SEPTA to start using 10 leased cars next week to boost Regional Rail service

SEPTA Unveils New Regional Rail Schedule to Boost Morning Commute

Starting next week, commuters will see a noticeable improvement in their morning and evening commutes on SEPTA's Regional Rail lines. The transit agency has introduced 10 new leased cars from Maryland's MARC system, which will help alleviate crowded conditions during peak hours.

As part of the schedule changes, three bus routes have had their morning trip times adjusted to maintain connections with Regional Rail trains. This move aims to provide a more seamless experience for passengers.

The Wilmington/Newark line has received an entirely new schedule, while the Trenton and Chestnut Hill East lines will also see significant changes. Train frequency is expected to increase from Wayne Junction to Philadelphia International Airport, providing commuters with a more reliable service.

The West Trenton and Trenton Regional Rail lines will be among the first to benefit from the new MARC cars, which were introduced last month. This move is part of SEPTA's efforts to address overcrowding on its aging Silverliner IV fleet.

However, significant service enhancements are still pending completion of federally mandated inspections on the 223 Silverliner IV cars. The inspections were prompted by multiple electrical fires in October and have raised safety concerns from the Federal Railroad Administration.

SEPTA estimates that the full replacement of the fleet could take up to a decade. To accelerate this process, the agency has leased train cars from MARC and Montreal's Exo system. A portion of funds allocated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation was used for this purpose.

While the new schedule is expected to improve commute times, commuters should note that three bus routes will see their morning trip times adjusted. New schedules can be viewed online, providing passengers with a clear idea of what to expect.

OMG u guys SEPTA just dropped a new regional rail schedule 2 boost mornin commutes and its gonna b HUGE improvement!!! πŸš‚πŸ‘ they got new leased cars from MARC which will help with overcrowding during peak hours. train frequency is also gettin an upgrade at Wayne Junction 2 Philly Airport so u can expect more reliable service πŸš†

buts hold up commuters dont think the new bus schedules wont b a problem cuz some routes r gettin their morning trip times adjusted πŸšŒπŸ•°οΈ still check out the updated schedule online tho so u know whats comin πŸ‘€

I'm so over these changes πŸ™„. Like, I get it, SEPTA wants to improve the commute, but do they have to mess up bus routes too? πŸšŒπŸ’” Three more things that morning? No thanks! I swear, all this new stuff is just gonna make me wanna stay home and drink coffee instead of fighting traffic ⚫️. On the bright side, those MARC cars are a nice touch... at least they're not Silverliners πŸ˜’. And who's counting down to 10 years until we can get rid of these old trains? πŸ•°οΈ 10 years is like, an eternity for us commuters!

omg i just got back from the most amazing weekend getaway to the beach πŸ–οΈ and i'm still on a post-vacation high. anyway, back to septa's new rail schedule... i'm not complaining or anything, but have you ever noticed how long it takes for buses to start running in this city? like, what even is that all about? πŸ€” and btw, did you see that cute puppy video going around on tiktok the other day?

Umm... I think SEPTA's new Regional Rail schedule is a great move πŸ€”, but also kinda not so great? Like, it'll definitely make my commute faster and stuff, but those bus route changes might be a bit annoying πŸšŒπŸ•°οΈ. And don't even get me started on the Silverliner IV fleet... I mean, I'm all for upgrading, but are we really gonna take like 10 years to replace them? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ That's just too long 😩. But at the same time, leasing new cars from MARC and Exo is a good idea, I guess? It's better than nothing, right? πŸ’Έ... Wait, what was I saying again?

πŸš‚πŸ‘ just got word about SEPTA's new regional rail schedule and I'm feeling hella optimistic about it! 🀩 they're finally addressing the overcrowding on the Silverliner IV fleet which is been a nightmare for commuters πŸ‘Ž so yeah, having more trains and buses running on time is a huge win πŸ’ͺ especially with those new MARC cars rolling in πŸš‚πŸ”₯ hope this means less stress and more productivity during peak hours πŸ’Ό

I don’t usually comment but I think it's kinda cool that SEPTA is trying new things to make the morning commute better πŸš‚πŸ’¨. I mean, who doesn't love having more reliable service and getting to their job on time? But I do wonder if they're gonna have enough staff to handle all these new trains... like, are they gonna hire more people or just hope for the best? πŸ€”. Also, 10 new leased cars from MARC is a good start but what about the rest of the fleet? Like, when can we expect those Silverliner IVs to get replaced and what's the deal with all these safety concerns? 😬

Wow πŸ’₯ SEPTA is really stepping up its game! I'm all about those new MARC cars πŸš‚ bringing some fresh air to the crowded trains. The changes in schedule are gonna make morning commutes a whole lot smoother ✨. Not sure why they had to adjust bus routes, but I guess it's part of the bigger plan πŸ€”. Can't wait to see more improvements and faster trains πŸš…πŸ‘

so they're trying to boost morning commutes on SEPTA's Regional Rail lines by introducing new leased cars πŸš‚ from Maryland's MARC system... 10 new cars in total! that's a good move, less crowded trains will be nice for commuters. but the thing is, these new cars aren't replacing old ones yet, they're just helping to alleviate the problem πŸ€”. and it's gonna take up to a decade to replace all the Silverliner IV fleet... seems like SEPTA's got its work cut out for it πŸ•’οΈ. and on the downside, three bus routes will see their morning trip times adjusted... not exactly what commuters wanted to hear 😐. anyway, new schedules are online, so you can check 'em out πŸ‘€.

πŸš‚πŸ’¨ I'm glad SEPTA's making some much-needed changes to our Regional Rail lines. It's crazy to think about how packed those trains get in the mornings! I've been using it for years and I've always thought that was a major bottleneck. The addition of new cars from MARC should definitely help with that.

However, I do hope they don't forget about the bus routes. Adjusting morning trip times might not be ideal for everyone's schedule. Have you tried taking SEPTA during rush hour? It's a real challenge! 🀯

But overall, it's great to see SEPTA investing in its infrastructure and trying to improve our commute experience. I just hope they can get that fleet replaced ASAP. A decade is a long time! ⏰

OMG πŸš‚πŸ˜¬ SEPTA's doing some major updates next week! The new MARC train cars are like a breath of fresh air for crowded Regional Rail lines πŸŒΏπŸ’¨. I'm so stoked about the faster trains and more reliable service to Philly Airport πŸ›«οΈ - it's gonna make mornings way less stressful 😩. But, gotta give it to SEPTA for trying to address those Silverliner IV safety concerns... fingers crossed they can get that whole fleet replaced ASAP ⏰!

idk about this new schedule change on SEPTA's Regional Rail... sounds like they're trying to ease the morning commute but I'm not sure if it's enough. introducing 10 new leased cars is a good start tho πŸš‚ i just hope these new additions help alleviate overcrowding and don't cause more delays. also, three bus routes getting their morning trip times adjusted might be a bit much... feels like they're trying to make up for something without really addressing the root problem 😐
