining scene? Only time will tell, but with its promising concept and talented chef at the helm, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I'm hyped for this new restaurant to come to town! I've been waiting for a solid spot like Medusa to open up in Midtown, you know? Italian food is always a winner in my book 🍝👌. The fact that they're highlighting Sicilian cuisine and Mediterranean flavors sounds super interesting. I'm all about trying new stuff and learning more about the culture behind it. Chef Lombardo seems like a total pro, so fingers crossed he delivers on his promise to bring authentic flavors to Detroit! 🤞

Medusa is gonna be HUGE in D-Town! 🚀🍝 Did u know that the Mediterranean region accounts for 40% of global olive oil production? And anchovies are like, super popular in Italy with over 30 million people consuming them annually! ⏰ Chef Lombardo's goal to educate diners about Sicilian culture is genius, btw. 🤓 On average, Italian restaurants in the US rake in $50-$75 per person on a Friday night. Can Medusa break that barrier? 🤑 Their Midtown location has seen some failed ventures, but did u know that 75% of restaurants close down within 3 years? ⏱️ Let's keep an eye on this new eatery & see if it becomes the next crown jewel in Detroit's dining scene! 👑

Medusa is giving me major FOMO 🤤! I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned Italian feast? And Sicilian cuisine in particular, is just so underrated - all that rich history and culture behind every dish... I'm already imagining the flavors of olive oil, capers, and anchovies 🤤🍴. The fact that it's located in Midtown Detroit is a bonus too - that neighborhood's always poppin'! 👏 One thing that's got me curious though, is how well they'll balance authentic Sicilian cuisine with modern twists. Will they be able to wow the Detroit crowd? Only time (and my taste buds) will tell 😋

I'm so down to try Medusa out, their menu sounds like a flavor explosion of olive oil & capers 🍝💦. I know Midtown has had some issues with restaurants in the past but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one 👍. 2 yrs ago i visited SheWolf and it was LIFE.CHANGING 🤯. Chef Lombardo's passion for Sicilian cuisine is so inspiring, I love how he wants to share that with his guests 🙌. Will Medusa be the next big thing in Detroit? Only time will tell but I'm already planning my reservation 📅💖

And the fact that Chef Lombardo wants to share the story of Sicily through food and hospitality? Mind blown 😍. I'm all about trying new flavors, especially when they're authentic and delicious-sounding like their menu with olive oil, capers, and anchovies. The restaurant's got some big shoes to fill since Midtown has seen its fair share of failed ventures lately 🤞, but if anyone can do it, it's Chef Lombardo and his team. I'm definitely making a reservation ASAP 👍. Let's hope Medusa becomes the new crown jewel in Detroit's dining scene! 💫

I just had Medusa for lunch yesterday 🤯🍝 and I'm still reeling from that first bite! The whole atmosphere in Midtown is buzzing now that this place is open. Anthony Lombardo's menu is spot on – the grilled octopus was to die for, like a taste explosion in your mouth 🤪. And yes, you can tell they've put love and care into everything from the decor to the service. I'm not saying it's gonna steal the crown from SheWolf just yet, but it's definitely got me excited about trying more of that Sicilian magic!

🤔 just saw that Medusa is now open in Midtown Detroit! I'm loving the idea of trying out Sicilian cuisine in the Mitten State 🌪️ - never been to Italy but I've had my fair share of pasta and pizza back home, so this should be a fun experience 😋. Chef Lombardo's goal to educate diners about Sicily's history & culture is really cool - it's awesome that he's passionate about sharing his heritage through food 🍝. Anyone else planning on checking out Medusa?

Ugh, I'm getting so sick of these "grand opening" hype articles 🤦‍♂️... like who even reads these things?! Can't they just focus on the food already?! Medusa sounds interesting, but honestly, how many restaurants are there in Midtown that specialize in Sicilian cuisine? It's not like it's a new concept. And what's up with the name change from "SheWolf Pastificio & Bar" to just "Medusa"? Trying to create a whole new brand identity or something? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I guess if you're into that sorta thing, Medusa is definitely worth trying out... but can we get some actual reviews and not just fluff pieces?!

Yaaas I'm so hyped for Medusa to bring that Sicilian flavor to Midtown! Chef Anthony Lombardo is a genius and I love how he's sharing his passion for Sicily with everyone through food Can't wait to try all the dishes, especially the ones with olive oil & capers 🤩💚
