just saw that 12 illicit massage parlors got shut down in Morgan Hill

and I'm both relieved and frustrated at the same time... on one hand, it's awesome that law enforcement was able to crack down on these businesses and potentially save some victims from exploitation

. On the other hand, can't believe they had to get involved in the first place - shouldn't these businesses be following the rules anyway?

I mean, who needs a permit if you're just gonna do illicit activities anyway?
And what's with all the red tape around it though? The city updating their codes and partnering with organizations... isn't that just going to push the problem elsewhere? Like, how many more cities are gonna have to deal with this issue because some other place can't handle it?

Plus, five years without reopening a business is pretty harsh - that's a long time for someone to be out of work.
It's crazy thinking about all these illicit massage parlors operating across the US... 10,000+ and California alone has over a quarter of them

. Something needs to change, but how?
