Bristol Borough's Coziest Holiday Tradition Returns with a Vintage Twist
The Grundy Museum is once again transforming its 19th-century riverside home into a festive holiday haven. This year, the Victorian Holiday House takes on a nostalgic "Toys & Tinsel" theme, inviting visitors to step back in time and experience the elegance and sentiment of the Victorian era.
Upon entering the mansion, guests will be immersed in a winter wonderland filled with seven Christmas trees and meticulously designed room-by-room displays. Each space is tailored to evoke the charm and whimsy of the holiday season during the 19th century, much like a vintage postcard come to life.
One of the standout features this year is an exquisite exhibit of antique toys, made possible by Philadelphia collector Troy Chinnici-Bianchi. The display boasts hand-carved rocking horses, intricate miniature carousels, early teddy bears, dolls, and wooden playthings that offer a rare glimpse into childhood during the Victorian era. Many of these items are being showcased publicly for the first time, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to appreciate the artistry and imagination that defined playtime more than a century ago.
To celebrate its reopening, the Grundy Museum will host an Opening Night celebration on November 21st at 6 p.m., complete with live music from violinist Claudia Pellegrini, light refreshments in the South Lawn Garden, and tickets priced at $50. For those seeking a more relaxed visit, discounted walk-through tours will be available from November 22nd through December 20th for just $5.
In a new partnership with local eateries Itri Wood Fired Pizza and The King George Inn, the museum is launching "Date Night in Winter," a promotion that pairs a museum visit with exclusive discounts at participating Bristol Borough restaurants.
