Victorian Holiday House returns to Grundy Museum with a festive 'Toys & Tinsel' theme

Bristol Borough's Coziest Holiday Tradition Returns with a Vintage Twist

The Grundy Museum is once again transforming its 19th-century riverside home into a festive holiday haven. This year, the Victorian Holiday House takes on a nostalgic "Toys & Tinsel" theme, inviting visitors to step back in time and experience the elegance and sentiment of the Victorian era.

Upon entering the mansion, guests will be immersed in a winter wonderland filled with seven Christmas trees and meticulously designed room-by-room displays. Each space is tailored to evoke the charm and whimsy of the holiday season during the 19th century, much like a vintage postcard come to life.

One of the standout features this year is an exquisite exhibit of antique toys, made possible by Philadelphia collector Troy Chinnici-Bianchi. The display boasts hand-carved rocking horses, intricate miniature carousels, early teddy bears, dolls, and wooden playthings that offer a rare glimpse into childhood during the Victorian era. Many of these items are being showcased publicly for the first time, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to appreciate the artistry and imagination that defined playtime more than a century ago.

To celebrate its reopening, the Grundy Museum will host an Opening Night celebration on November 21st at 6 p.m., complete with live music from violinist Claudia Pellegrini, light refreshments in the South Lawn Garden, and tickets priced at $50. For those seeking a more relaxed visit, discounted walk-through tours will be available from November 22nd through December 20th for just $5.

In a new partnership with local eateries Itri Wood Fired Pizza and The King George Inn, the museum is launching "Date Night in Winter," a promotion that pairs a museum visit with exclusive discounts at participating Bristol Borough restaurants.

just had the cutest idea πŸŽ…οΈ - why not do a virtual tour of the Victorian Holiday House? we could use 3D tech to bring it to life online πŸ€–, and people from all over can still experience that nostalgic winter wonderland vibe ❄️! and can u imagine how much more accessible the "Date Night in Winter" deal would be if they just made those discounted walk-through tours available online too? πŸ’Έ

I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR'S VICTORIAN HOLIDAY HOUSE AT THE GRUNDY MUSEUM!!! πŸŽ„πŸ  IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE REALLY GETTING INTO THE SPIRIT WITH ALL THOSE CHRISTMAS TREES AND DELICIOUS-LOOKING ROOMS. I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD VINTAGE TOYS EXHIBIT? 🀩 IT'S GOING TO BE SO COOL TO SEE ALL THOSE HAND-CARVED ROCKING HORSES AND MINIATURE CARROUSELS ON DISPLAY! AND THE PARTNER WITH LOCAL RESTAURANTS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA - I'M ALREADY THINKING OF GETTING MY FRIENDS TO JOIN ME FOR A DATE NIGHT IN WINTER πŸ΄πŸŽ…

πŸŽ„ I'm so stoked they're bringing back this holiday tradition! The 'Toys & Tinsel' theme sounds like an absolute dream come true - who wouldn't want to walk around a 19th-century mansion covered in Christmas trees and vintage toys? 😍 I mean, can you even imagine the smell of wood smoke and pine wafting through those rooms? It's giving me all the cozy feels just thinking about it! πŸŽ… The exhibit on antique toys is pretty amazing too - I'm low-key jealous that I won't be able to see some of those handmade rocking horses up close. And the fact that they're partnering with local restaurants for 'Date Night in Winter' sounds like a solid way to make the whole experience even more special! πŸ’•

Omg I'm totally down for a vintage holiday vibe this year πŸŽ„πŸ•°οΈ! A whole exhibit on antique toys sounds so cool, especially those hand-carved rocking horses 🐴❀️. And hey, who doesn't love a good date night out with friends (and discounted food at a rad pizza place, obvs πŸ•). The Opening Night celebration sounds like the perfect excuse to get all glammed up and festive... but can we please also talk about how cozy it's gonna be in that 19th-century mansion? πŸ’– I'm low-key tempted to plan a trip to Bristol just for this πŸš‚

omg i love this! 🀩 they're bringing back the vintage twist on the holiday tradition at the Grundy Museum and it sounds like so much fun!! πŸŽ„πŸ•°οΈ having antique toys on display is, like, totally mind-blowing... who knew these tiny rocking horses and dolls were so intricately carved? 🀯 i'm definitely gonna check out that exhibit and take some pics to share with my friends πŸ‘« can't wait for the opening night celebration too! 🎢🍴 has anyone been to the Grundy Museum before? what's it like visiting in the winter?

OMG u guyz!!! 😍 I'm literally so down for this! The vintage twist on the holiday tradition sounds AMAZING πŸŽ„πŸ•°οΈ! I mean, who doesn't love stepping into a 19th-century winter wonderland? πŸ’« The exhibit of antique toys is giving me ALL THE FEELS 🀩 like I'm transported back in time to when my grandparents used to play with those same old toys! πŸŽ‚ And can we talk about the museum's opening night celebration? Live music, light refreshments... it's gonna be SO MUCH FUN πŸŽ‰πŸΏ The partnership with local eateries is also a genius idea! Date Night in Winter is the perfect excuse for me to plan a cozy night out with my bae 😘

You know what's really cool about this holiday tradition? It's not just about having fun and being festive, it's about taking a step back in time and appreciating the past. Like, those vintage toys they're showing off? They remind us that even though technology has changed so much, some of the same joys we had as kids are still around - like playing with wooden toys or rocking horses πŸŽ„.

