The race to stop octopus farming before it starts

I'm low-key worried about octopus farms πŸ™πŸ˜Ÿ, you know? Like, I get it, we need to eat and all that, but do we really have to mess with these tiny genius creatures' lives? They're already dealing with so much stress in the wild, like, navigating predators and finding food... can't we just, like, leave them alone?

I'm also kinda fascinated by "My Octopus Teacher" πŸ“Ί. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend their days learning about cephalopods from a documentary? But at the same time, it's got me thinking about how we're treating animals in general... are we just, like, using them for our own gain without considering what they need?

I think we should be looking at ways to reduce our octopus-farming footprint 🌎. Like, can't we find alternative sources of food that don't involve, you know, torturing tiny mollusks? Or maybe there are better ways to farm them that prioritize their welfare... anyway, I'm just gonna keep watching those Netflix docs and trying to learn more about these amazing creatures πŸ’‘

I'm low-key super concerned about this whole octopus farming thing 🀯... like, I get it, we need our food sources, but at what cost? Those little guys are already dealing with some serious stress just from being kept in tanks, you know? πŸ™ And don't even get me started on the whole " farms can provide humane conditions" thing - have they actually seen an octopus try to hide in a tiny tank? πŸ˜‚ It's like, come on, we gotta think about their well-being here. Mather makes some solid points though, like how smart and complex they are... it's wild 🀯.

πŸ€” I'm totally confused about these octopuses πŸ™... like, do we really need to farm them? Can't we just, like, observe them in the wild or something? πŸ˜‚ And what's up with their camouflage abilities? Is it, like, super hard to make fake camouflage for tanks? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And isn't that Netflix documentary kinda weird? Like, a teacher who gets attached to an octopus and starts making friends with it? πŸ™πŸ’•

I gotta say, I'm kinda with Mahmut Serdar Alakus Villanueva on this one πŸ€”. Like, I get why Jennifer Mather is concerned about the treatment of octopuses in farms, but at the same time, I think it's possible to find a balance between food production and animal welfare πŸ’‘. Villanueva makes some valid points about how farms can improve conditions for octopuses by studying their behavior and biology πŸ“š. And let's be real, we need a sustainable food source, so finding ways to make it work is key 🌎. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy or that everyone's gonna agree on this one 😐, but I think we can have an open-minded discussion about it and try to find a solution that works for both humans and octopuses πŸ™πŸ’–