It's also great that it's a community event. All those local restaurants getting together to offer discounts and whatnot? That's just good neighborliness at its finest πŸ•. And let's be real, sometimes the best way to get into the holiday spirit is by taking a break from the chaos of everyday life and just enjoying some quality time with loved ones.

Anyway, it's always awesome to see how our community comes together like this. So mark your calendars for that Opening Night celebration and maybe even plan a Date Night in Winter with your significant other 🎁.

I'm so down for this! They need to bring back these kinds of holiday traditions in the city, you know? It's like they're saying "Hey, let's take a step back and appreciate the little things." I mean, who doesn't love a good vintage toy display? πŸŽ„πŸ‘ The fact that it's part of their museum is genius, they're already doing something special, now they just have to bring it out for everyone. And $50 for the opening night event? Worth every penny imo πŸ’Έ

Man, this Grundy Museum holiday thing sounds like a total trip πŸŽ„πŸ ! Stepping back into the 19th century Victorian era feels so cozy and nostalgic, you know? I mean, who wouldn't want to see a display of antique toys that are straight outta a vintage postcard come to life? Those hand-carved rocking horses and intricately designed carousels sound like something from a different time altogether 🀯

But at the same time, I gotta say, it's also kinda trippy to think about these kids playing with dolls and wooden toys back in the day. I mean, I love them some vintage vibes, but sometimes it feels like we're just pretending that everyone was happy and carefree all the time...it's okay to acknowledge the difficulties too, you know? πŸ€” Still, I guess this is a great opportunity for people to appreciate the artistry and imagination of childhood back in the day. And hey, who wouldn't want to celebrate the holidays with some old-school charm and romance? ❀️

man i loved going to this Grundy Museum as a kid, always had the craziest time when it was all lit up for christmas πŸŽ„πŸ•―οΈ. its so cool they're bringing back the vintage toy exhibit now, can't wait to take my own kids there next year, imagine them playing with all those old carousels and rocking horses 😊. and now they're doing a date night thing too? genius! should've thought of that when i was still dating πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ anyway, been meaning to go back to bristol for ages, guess this is the perfect excuse πŸ’‘

.. thinkin' about this whole "Toys & Tinsel" thing got me wonderin'... what's the real magic behind all these vintage toys and displays? Is it just nostalgia for the past or somethin' deeper? Like, are we really tryin' to recapture that childhood wonder or is it just a way to escape the present moment? I mean, those antique toys might be beautiful but they're also a reminder that time keeps movin' and playtime's not always as simple as it used to be...

I don't usually comment but I think it's really cool how they're bringing back this holiday tradition with a vintage twist πŸŽ„. The idea of stepping into a Victorian-era winter wonderland sounds so magical and festive. I'd love to check out the exhibit on antique toys, especially those hand-carved rocking horses - they look like they were made by skilled craftsmen 🀩. It's also awesome that they're partnering with local eateries for a "Date Night in Winter" promotion - who wouldn't want to combine a museum visit with a delicious pizza or meal at Itri Wood Fired Pizza or The King George Inn? 😊

πŸŽ„β€οΈ I'm not sure about this one... I mean, how many Christmas events can we have every year? Don't get me wrong, it sounds lovely and all, but isn't the Grundy Museum always doing something festive? It's like, what's to keep us coming back for another year? And $50 for an opening night event is a bit steep, if you ask me πŸ€‘

I'm so down for this! It's like stepping into my grandma's old Victorian-era Christmas decorations πŸŽ„πŸ . I love how they're bringing back the charm and sentiment of the holiday season from way back when. The vintage toys exhibit is gonna be insane – can't wait to see those hand-carved rocking horses and intricate miniature carousels up close! And, oh man, $5 walk-through tours? That's like, half price for a museum visit! πŸ€‘ I'm definitely signing up for that. Also, pairing it with date night deals at local eateries sounds like the perfect way to spend a winter evening out. It's all about nostalgia and cozy vibes this year πŸ‘Œ

OMG, this vintage twist on holiday tradition sounds like so much fun πŸŽ„πŸ˜! I mean, who wouldn't want to step back in time and experience the elegance of the Victorian era? I'm totally down for that "Toys & Tinsel" theme - it's like a trip back to grandma's house, but way more awesome 🀩. And, omigosh, those antique toys on display are giving me all sorts of nostalgic feels 😍. Hand-carved rocking horses and intricate mini carousels? Yes, please! I'd totally spend an evening there with some hot cocoa and live music 🎢🍫. Can't wait to check it out, especially with the Date Night in Winter promo - a museum visit and pizza sounds like the perfect date night to me πŸ’•
